The pedal-sized Strymon Iridium gives you the tube staging, tone stack, and touch response of three iconic amplifiers, each with three corresponding cabinet choices, all in a line-level stereo output which you can send straight to FOH. No amp required. Iridium's Class A JFET preamp handles your guitar and stomps just like a true tube amp. Its analog front end feeds a powerful 2-stage DSP processor which carefully approximates the tube bais, harmonic breakup, cone compression, and EQ interaction of some of your favorite front ends. Whether you're playing the blues through chunky American 1x12 or raising the roof through a dimed British high-watt, the Strymon feels and handles much like your favorite stacks and combos.

Dude really knows what he's talking about. Nice.
The best review of this pedal! Discovered features that others CZcamsrs didnât even mention. Well done Sweetwaterđđ»
As an Axe-FX III user, I got admit, this looks like an extremely simple, yet amazing sounding device. Also, everything Iâve ever touched with s Strymon badge on it has been a top-shelf product. Iâm sure the Iridium will NOT disappoint.
Thanks strymon for messing up all my choices for a new amp
After owning one - I would argue that they just made your choice easier. This thing is awesome.

stratstyle 97 crazy right? Wouldâve loved a two rock....still would
Iâm definitely Saving for an iridium
I like that adding gain for distortion doesn't raise the volume. I finally resorted to using multiple distortion pedals set to various amounts of distortion at the same volume to eliminate the problem of volume change at different distortion amounts on one pedal being changed on the fly for different songs.
There is at least $5000 worth of amps & cabs in this little pedal. Well done Strymon, and a fantastic review too!
Awesome pedal! Now Strymon needs to take the best of the Big Sky and Timeline to create a Reverb/Delay combo pedal called the BigTime đ€
SkyLIne!
Either of those are great names
Skyline is a great name. The Nissan Skyline was/is an awesome car.
@@TyDarapiza also a great name! I feel like Strymon's gotta do it
They wonât do this. No one would buy the Timeline or Big Sky anymore.
Best demo of this pedal. As always, so well done Mitch

100%. The description of the capabilities of this with the pedals post-amp sold it to me.
Crunch with greenbacks sounds amazing. Honestly, all I want is that one tone in a pedal. Plexi to JCM crunch through a stack of greenbacks.
The pedal sounds great, but can we take a moment to admire how nice Mitchâs right hand is?
Strymon always deliver a high quality product
Got one ordered, now Strymon make a rack mount version with two sets of tone controls, dual xlr out, a stereo loop, and a a multi channel footswitch with a solo boost option.
Time keeps on slipping slipping slipping . . into the future . . . WOW ! Impressive device !
Great demo, clear and concise, SOLD !!!!
Hi Iâm Mitch Gallagher and I talk as fast as I can and you still be able to understand me.
WOW! Have I been needing this!
That Heritage is gorgeous. Makes a great pair with the Iridium
I never understood haters of digital stuff. I have a few tube amps, and a few modelers and love them all
Wow! I might NEED this!!!!
Sweetwater demos are fantastic
Hopefully someone on CZcams will compare this to some other modelers that fit on a pedalboard, like the HX Stomp.
That Heritage sounds great!
This sounds great đđœ

