It also makes the gift even better to Madelena (with her evil-leaning mentality). She has their prized possessions, the symbol that to her embodied to her how glam those queens were, and she also has a token reminder that they got severely painful punishment for "roasting" her, plus they're now disfigured and likely to never live it down.
It's so much sadder once you realize that those women are likely the ones who made Madalena who she is today. She always felt like she had to grab at any power she could so she wouldn't feel like that little girl again who was made to feel like she was nothing because of her position in life.
Yeah, they taught her how a Queen acts... like a bitch to her inferiors. I don't mean this to slag on Maddie. I really think she was fairly nice prior to her abduction, or at least nicer (or Gal would have commented). I think, for her, tilting sharply bitch-ward is just what the nobs *do*.
I think that's the point of this song. It was a reflection of all the times she fought her way to the top just so could be accepted by those queens, but now that she realizes they are just evil bitches, what was the point of her fight? All those people she hurt and things she had done and for what? To still be mocked by the people she thought would praise her.
I remember during the first season I though " yep Richard is a dick, will never like Richard" Now I love him and think he's a precious baby. Then I moved on to hating Madalena thinking " No, she's irredeemable, I'll never like her, she really sucks" Now I just want her and Gareth to develop feelings for one another and have a happy ending. Why does this show do this to me!
There's a subtle, yet delightfully positive turn the final lines take after Gareth gives her the ear(ring)s and she kisses him. "What is this feeling?" goes from questioning a bad feeling to questioning a good feeling.
You know, that thing with the earrings, I was actually touched and kinda disturbed the first time. That was actually very sweet, in a disturbed kind of way
I LOVE the change in tone at 2:26. I LOVE musicals that have a song begin with one meaning than take a 180 into s different theme. This was well done. This Show was Amazing and under appreciated. I really with Season 3 wasn't cancelled and am Glad they had a basic FU to the Network.
All characters have a backstory and we finally got to see her backstory and what made her power hungry and cruel and it's heartbreaking and beautiful she admitted that she hide her feelings till she stopped having them so she could gain power and respect but it's never enough
This show is so delightfully creative and weird with its catchy tunes, and enticing energy, that I never want an episode to end. I often would get stuck between Downton Abbey and Galavant because they were broadcast at the same time on Sunday evenings. Now that Downton Abbey is ending, bring on Galavant!!!
I wish them all well, some of them have gotten other work, but the Prince, and Galavant I have not seen working anywhere else. I at least have bought the two seasons on dvd. Curiously, the maid from the show was also the kitchen maid on the 'Abbey'.
Rodney Brown I know that comment is old, but if you're talking about King Richard he has been on other shows. One thing I've known him from since before Galavant is Supernatural. Timothy Omundson also does many Supernatural conventions if you'd like to see them :)
@@eliburry-schnepp6012 Funny enough, ABC actually LOVED Galavant even though audiences weren't giving it the views they hoped for. Season 1 didn't get high viewership but ABC still gave it a second season to wrap up the plot and conclude the tale in a happy way. It's one of the ONLY times I've seen a network be nice to a show like that. I think it helps that Disney owes Alan Menken so much for his work on soundtracks that they wanted to allow his passion project to be shown to the world.
To all of the people out there saying "this is one of the few serious songs in this entire show," a serious song does NOT contain the lyric: "could I be feeling somehow?" Also, I do love how in any other shows, a man giving his girlfriend decapitated ears as a gift would be a creepy villainous reveal, but in this one it's a touching heartfelt moment. I honestly think Gareth and Madalena's relationship is one of the best love stories ever written, and I'm saying that with complete and total seriousness.
+cheese4g Actually, it can contain those lyrics. Some people are just so unaccustomed with their own feelings (and I'm talking from experience) that some "violent" feelings, like love for exemple, can actually be a little scary. So Madalena's reaction might be an exageration but it's supposed to be some kind of fairy tale, so it's normal if she's a little archetypal.
Remember the whole "as much as someone like me can love anyone" bit? Madalena has, up to this point, exhibited traits of a complete sociopath. To legitimately have a connection with someone must be TERRIFYING for her.
Coral Roper she's actually a classic case of histrionic personality disorder, dramatic, craves attention, relationships are mainly sexual or serve a purpose somehow, frustrated when things don't go her way, and willing to eliminate obstacles with any means necessary.
They probably wouldn't be able to show it because of song rights, but I could just picture Mallory breaking into this song turning one of the outtakes in that episode.
Yes, if it had been just the earrings without the ears she probably would have thrown them away and yell to Gareth that he doesn't understand. The ears showed that he does understand.
Re-humanizing Madalena was one of the best ideas the writers had. It gave the show so much more depth.
Yes. And this is one of my favorite songs from the entire show. Strangely moving.
Never thought I would say "awww" over a box of bloody, disembodied ears, but dang if that doesn't bring a tear to a glass eye.
It might sound creepy but I actually go Awww when I saw the ears with the earring.
+Sorita hin I did too :P
that was the point though, and without the ears it wouldn't make sense how he got them
It also makes the gift even better to Madelena (with her evil-leaning mentality). She has their prized possessions, the symbol that to her embodied to her how glam those queens were, and she also has a token reminder that they got severely painful punishment for "roasting" her, plus they're now disfigured and likely to never live it down.
they might be disfigured. they might be dead.
So did I but it's not creepy. We know how the queen is and that it's a sweet gesture to her. XD
The ears themselves are what have the real meaning to her, the earrings are just how she authenticates them.
"I forgot to take the ears off." Favorite line from Gareth.
“No, I like them this way. Thank you 😚”
Those two have the best toxic relationship. Forget joker and Harley this should be relationship goals
@@joshoxborrow2314 I wouldn’t call it a toxic relationship more toxic people having a healthy relationship…well up till she falls for DDEW anyway
@@MelanyMoeller The way Gareth's face just says "OK then"... 😅
At the start of the new season, I didn't foresee Gareth and Madalena becoming my favorite couple
Eh not sure anyone can beat Gareth and Madalena
SAME! That's why I was crushed when I found out they cancelled season 3!
Right lol
I think it says a lot that this is Magdalena's healthiest relationship.
It's so much sadder once you realize that those women are likely the ones who made Madalena who she is today. She always felt like she had to grab at any power she could so she wouldn't feel like that little girl again who was made to feel like she was nothing because of her position in life.
And so she wouldn't have to kill her goat.
Yeah, they taught her how a Queen acts... like a bitch to her inferiors.

