SAY. MY. NAME.
I can't believe I'm hearing this through one regular sized Strymon pedal. Absolutely fucking amazing.
very cool that Strymon uses what I presume to be their top DSP engineer to market their products rather than some flashy BS marketeer sales guy. I think that gives more credibility to their great products. Another great pedal, perhaps a bit pricey. I'd probably have to try it myself.
I've gotten two Strymon pedals, the Blue Sky and Lex, and while they cost a bit more than some high end pedals, they are well worth the money. I really love the "shimmer" feature of the Blue Sky, and if you like the sound of the original Leslie rotary speakers from the 1960s, you'll appreciate the Lex. I will buy more later, but am on a budget.
freshing , a breath of fresh air along with clear informative demos, pete Celi should be giving training seminars for how on line videos need to be done, I got all the used care salesman pitches that I will ever need to experience when I was a kid.I'm an adult now and appreciate presenter (like Pete) that address me as an intelligent adult.
WAY cheap compared to buying a Deluxe, VOX + Marshall and a tuned room.
@@scottnewellguitar Scott having run the numbers as factored in the construction costs , your comment has a 99.9999999 probability of being an accurate assumption (slaps forehead ) and sighs ) buh-duh!😷
@@duaneanderson6393 haha..I'm not 100% sure you're agreeing w me or making fun (it's hard to tell on here sometimes). But take construction of the room out, and you still can't get ANY of those three amps for no $400. My comment was a reply to someone who called the Iridium "pricey" (which is kinda ridiculous).
This might be the best pedal demo I've ever seen. There is a perfect balance of demonstration and a high-competence explanation of what's going on.
This guy Pete Celi, is a genius.
Folks, we simply are not worthy of the time we are living in; with regards to guitar/processing/effects/audio quality. This is a PLATINUM era.
i know. Its insane. to a 90s child studio enthusiast the contrast is astonishing
I’m really having a hard time believing what I’m hearing. This is absolutely incredible. Every other product I have had to “try” to like. And use the “it won’t be a noticeable difference in the mix” argument. This is crazy!! You guys have definitely sold me.
Amazing. We have all heard tons of ir's and amp models. After all I am again impressed with strymon quality. It sounds very round and ballanced.
What a beautiful sounding pedal! amazing! and it's great how Pete describes it all, same as he did with Volante. It's very interesting how he tells a little about the idea behind each feature. Totally awesome!
Sold my Kemper when I got the Iridium, amazing!! I’m really hoping they decide to add more amp models. Downloadable would be ideal! Well done Strymon!
I honestly didn't see you guys coming out with an amp/cab pedal, but this thing sounds amazing and it's checking all the right boxes for features and sound!
Thank you!
Jonny McCormick couldn’t have said it any better
Moving into an apartment, trying to figure out how I was going to use my current pedal board but play through headphones... THANK YOU... Ill add this after my Volante and Blue Sky. Love you strymon!!
Thank you!!
This is one of the most helpful tour/demos I have ever seen. Well done.
Thank you!
Pete Celi the clearity and detail of your demos are always informitive and very entertaining . After your demos I find that the featured products end up on my list of gear to purchase.
Your relaxed style is refreshing while being crissp.
Thank you!
This video subtracted 400 dollars from my bank account
This is so cool! Sounds amazing! What a great direct solution!
You really got me.
I already have lots of your devices and a MESA Mark V and STILL I want this. Very nicely done.
Love the tones. Ordered one today. Did you notice at 16:37 the max tone of 10 is at 2 o'clock on the drive, and at 17:20 he gets even more gain. Almost looks like he's trying to out do Spinal Tap's Vol going to eleven, where he goes to twelve or thirteen. Almost no longer need a distortion pedal. Sounds good.
Got the email yesterday. This post was put up today and already has 29,253 views. Hope it doesn't take too long to get one.
Another great pedal from Strymon. Matrix modeling, give Pete the materials, components, and labor that is needed and in 10 years or less, he will be able to transport you, your Strymon pedals, amps, and guitars to the planet of your choice and have you back to earth in time for supper. Pete is a genius. Thank you.