how about an Iridium for bass? Ampeg SVT, GK solid state amp, and maybe a Fender Bassman?
Iâve recorded bass with it and itâs my favorite bass tone Iâve been able to get direct. For whatever reason the Punch with the 4x12 sounded awesome to my ears. Thatâs really the thing that separates this from the other modelers. Itâs insanely easy to dial in the exact tone you want. I was adding guitar parts to something I had recorded before and within 5 minutes matched the tone of my tube amp that I micâd and recorded a lead part. I couldnât tell the difference. Itâs really great.
Gonna be interesting what Boss/Roland will do, gonna wait for 2020 NAMM and hopefully it has an XLR's OUT
Wow so Cool!!!!!
Sounds great, I'm about to buy one used, however I have to bitch about the fact that I don't know if the audio in this example is direct in, or if it's going through a speaker and mic'd up?
MIDI now has official adapters for 3.5mm when limited on space, so would have been cool to see MIDI on a 3.5mm jack as well as USB on the back.. although I'm glad it's mini USB and not shitty micro USB :)
What a trip!
how does it sound through ear monitors? Does it keep the quality? (provided the ear monitor is decent)
Ok, Mitch, you explained a fairly interesting audio routing with the pedals - Riverside to Iridium; Iridium to delay and verb. Did you just come off of the stereo outputs of the Iridium or did you use some other secret sauce? Iâve heard demos with the pedals all in front of the iridium and thought it sounded amazing. Nice demo and thanks!
Game over for the SansAmp GT-2!
Yep. Have mine since '99. never get rid of it...
But Tech 21 needs to get with the times. Their tech is dated.
If I take stereo output from reverb or delay pedal ,how I will place those stereo outputs for IRIDIUMâs input ?
Great job Strymon in giving us more options to choose from, would like to try one, but just got a REVV d20 that is a killer amp with build in two notes, would be interesting to compare the 2 going into a DAW
There are many IR products on the market, but I think DYNAX IR has the best sound. As stated in their product description, DYNAX IR is really fast. When using IRs, the pick attack is sometimes delayed, and it is difficult to add picking nuances, but their IR prevents all of that. It's revolutionary!
âStrymonâ say no more!!!!
(I already want one!!!)
Is it possible to turn off the Amp side and use my HX stomp as the preamp/effects and use the iridium for the Cab IR? I need to free some DSP on the stomp
Hey, Lucas. Thanks very much for your question! Yes, you can turn off either the Amp or the Cab inside the Iridium. Check this link:

They sure worked hard to cover up the Heritage logo on that beautiful guitar...
Mitch where did you get that Jacket? I want that Jacket.
Hold onto all of your current gear...10 years from now every new player will want that original tone, and as we all know they'll pay out the nose for it.
Unfortunately it's not how it goes. If it was the 70s now, I understand after 20 to 30 years those pedals to be cherished, but with the progressing technology, our equipment will sound somewhat like lo fi after 10 more years.
Strymon makes great stuff, no doubt. At that price, though, you get 3 amp models, but you could buy an HX Stomp for a little more and get a ton more options.
That was my thought, as well. It would be nice, though, to see if the amp/cab sims are better than the Stomp. That may justify it.
@@culturetrash3191 My Hx is great, With loaded IRs Ive bought and a decent ALTO 10 inch Active speaker I'm blown away by the tones. Cant Imagine "better"- Ive had fender tube amps, mesas etc. If anything this strymon would be something Id buy for a backup.
Yeah, but we need something for us simple, one tone guitarists, who don't want to scroll through endless menus or mess with hundreds of different parameters. Iridium seems to be more plug-and-play style option.
Also going direct I suppose youd need a trs/xlr?
Mitch knows his shit.
PLs, do some comparison with the real Vox/Fender and sm57 (for example) !!!!
Hey sweetwater, can you explain why Strymon didn't add an effects loop on this amp? wtff..
That's gotta be a fun job.
Would you put a studio compressor before or after this in a signal chain?
You can utilize it both ways. The before really controls the dynamics into the amp and the gain structure of the input. Do it after and it gives. what I call, a Mesa Mk series compression that beefs up the sound but still allows you to tailor the tone response by your dynamics and guitar volume.
Only thing that bums me out is no XLR output. If Iâm going to a PA I want to use XLR. Itâs not a big deal using a DI box, itâs just one more thing.
If you have a "Rockboard" pedal board with one of those modules they will give you an all-in-one solution! XLR out, even stereo if you want that
TheCleansingx I didnât know that thank you!!
sm19 just get an adapter.
www.amazon.com/dp/B0002GZLX8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-rsSDb1T1KDBQ
Agreed! Very short sighted - Iâd love to know the rationale for that omission...
@@TheCleansingx I may have misinterpreted what you're saying, but the modules for the Rockboard pedal boards are only pass-through. At least the one I have with a number of 1/4" and one XLR. He would still need something to convert the 1/4 from the Strymon to XLR.
Thanks very much, Mitch! Can i use this with my Boss RC-600? Rock on
Hi, Nirodha. Yes, those can be used together. The Iridium is essentially taking the place of an amp so I would keep that as the last thing in your signal chain, with the looper wherever you would normally keep it in your pedal order before that.
Thanks for your interest!

