I watched the show for the first time earlier this year and I was surprised by how little reviews/commentaries are out there about it. Truly a hidden gem.
Such an excellent show way ahead of its time!
"The two of them set off on a hero's journey"
Me, reflexively: 🎵 I'M OFF ON A HERO'S JOURNEY / OUT WHERE ADVENTURE LIES 🎵
8 years later and I'm still sad this got cancelled.
x2
When Galavant was on Netflix, I gave it a shot... One of the best decisions I've ever made! Holy crap, I love this series! Once it left Netflix, I bought Galavant on DVD. I suggest it to all my friends and fellow lovers of the Renaissance festival.
Please, please tell them to stream it on Hulu OFTEN. (It's not on Netflix any more, and DVDs are now impossible to buy.) The show is on Hulu because Disney owns Hulu and Disney made "Galavant," but if it's not streamed on Hulu, it might vanish entirely. It was missing from all streaming for almost two years after Disney pulled it off Netflix and before Disney dumped it onto Hulu. We need to all stream it a lot, so Disney sees there is an audience for it and KEEPS it on Hulu.
Other streaming services are entirely removing whole series lately and I fear the same could happen to "Galavant."
@@cruz9530 I bought the DVDs off of Amazon.
Here's the REAL question: When was the last time you watched something that made you feel GOOD at the end?
For the last 20 years everything on TV or in theaters has been dark and gritty and full of so much angst it feels like a middle school exploded all over hollywood. Every. Single. Thing. that studios are making will leave you feeling depressed and moody - or worse, depressed and moody are the best you can hope for.
Galavant will just make you happy. Every episode will leave you feeling excited and warm and full of joy joy feelings. Nobody else can say that.
I fell in love with Timothy from psych when he played Carlton Lassiter but now I have to watch this show for him 😊
Update for no one I’ve watched the entire series now and my heart is both happy and hurt
@@tunes12569 I'm so glad you loved it! I went the other way around -- I fell in love with Richard, and went to find Psych to see what else Omundson could do. Now I'm a confirmed Psych-O too!
I have no idea who you are, but any video praising Galavant gets a watch and a like from me!
I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when the show was announced. As soon as all the episodes came out, I checked it out online, or Netflix. After the first episode, I FELL IN LOVE. It’s funny, it’s entertaining, it’s got great acting, and it’s got a great story too! Plus, the songs are so damn catchy! And everybody does a great job of singing! And I like the main trio, but I also love Richard too! First time finding out he had a cook’s father executed his response is shock and “I’m such a bully!”. Lmfao 🤣 and as it goes on you can’t help but enjoy Richard, and his character development too! Even though I wish they could’ve had a third and final season, I Am so glad they gave the show a good ending (definitely better than game of thrones’ ending).
Greetings, Beth here! I am always looking for more Galavant content to consume and this video brought me so much joy, Galavant is my favorite show and it deserves all the love it can get. I can't believe this wasn't on my radar sooner! Amazing watch
I did watch Galavant with my family as it aired, and we loved it for all the reasosn you shared. I might have to rewatch. 8^)
I thought you might be interested to know (and sorry if you know already) -- Timothy Omundson is perfect as Richard, yet the network didn't want him for the role. The creator, Dan Fogelman, did want him to play Richard, but network Powers That Be seemed desperate to get a bigger, and British, name for the role; I suspect that Disney/ABC was nervous about this strange little medieval musical, and wanted the insurance of having some well-known British star they could tout in advertising. Omundson had to audition repeatedly, then wait for five months while the network offered the role to at least two British actors (never named)--and he was well aware that this was going on. Thank goodness, no one bit. Omundson nearly chucked in the whole thing after all this auditioning and waiting, but wanted the role so much he hung on. Finally, Fogelman got his wise way, and Omundson got the part. He's called it the greatest role he's ever had, which is saying something, considering his long, varied career up to that point. The idea of anyone else as Richard...well, it's just, as the British would say, "not on"!
Thank you for this excellent tribute and recap of my favorite show. Good to know it's on Hulu now, I'm always trying to recommend it to my friends.
I watch this show literally once a year AT LEAST. I don't rewatch stuff this is like the absolute best show I've ever watched lol. Boosting this vid cause I want more people to watch my favorite show
My brain rolls for Performance every minute of every day and if the outcome is Nat 20, it blasts a random Galavant song over my regular thoughts for the next five hours. You could say I am still not over this show getting cancelled.