And now they have no ears. GOOD! They made me so mad for picking on Madalena.

Idk but I will say it already has me interested xD.
"how can I unfeel, the way I feel today?" man i love that line

Gareth and Madalena deserved another whole season for them.
You know, that thing with the earrings, I was actually touched and kinda disturbed the first time. That was actually very sweet, in a disturbed kind of way
Which is why it suits those two.
Yeo
This just might be the most romantic gesture I've ever seen on screen.
The bit with the ears kind of sums up the show as a whole in how it can be so many things at the same time.
God i love madalena's voice so much, this song is perfect
Gareth is such a sweetheart...you know, aside from the rampant violence.
I love how Gareth gets this determined look on his face, and then pushes off from the door. It seems so realistic, it's almost creepy.
Aida has discovered feelings. SHUT HER DOWN!
NerdSync HAHAH 😂. I was looking for Aida comments
got my crossbow
I'd love to see an outtake from season 4 with Aida/Ophelia breaking out into this song after Fitz declares it's Jemma he loves.
haha! yess
HAHAHA YES!!! Lol Aida!!!
Possibly the most romantic thing in a TV show in a very long time.
When I watched this I was like, “How bizarrely wholesome.”
Madelena is a character I love to hate, and its nice to see her get some development.

Galavant's on the show "No Tomorrow" where he plays a guy convinced the world's going to end in X amount of days, so they should live it up
I like that her dress is very similar to her wedding dress when she is vulnerable
I want more Galavant so bad
That song, and her voice, is just so moving. Beautiful.
Those earrings look like a gift Gomez Adams would hand over lovingly to Morticia for their anniversary.
Complete with the severed ears :)
I just want to hug her.
oh my god this almost made me cry! so touching
"What am I feeling?
Is it a feeling?"
I missed how funny this song is the first time around. I hate that we didn't get more seasons.
BRING BACK GALAVANT!
I can't believe this show was canceled!
The network screwed them over, it sucks.
ABC always does that lol.
At least it was on ABC and got two seasons... if it was on Fox it wouldn't even have gotten one.

Let's agree to disagree.
Goodnight my Friend is a fairly serious, sweet song as well
we need season 3
this is one of the most beautiful and realistic love songs out there
"If I am feeling some stupid feeling,
"Why cant it just go away?"
- literally every Capricorn ever when feelings get in the way of progress.
How can that be so gruesome and touching at the same time? I miss this show so much!
Normally I don't like madelenas voice even though it's so strong but in a song like this her soft voice sounds amazing
I ship Gareth and Mad now!
+♚ QUEEN OF OBSCURE PAIRINGS ♚ ME TOO.
i juz love this song so much, it's true dat u cant unfeel what u feel
This was the most touching song in the whole series ❤
Goodnight my Friend is a contender, but yes it is.
For me the most touching is will my day ever come.

I'm starting to like Mallory Jensen, especially after seeing her play Aida in Agents of Shield.
You know I just caught that Gareth said earrings that the queens HAD instead of have. JESUS, Gareth.
AIDA, I know that it must be a new experience for you!
When Aida touches the dark hold...
I understood that reference
Garalena forever 😭🥺❤️
Shipping them! Hope there is another season so we can see him rescue her.
this song is amazing
The song they write to win all the awards!
I imagine Aida will sing this once the darkhold can give her real emotions
Harry Nelson so glad I’m not the only one who made this comparison

Yup! Exactly!
I WANT ANOTHER SEASON PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD OR I WILL KEEP USING CAPS!
This song? It was the first time I really felt sorry for Madalena.
this show is soooo BRILLIANT!!! Plz hv season 3 Plz Plz Plz
This song broke my heart, even though Madelina was so freaking men. "How can I unfeel the way i feel today?" That hurt
It's the most romantic present ever!
Just when you think Madalena might be getting a heart, she "likes them this way." 😂
Would love a season 3 around her
aida after fitz said there isn't more room in his heart besides jemma
She should have sang this after emerging as an inhuman on Agents of SHIELD.
Not giving us a season 3 when they had set it up so perfectly is unforgivable.
I miss this series
Please renew this show :'(((
I love it all so much
Now THAT'S my kind of boyfriend.
as a sociopath trying to be good, this song hits hard
Sweet Christmas, i loove madalena's songs but this one, maybe you're not the worst thing ever and i love you are the bessst