@@sweetwater Thank you very much!
Am I going crazy or this sounds better than Kemper?
Wasn't interested until I saw it has midi, looks like a simple setup without having to get overloaded with 1200 amp models and 3000 cabs....etc.... more like a tube amp setup, some knobs switches and a few minutes to dial in a tone , if it reviews to run well with a FX8 , which I think it would, I will get one
Strymon is really hitting the ball. Somehow they have embraced digital and gotten analog with it.
To be fair Chase Bliss Audio has done that for years
@@Honking_Goose I've seen Hainbach say interesting words about Chase Bliss. I need to see more of them to editorialize. I'll investigate.
@@Honking_Goose Their motto is âDigital brain, analog heartâ. Basically, analog signal path thatâs digitally controlled. I need to check out more of their stuff.
Does the Iridium have to be set at the end of my pedalboard signal chain when using my effects pedals in order to take advantage of the Cab sim IR's?
Thanks for your question, Jason. Here's my take: It depends⊠If you want to set up the chain like an amp without an effects loop, then yes, Iridium is last. If you want to set up the chain as if you are in a studio, then place your time domain effects after the Iridium. Technically you can place anything after it, since in order to connect to a mic pre on your interface or mixer, you'll likely use a direct box. If you connect to a Hi-Z input on the interface/mixer, then your results may vary. You can't hurt anything by trying both methods, so experiment. If I didn't answer you completely or correctly, please contact me direct.

@@sweetwater Huge thanks and great demo!
why there is no di output like others?
Very easy to know all the big , new releases strymon pedals ....like to do listening, first.....
I love and own a Torpedo Cab M but where they failed is not having stereo outputs. I Strymon has stereo outputs that's big plus
So to use a delay or reverb pedal, you plug your guitar to the Iridium input jack and the Iridium output into the input of your pedals and plug the output from your pedals into a direct box and send it to FOH or whatever other audio source youâre using, is this correct?
Hi, sonny6string822. Yes, that would be a great way to do that setup. If youâre just running clean amp emulations on the Iridium, the delay/reverb pedals could also go in front of the Iridium. Really just personal preference at that point.
Thanks for your interest!

I want one but in the UK they are sold out everywhere
Your deluxe doesnt have a mid control? Mine does.
It seems Mitch likes this pedal. If not, he must be a true professional presenter.
Mitch is AMAZING - his ability to go deep but not sound like a geek is unmatched in the entire industry. That is to say, yes, he's a truly professional presenter!
Mitch looking really healthy!
How would this sound through a focusrite into studio monitors?
blah Like the pedal...
If you had a great Loop pedal bike the boss es8 you could have this the Mobius the timeline in the blue sky and you would never need anything else
I want the ability to: get my 65 Blackface Fender Princeton "Clean" - through the P.A. (without having to carry my Amp to Gigs) - any Input ?
Hi, Michael. For what you're describing, the Iridium is a great choice. It has some great Fender style tones in there and I see a lot of people using it so that they don't have to bring an amp to a gig. For running into a PA, you will likely need to pair that with a DI box.
Thanks for your interest!