I miss this show so much 😢
Just found your video--Thank you! "Galavant" is a treasure and I always tell folks to be sure to stream it often on Hulu, or we might risk seeing it removed if it doesn't get enough viewership. DVDs are now impossible to buy. It disappeared from all streaming for almost two years (between leaving Netflix and finally being dropped onto Hulu by Disney, which never knew what to do with this show). Galavanters need to watch it plenty and tell Hulu and Disney that this gem mustn't ever disappear!
Thanks again for the wonderful tribute to this unique show!
I always really liked medieval shows like Merlin, and I’ve always been really into Disney. So of course when I was younger and this show comes out that has THE Alan Menken writing its songs, I had to watch it. I watched one episode with my parents and then never got to see another episode because this was when Netflix was still dvds. Years later, I was in highschool and we’d had the streaming Netflix for a while, a familiar show pops up: Galavant. I watched both seasons in three days. I’ve had a playlist of all the songs, created a love for the show in all my siblings as well, and purchased the dvds so I’ll never be without. I will forever sleep well knowing that I’m one of the lucky few who knows this exists.
I discovered and watched the entire thing yesterday, I was following Vinnie Jones's IMDB filmography, loved his character, for me Gester was one of my favorite characters, so relatable 😅
A true masterpiece (your video AND Galavant of course😉)
I love this! Great job. Definitely watching Galavant - and your series. Thanks! 🤗
Richard was indeed the best part of the show.
Damn!
I really wish we'd gotten at least one more season to wrap things up!
This was a great show. "The bastard child of Monty Python and The Princess Bride" is a great way to describe it. It also reminded me very much of Robin Hood men in tights, another classic.
I just watched Galavant (I am in Canada and season 2 is near impossible to find), I am a huge fan of Timothy Omundson from Psych and wanted to check it out. I fell in love, Richard and Tad Cooper were definitely the best characters. You hit the nail on the head with this.
Man so this is where the cool kids hang out huh love the video good job
"I am just some random guy"
A series that makes this joke is very precious.
thanks for the video! can't wait to see the next requiems you've prepared, undoubtedly they'll be as interesting 💛
I hate musicals, but I love the show most musicals are cheesy dumb and horrible this is funny and entertaining the music fits and makes sense and the people singing it can actually sing😮 the only problem I have with this show is it was way to short
Wonderful analysis and commentary :) I super believe in you!
A perfect summary of a great show!
I loved this show so much I started working on a proposal for season 3 where the Fashion Consultant would have been played by Ewan McGregor and his evil plot was to replace Galavant with himself and all the other characters with AAA celebrity equivalents. Sid would've been replaced by Donald Glover, Isabella would've been replaced by Naomi Scott (lots of meta humor available here since they both played Jasmine), Gareth would've been replaced by Ray Winstone, and Richard would've been replaced by Hugh Jackman. Everything is going well for the villains until Madalena finds out she's going to be replaced by Idina Menzel. Then she decides to team up with the original heroes to keep their jobs.
Sounds like you're off on a secret mission....
the crazy thing about this show is that is filmed in the UK has stars from here and has our humour but has never been shown here
Please say you've watched Psych. It's on netflix now and it's what got me to actually watch Galavant. I am actually obsessed with the show and once again Timothy Omundson is my favourite character.
I love King Richard so much
Richard and Roberta the best couple? Nahhh its the Chef and the seamstress!
Speaking of the music, the soundtrack is available.... one of only 2 soundtracks I bought (the other is "Phineas and Ferb")
I need season 3.
The king Richard is like Ice king 😂🧊
I need to rewatch this!! Not sure I ever finished it lol. And I totally forgot about the Weird Al monk💀
Okay, but Nomad of Nowhwre seems really cool with that imagine alone.
Sadly cancelled
wish there was a way for people to actually watch it
it's nowhere to be found online or available to buy on disc
neat!
Lassie!
i mean it's a musical from alan menken so you really can't go wrong
im sad they cancelled it😭
Eh. I did watch Galavant when it came out. While the bard's tongue in cheek commentary on their renewal status was fun, a lot of side characters feel unneccessary, i.e. padding.