Forallofus Plenty LOL 😂
I love the simplicity of this pedal. It makes my Yamaha speaker sound good as a guitar amp and I can get a few different colors out of it, depending on what I'm going for.
Oh Pete. (did you hear him say): Recorded in Stereo @ 96kHz - that represents the highest quality impulse responses available. With that level of fidelity the intricacies of the time response and the interaction between the cabinet and mic's, can be captured in faithful detail. = Well Pete, . . . You just Sold Me !!! I already have The Big Sky and the Zuma. Love you guys/gals @ Strymon.
Everything you guys make is unbelievably good. The quality is unmatched in my opinion. Thank you for all your hard work. I’m returning my hx stomp. I just love the simplicity of this and how easy it is to get the sound you want.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Appreciate it so much :)
strymon No, thank you! You’ve inspired me and thousands of musicians around the world to push their creativity. You can tell that your passion fuels your gift. Please continue pushing the limits.
@@Mdogbrown We absolutely will and it helps fuel us to hear this. Thank you!
What a fantastic demo. I just bought one, and I'm absolutely blown away.
Just got mine. Superb. Ive tried several other modelled amps - none are as good as Iridium. Now i can concentrate of playing better rather than constantly fiddling to find a realistic and inspiring tone
Appreciate you taking the time to share that. Thank you so much!
I appreciate your demos and your playing .
I began purchasing Strymon products with the Deco, that has worked out wonderfully for me
. the demo has helped me decide on my next purchase. thank you
Thank you so much :)
I finally got my Strymon Iridium, It sounds amazing, I can record a great guitar tone now. Thanks Strymon great job👍
So awesome to hear. Thank you! Please share if you post any songs :)

What did you replace the 2 Iridium pedals you had with? @dovydas
@@i528DNA yes. Walrus ACS1
Hey Strymon!! If you decide to expand the Iridium to a Timeline sized pedal, I would recommend a built in XLR direct out.
I need this in my life. This will pair nicely with my Riverside.
Had this for a few weeks now and used it in a large hall live, totally delighted! Ok not cheap, but worth every penny.
Wow, Punch with Drive dialed back + Cab A is a beautiful clean tone!
Woah this thing sounds awesome. I really enjoy Pete’s thorough demos.im getting closer and closer to not using my tube amp much. And this is ideal for bedroom recording artists like myself.
Thanks Pete and Strymon! I love the Iridium and use it mostly at home as a silent practice tool or recording device. Either, straight out of the box, or, sometimes feed the output of my tube amps with a torpedo captor into the iridium (amp section disabled). So the Iridium then acts simply as a cab loader, and I can play my tube amps with headphones. Also for recording, I sometimes use the Iridium with the CAB section disabled and select IRs in my DAW. Great product, a lot of use cases.
Picked mine up today. After 5 minutes, done. The quest is over! So impressive.
Thank you!
Excellent thorough demo of a fantastic pedal!
the only creative solution i see now instead of worrying about amps and mics for home recording...ive seen countless demos and the IRIDIUM is true tone and maximum playability....well done STRYMON...
Thank you!
Shipped and using it in my pedalboard in Bangladesh. Even if its 90% of the tone that's more than enough. Thank you strymon for fitting a VOX AC30 plus 8 other amps into a pedal which I would never ever have gotten in my country. A freaking awesome pedal for 400$!!!
Thank you :)
Pete is the best kind of musical engineering mad scientist there is...
Waited for all the fuss to die down and ordered mine today :) Can't wait......Great presentation Pete, very intense in a relaxed kinda way :)
Just purchased and plugged in my new Iridium pedal, straight into a Focusrite Scarlett Solo into PC.
Put some pedals.. OCD, Fulltone Mas Malo and a HOOF FUZZ.Gibson Les Paul.
Instant Love! Pure, rich tones throughout and so versatile with the built in cabs.
I use a Kemper for recording normally and this sounds just as good.Well done Stryman.
Really cool! This is such a great thing to have in this form factor.
