    Great information. Have started using the Iridium and it really amazing. My back is much happier from not lugging amps around. I used other more complicated modelers but as you point out, they created paralysis by analysis.

    Sad how much effort you put into your content and don’t have thousands of followers. I pray your channel starts to grow. Being we are in the worship scene we see a lot of Strymons. In fact, we have avoided Strymon to just to not be conformists. However, we have started using the Iridiums. Since we use in-ear monitors and play a variety of venues, they have been very nice.

    This is one of the better walk through reviews I have seen for the Strymon. Glad to hear the comparison to the Two Notes since they seem to be two affordable options.

      Thanks for the comment and positive feedback! I definitely liked the two notes being that they gave power amp emulation as well as cab Sim emulation but I concluded that the latency bothered me too much.

    It really should have come with a DI output with ground lift. If they did that for v2 I would grab it in a heart beat.

      That’s one of the main reasons I’m considering the DSM & Humboldt Simplifier as well as the DLX version. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to locate one to try out and the reviews on CZcams are done by people who don’t have clue how to dial it in or sound too good to be true.

    Very informative review, thanks! I recently got the iridium and I must say that it has an amazing tone and it's very amp-like. I got it mainly for a back up and silent practice at home, but because it's so good I'm thinking about building a pedalboard around it together with a hx effects. I've been using a Kemper with my band for a couple of years and it has treated me well, so I'm curious how the iridium will stand up in a live situation.

      My pleasure. Thanks for your feedback and comment! I say it’s a good direction to go down being that it’s modular and you could switch out overdrive tones and other effects versus being stuck to the built-in kemper stuff. The one thing I would keep in mind using the HX affects is that once you use the four cable method I believe that latency comes into the picture and to my ears it’s too noticeable. That's why I really like using the strymon in addition to the source audio because I find that there is no audible latency. I’m sure you could get the same results with strymon reverb and delays as well.

      @@benkleinmusic2858 thanks for your reply! I was thinking of putting the iridium in the (stereo) loop of the hx effects. That way I could use the hx's modulation after the iridium. Do you think that will give me latency issues? Haven't read about anyone combining the hx with the iridium, so it's unknown territory as far as I know. I would like to avoid having to get a bunch of pedals to get the sounds and fx that I need.

    • @benkleinmusic2858
      @benkleinmusic2858  Před 3 lety

      @@Jellydonutable No prob! I think that there will be some latency simply due to the HX effects having 1.8 ms and up of latency depending on the patch and how many effects running at once. I would try it out and see if you feel the latency. For me the feel is just as important to me as the sound when integrating digital and analogue.

      @@benkleinmusic2858 Thanks for the video. I’m looking into the Iridium for recording through my Apollo into Logic (still haven’t found an amp sim I love in UAD), and also direct into a Tascsm 8 track. Does it work well with one lead out in mono for recording (as opposed to two output leads)? I’ll most often be recording that way for convenience. Cheers

    so you said in the beginning your guitar thru the pedal board to the interface.
    at the end you said your GE-7 was the last pedal in your effects chain so my question is:
    Is the Iridium the "last" pedal in your chain going to the interface? How or what output is used from the Iridium?
    what is your last output that goes to a mixer or say a powered speaker for example?
    is the output of your signal chain-1/4" cable or xlr? Can you detail your your complete signal chain please?
    thanks.

    • @benkleinmusic2858
      @benkleinmusic2858  Před 2 lety

      Hey thanks for your question. So I actually put my delay and reverb after the Iridium so that it is post any drive coming from the iridium. After the Iridium I go to the boss GE7 for solo boost and then into the delay reverb. from there. I go out in stereo into a 4 cable patch bay on the side of my board and from there I use two 1/4 inch cables direct to front of house. Let me know if you have any other questions!

      I also love the Les paul tone. I had humbucker guitars for years such as the music man JP15 etc.. however I have expensive taste so I am waiting to buy a 58 or 59 Les Paul reissue with a royal tea burst like Knopfler:) As soon as I do I will review the iridium using it.

      It’s awesome having humbuckers, they hide a lot and are hot. I prefer single coils for note separation and clarity. What’s fun is that we can all enjoy different tools.
