I was around when this show first premiered. I was excited from the commercials, but I remembered it was really hard to catch it. If you didn't have DVR it was easy to miss.

They have "Cancellation Bear" as a symbol or, I guess, like a mascot. In May 2015, TV By the Numbers predicted that Galavant would be canceled after its first season. After a surprise renewal, the second season began with an episode titled "A New Season aka Suck It Cancellation Bear" in mockery of the website.

One camper starts putting on their shoes to which the other chastises "What are you doing? You can't possibly hope to outrun the bear." To which the shoed camper replies "I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun you." Whichever camper falls behind will get gobbled by the bear while the other gets away. The Cancellation Bear recognizes that the numeral Nielsen ratings of your show compared to shows on other networks in their time slot don't really matter. It's a show's ratings vs. the ratings of all the *other* shows on the _same_ network that are the real competition. The "slowest" (lowest rated) shows relative to the others will be caught first by the bear which will "eat" (cancel) them and then they will be replaced with "fresh campers" (new shows) next season in the hopes that they will run faster.
I laughed when it mentioned the Emmies, Football, The Golden Globes, Apprentice, Bacholerette, and my DVR. Galavant is great at breaking the 4th wall. Nuff said.
I know this is old but I like to revisit Gal and his pals, especially with all the crazy going on in 2020. I'm glad I did though because I just noticed something. Since Isabella is locked away she doesn't know everyone is on a new song and is singing more like the season 1 song. 🤣
I absolutely adore this show! It's skillfully crafted and deliciously funny. The tongue in cheek factor is tremendous, but it still manages to bring a fresh perspective to all those traditional faerie tale story elements that puzzled us from childhood. It's a much fun show, with good music and lovely snarky bits in between the storytelling. I'm so glad it got renewed!
Long days and nights ago been searching for a show so funny and so low, like GA - LA - VANT And then this show have come delightful, funny, full of charm so many many laughs in GA - LA - VANT I hope its here to stay will watch it twice a day lets hear it for GAAAA LAAA VAAAAAAAANT ;)

Galavant is the best, funniest and most original show in decades. I wrote the network several times telling them how much I loved it with no response. I will keep all recorded eps forever as nothing this good ever gets shown again. Like watching Monty Python for the first time!
The show is great, the only problem is that it is made for a very specific audience (you know, the kind that likes Broadway, Monthy Phython AND Knights stories) I mean, it is so good that more people should be able to enjoy it... but let's be honest we're a bunch of nerds

That really gives me hope for my favorite show "The Quest". Our TV programm needs more refreshingly creative shows like Galavant & The Quest to stand up against all bacherlorettes & their sorts!
If Galavant can get a renewal , then I have high hopes for my favorite show, "The Quest," which was set in a similar setting! They could even reuse the castle at Valencia!

I actually really like this. You'd think the constant-fourth wall breaking would get old, but Menken's lyrics are just so hilarious, bordering on Sondheim, even!
I admit: I didn’t watch it when it was first airing… because I didn’t have access to ABC at the time. Instead, I caught it when it was on Netflix, but even then it took me an embarrassingly long time to get into: it simply wasn’t something I knew about or had heard of. In fact, I even put it on my queue because I thought it was a different sort of show than it was and started watching it because I was in the mood for a fantasy action show I’d never seen. Simply the best mistake and I was blown away. I immediately stopped and restarted it with my wife when she got home. We watched the entire show a few times. I wish I could still easily pursue the show again, but it’s not currently readily available. Such a shame! I want to show it to friends and family! It’s so great!
It could have done with a third season, but I am glad it wasn't milked like, "Once Upon a Time". This show was aired in poor time slots and wasn't really advertised well. Honestly, given those disadvantages, this could have been a very popular show, were it in more prime slots.