Great, in-depth demo. Thanks, Pete.
as a beginner, its really hard to dial in good tones but this video is so straight forward and easy. I love the fact he played simple chords and went through a lot of possible settings. I played along to each and everyone of them....and it all started out because I wanted to compare the Fender amp on my HX Stomp. Sorry Line 6, Iridium sounds richer but I'll keep you as an fx unit. AWESOME VIDEO - TOTAL LIFE SAVER!! MANY THANX PETE!!!!!
Can't wait! I get mine on Monday! My back thanks you!
Fender, VOX, and Marshall. Covering all ground. Interested to hear how the drive tones sustain, which is the gap usually found in modeling high gain.
Wow this is great! To my ears it nailed those original amp tones.
I've had this for a year and a half now and I love it.
Dammit strymon, you keep knocking it out of the park every time!
This man does superb demos!
Geniuses... that’s what you all are. Wonderful job. Picking one up ASAP
Some things I believe is missing that would make this pedal perfect:
- FX loop
- Vibrato/Tremolo knobai available in some fender/vox amps (comparing with the milkman pedal)
- A way to control room/reverb and trem/vibr from a midi controler
- Computer interface
That'd be my perfect pedal
+1 to this idea. Make it the size of a Volante box, call it Iridium+.
Always cool stuff going on at strymon!
Hell yeah! Sounds really awesome!
Wow, got Iridium yesterday and have to say that this is a game changer for me. Thank you Strymon!
I'm impressed! Love it.
That punch amp in clean drive setting is gold.
Ordered mine yesterday looking forward to working with it.
extremely impressive stuff yet again.
The perfect pedal for the bedroom producer, gotta have it ✨🍭
Wow this thing sounds really good!
Ordered today. The Deco blew me away so I have great hopes for the Iridium!
Definitely on my wish list . You did it again. CongratZ
I’m
Very happy for Strymon & yes, I want a Iridium.
But I GOTTA say,
‘Damage Control’ rocked.
So impressed by this demo I ordered one from Sweetwater.......2 year warranty when new. Now it's got to challenge my Effectrode Blackbird.......we'll see.
I've had the Iridium for about a week now, and on boy, this thing is incredible. Even better than I had hoped. I've have lots of years spent on Fenders and Marshalls, but not so much on Vox amps. The Fender and Marshall sounds are definitely on the money. Totally sounds like a well mic'd amp/cab. I've been enjoying getting to know the Chime amp, and it's also fantastic. Swapping out cabs in the IR software is very easy and painless. I didn't particularly like the BJ cab on the Round amp, so I swapped in the 412 that usually pairs with the Punch amp, and they are awesome together. Just a tip for anyone that isn't crazy about a particular stock cab, just try one of the other 6 from the other two amps. Everything pairs well together. You'll definitely find something you like. Not even much need to buy into any 3rd party IRs unless you want to. Keeping it simple is Strymon's game and they do it perfectly here. Lots of nuance in the knobs, and takes pedals very well. I've paired it with an SP Comp, Muffuletta, Sovereign, Timmy, and Formula 5F6 dirt pedals with great success. Strymon DIG and Source Audio Ventris after the Iridium is brilliant. Can't say enough good things about the Iridium. Well done Strymon.
Thank you so much! What a wonderful post to read. I have passed along to the team :)
Honestly, no complaints and no regrets. I took a chance on this pedal
when it first came out and I've been using it for almost a year now. It
becomes easier to spot the more you have used it when using sounds you
are used to. If it's a sound you have never heard before or can't A/B
it then it is much harder to detect...or I am unable to. Even knowing
that it's not 100% as real as an amp, it comes so close that it's a pure
joy to use and it's my go to pedal when I can't cut loose with my
amp...I use this pedal probably 95% of the time. I mostly use
headphones with it and the stereo with reverb is nothing short of fantastic. Mostly I
would recommend using it with the gain on zero when using other pedals. Typically I just use this pedal and headphones cuz I can get more of a great sound with this than I can with pedal setup and cranking my amp for some time.
