  • Iridium by itself is a standout Amp Simulator. It's easy to use and you can plug it in and get a great sound right out of the box without looking at the manual - unlike some more complex counterparts.
    If you hook Iridium up to midi with an expression pedal, it goes from being an amp simulator to a combo amp sim, volume, EQ, Boost, Amp Selecting monster machine. You could go so far as to say its Hollywoods new power couple, "Midium" - When Iridium meets Midi.
    I fell in love with Iridium all over again filming this video, especially around using the expression pedal, expression pedal overrides and controlling multiple knobs with expression over midi.
    I barely scratched the surface on what is possible with this pedal while connected to midi. I know you'll find many additional uses for it on your pedalboard!

    Mind blown!!! I have the Iridium and was hoping that the MIDI control would be this powerful. I'll be looking forward to incorporating all of this with my other pedals.

    this is the best video about strymon single jack midi device - pbc/midi control... been trying to get presets saved on pbc 10 a few hours and no luck , until I found this video , thanks . Also the bypass control is life saver , turns out my sunset wasn't on midi channel I assigned to, so I fixed that too!!

    Hey there. Nice Video. Which cable did you use to connect the iridium? Regular TRS cable or some midi adapter. Is there also a way to change amps via cc? I am thinking about buying an iridium to use with boss es5. Thank you 😊

    • @GoodwoodAudio
      @GoodwoodAudio  Před 2 lety +1

      thanks for checking it out. I used a TRS cable with an isolated midi box (like the Morningstar Midi Box that converts 5 pin DIN to TRS but is isolated. Strymon also makes a cable that isolates the signal as well for about $30 or so! You can change amps and cabs via midi, yes!

    I love Iridium's MIDI implementation except for the audible gap between preset changes :/ I hope that can be fixed in firmware.

      Has there been a solution to this gap problem yet? Love the sound of the pedal but couldn’t really use any presets live within a song because of the gap.

    hello, thanks for your valuable advice.
    I have a question, probably very trivial, but I'm a newbie in midi programming.
    I have an iridium that I control with a musicomlab efx le II switcher. the question is, does the iridium need to be plugged into the audio loops of the switcher as well? change anything between midi-only connection, midi + audio?
    thanks, I hope I have explained my doubt well.

    • @GoodwoodAudio
      @GoodwoodAudio  Před rokem

      If I'm understanding you correctly, you do not have to put Iridium in a loop of your switcher, no. You can use midi to bypass it when you want to use amps or turn it back on / adjust settings etc. Lots of midi control with iridium!

    When Iridium is bypassed, can you play through an amp as you normally would? Is the signal affected at all?

    • @GoodwoodAudio
      @GoodwoodAudio  Před 3 měsíci

      you can! Not affected anymore than a standard bypassed pedal in your signal chain

      Midi A - but you also want to make sure your midi chain is isolated for strymon 1/4" pedals!

      @@GoodwoodAudio thanks a lot, much appreciated! Still figuring out how to get i to work though, what do you mean exactly by 'isolating the midi chain"?

    • @joeguitar7164
      @joeguitar7164 Před 23 dny

      after numerous attempts i bought the quite expensive midi-1/4 trs cable from strymon: everything works fine. there's some electronic moyo goin on inside: you cannot measure any direct connection from one side to the other. May be older versions of firmware did work with trs type A, but my iridium did not!

    • @GoodwoodAudio
      @GoodwoodAudio  Před 12 dny

      @@joeguitar7164 the midi inputs on strymon small box pedals need to be optically isolated. That's why they made Conduit. It prevents ground loops / noise issues when running multiple pedals like that.

    • @GoodwoodAudio
      @GoodwoodAudio  Před 3 lety +1

      @@garyclements6946 That's the RJM PBC (a midi controller / looper). Since it's midi you can access presets you've saved ON the Iridium and access other features on Iridium but you can't 'create' sounds on Iridium.. Sounds like semantics, but the midi controllers can only access what is already there rather than create.