When the iridium gain is cranked it sounds great on it's own. It also does
this crazy awesome "edging on feedback just as an amp would" thing which is really cool when
using higher gain settings and headphones. I'm not sure how Strymon
pulled that off but it's really cool and you don't have to deafen
yourself or piss off the neighbours...it's actually sort of confusing because you know you are not running through a cranked amp but your ears are telling you the amp is heading for feedback but it holds and (good or bad) never gets out of control.
I would say there is a small delay while this pedal is processing but so short that it's like your amp was
just a little further away....and almost all settings I would not be able to
detect any processing delay. Some setting seemed to be a little more
processor intensive than others. I would love to see a version with an
effects send and return so you didn't have to go "into the front of the
amp". Otherwise I use this as a stand alone headphone amp and it's so
far beyond anything you'll do with another headphone setup that I've
heard or heard of. FYI I've never used any other profiler or cab
sim....only because they all had complaints on so many CZcams
vids....so I bought this and I'm very happy with it. The only thing I
wanted to be different was to have an effects loop but I would only sell
this if they made a newer/large format version with send/return
/presets etc.
Thanks for sharing this great review and for the feedback! Appreciate it :)
@@strymon Thank you all for making ass-kicking pedals. Cheers.
This is a cool product. Strymon will build a whole own system to create beautiful sound
Thanks Pete, I’ve ordered it today
great pedal, very useful and well done promo
Being able to use this in my effects loop will be so awesome... power up modes provide a way to defeat the cabinet half of the pedal. Also if I want to use one of my vintage amps (post power tubes/line level) as the pre-amp, and JUST access the IRs Is also a choice! Amazing. As real as this sounds, this is a Swiss Army knife off "everything you need."
I always visit you guys at Namm and I can't wait to try this thing out in January. See you guys underneath the escalator!
See you in January!
Very nice demo !!
Wow - Breakin' Bad dude totally knows his amps. Great demo!
Fantastic tones. I think I’m SOLD! Wow!
Everywhere you look nowadays it's a line of Strymon pedals with a HX Stomp on the end - I guess this might change that for a lot of people!
So, a question, asked in earnest: this is totally amazing, and I’m very close to buying one, but the new UA Apollo was just released, and includes a few of their amp plug-ins. Putting together my home studio now, desktop setup. Talk me into-or out of-one or the other?
A few recommendations after spending about 6 hours with the unit this weekend.
First: use Pete's demo here to calibrate your board. In other words; pause the video at the first setting he shows and set your boards output so that you have the right amount of head room. I had my Boss EQ-200 Presets all set at 50% master level. My board wasn't pushing enough volume to allow for Pete's first demo'd Fender sound with breakup (the tweed sound) to achieve breakup. I dimed my master volume on the EQ-200 and bumped the patch level EQ in the ES-5 to the max 6db. That allowed me to mimic Pete's tweed settings and pretty closely replicate the sound. Once you have it calibrated, the others are all pretty much in line.
Second: Closely follow the instructions to set EXP jack to DIGITAL Mode & how to
set the MIDI Channel here www.strymon.net/support/iridium/
Third: when using a midi controller to create presets (it's the only way to create presets) commit a group of banks and use the first preset to calibrate by setting the round amp on cab a with all knobs set to 12 oclock. Follow closely the instructions for Saving and Recalling Presets on Iridium with MIDI here www.strymon.net/support/iridium/
After creating the first calibration preset, copy that patch on your ES-5 to the next patch. Create next preset, save patch, then copy patch and keep on truckin in that manner.
The way Strymon has this set up, it essentially requires a midi controller to "place" or "force" into the Iridiums preset locations the settings you control with the knobs. Be sure to closely follow the steps to create a preset located here www.strymon.net/support/iridium/
TIP: after creating each patch, back out of the ES-5 and the Iridium as if you have just booted up your board and test the previous patches with assigned presets up through the latest patch and preset.
It's a ton oh work, but if you really want to see this pedal at it's full potential, I recommend using it in conjunction with a MIDI Controller. If it were more like say the Neunabor Neuron with the ability to create and store 6 presets without the need for a MIDI controller, I'd feel differently.
As it is currently and at this price point, spending $400 to have this for 1 config based on however you have the knobs dialed in + just one "Fav" setting isn't a good value. However, couple this with a MIDI Controller and the value proposition changes entirely.
Thank you for the tips! Much appreciated! One question, Are you using the Strymon midi controller, which I believe is around $150, or something else, hopefully cheaper, to do the job?
....otherwise strymon should have done a visual editor (midi) as the others brands do .....or simply integrate the great iridium into their editor Nixie!!! frustrating!
It’s amazingly accurate!
Very interesting, sounds great!
This pedal is the best pedal I've ever had.
I would like to see a demo to see how this plays with the Riverside and Sunset pedals . Sounds like you could get a lot of amp and overdrive pedal combinations out of this.
Martin Edwards czcams.com/video/-xrJXOz3ydc/video.html
This is such a cool product. I'm most likely going to get one, but I really wish it had a balanced XLR output (not that I'm going to be playing live through a PA anytime soon).
So you wish it had a feature you won't be using. Amazing contribution to the discussion.
@@lambdaman3228 soon, I didn’t say never. Plus, I prefer it for recording.
@@lambdaman3228 also, if you weren’t totally clueless, you’d notice the date when I made the comment. Most people weren’t playing in public, in my area at least, when I wrote this comment.
Best believe as soon as my Blackstar modeling head sells I'll be picking one of these up. This is literally like every guitar amp I've ever considered rolled into a pedal. Any suggestions for one of your overdrives that will get along well as a boost running into this? I'm thinking of smooth yet high gain modern metal tones.
You can get great overdriven to heavy sounds when pairing Iridium with either Sunset or Riverside depending on what you are looking for. You should check out the videos we have for both.
More floating point witchcraft from Strymon. Well done guys.
This thing sounds incredible
Dangerously convincing sounding.
This guy would be such a good teacher !
Fantastic Pedal!
When plugging this into a recording interface, like the Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 in my example, should you set the 1/4" inputs on the Focusrite to Instrument or Line Level? Also, should you use unbalanced or balanced 1/4" cables to connect Iridium to the interface?
We recorded using the instrument inputs on a Focusrite Clarett 8Pre X, however Iridium can output at line level, and you can adjust Iridium's output level using its Level knob. So, either way should work for you. Iridium's outputs are unbalanced, so you can use unbalanced (TS) instrument cables.
@ghost mall No, the output level is entirely determined by what the DRIVE and LEVEL settings are set to. Let me know if that helps! Feel free to email us at support@strymon.net for more info as well.
Genius Dude. Genius Company.
Great demo. It would be great if Strymon would produce a video demonstrating the Iridium with a midi controller; especially the DMC Gen3, since Strymon recommends that unit. I own both the Iridium and the DMC-3xl, and I am having trouble putting them together.
Thank you for the feedback. I will pass that along to our video person :)
Your timing is perfect! I'm trying to downsize ... well ... everything. I'm sure this has been addressed but does it play nice with other pedals such as modulation, overdrive, wah, etc? What would the chain look like if my goal is to go through the PA?
yes, you can just place the pedals as you normally would with an amplifier. Wah, overdrive, modulation typically before Iridium with delays and reverbs after Iridium. Then, take that signal to the PA. Use a DI box if you have grounding noise or require balanced connections.
This has been out for awhile now and has been receiving some interesting competition since though not always identical. Can we expect a V2 update of the iridium coming down the wire? Maybe with an added amp type like a mesa or soldano or jcm800🤞🏽. Gotta do it before UA or Walrus does
Very informative
Just when I was happy with my Helix LT. Damn !
You're killing my wallet, Strymon! ❤
a fantastic video! I have a doubt. Would it be possible to make intentional couplings with Iridium? Thank you.
Hello! Not sure what you are describing here. If you have any more questions please email support@strymon.net. Thanks!
Nice. Do hope most those intriguing insights into each amp model's controls are included within the manual. That's some useful info for anyone that does want to exercise the pony beyond just a few tricks like we all sometimes find ourselves locked into.
Yes, we provide this information in the manuals for Iridium and the support section of our website.
I LOVE Strymon!!
sounds great!