Wow pedal kills the amp Star
So this one goes straight to your cab like a small amp head, right?
Thanks for contacting us, Lester. Hope you're safe and well. Iridium is designed to connect to a mixing console or full range (PA style) powered speaker, not to a guitar amp or cabinet. Mitch Gallagher is the best gear demonstrator in the world~ :)

To all the guys I see using an entire Kemper only as a clean pedal platform, in addition to a huge pedal board of boutique pedals (smh đ), THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED INSTEAD, NOT A KEMPER; SAVE YOUR MONEY.
Anywho, holy cow this thing is impressive. A friend of mine borrowed and used one for a show we played, since this was already hooked up to the house, and it sounded really good, but I didnât know all these other controls and extra goodies were on board. This thing would be a dream for a pedal focused rig.
So I can plug this straight into my cab? How loud does it get? how many watts?
It won't power a cab. It plugs directly into an audio interface, headphones or a PA system. It's emulating an entire recorded guitar tone signal chain of Amp -> Speaker Cab -> Microphone
@@oisinmcphillips2090 Got it Thanks!!!
Oisin McPhillips if I still need to use my amp so you recommend to connect this on the effects loops?
Strymon- please make a deluxe version with 2 sets of amp switches and the ability to send each amp to its respected output separately through XLR outputs. Many players (myself included) use wet/dry rigs and this would allow you to send an Amp sim (say Fender) out on one channel, and another type (Vox or Marshall) out on the other.
Could always buy two and some sort of A/B box right?
Jim's Guitar Garage buy an hx stomp!
Charles Hale not for $800, Iâll stick with my current setup with 2 Joyoâs and a digitech CabDryVR.
Isaac Hawkins Iâve got a HeadRush pedalboard already. But if they made a deluxe version Iâd use it on my analog board.
Jim's Guitar Garage I get that, but the hx STOMP basically is a deluxe version of this. Plus some! I use my on my analog board for the amp sims and irs only, using two amps as you described
Strymon should put out an amp like The Katana but of course it would be more high end amp
3:41 demo starts
Will this go direct to the effects loop if I still need to use an amp?
Hi, Josh. You could run this into an effects loop, but just remember that you would be running a cab IR into another cabinet. That may not give you the best sound possible, but it is an option. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me anytime. Thanks for the interest!

Sweetwater TY! Iâve checked the online manual an option to disable/bypass the CAB Sim. Sounds like a good option to me!
ok I'm overwhelmed... how thick is the manual for this puppy!
Price?
Everything now days "feels natural" and "sounds like you are plugging into an amplifier".
Marketing words used in every pedal/multiFX unit ever made.But......this one sounds good.
Sounds groovy
But can it make a Tele twang, country style?
Is it better than Milkman The Amp?
If you want different amps and different cabs, this is better. If you want just one good tube preamp amp and one good cab, as well as a speaker out and DI out, then The Amp is better.
So when adding pedals thatâs all in the âfrontâ? No way to utilize delays and reverbs as if theyâre in an fx loop?
I personally can't even tell that he isn't playing through an amp. If you closed your eyes or tabbed away from the video I bet you wouldn't even guess he's playing through a pedal.
That was my first impression, too. I kept forgetting all the sound was coming from the pedal directly (even though that's the whole point of the demo).
Anything like this for bass guitar?
Some of the Darkglass pedals have a (single) built-in impulse response. Not quite the same, but in the neighborhood.
Checkout the Geddy Lee Sansamp
Iâm thinking the same thing. He said there are a lot more Amps to choose from, so I wonder if they threw some bass amp ims in there to cater to us bass players. If not Iâm sure a bass would still sound good running through it :).
@@grantwilliams5458 yeah...that's what I was figuring.
Grant Williams ... you can load different cabs, but you canât load different amps.
Nice device, but it would be nice to have an input for an external music player to jam with. Still a very useful pedal.
The iridium sounds really good, very warm and organic, with no digital nuances. But at ÂŁ399 UK it just seems a heck of a lot of money for something that emulates just 3 amps, 9 cabs, 3 room reverbs and one patch save. I appreciate it's going for top quality tone, response & playing dynamics, but even so. With the new Pod Go providing full mfx capability with Helix quality modelling & IR importing, for the same price of ÂŁ399 will the Iridium really be noticeably better? I think this is a pedal for tube purists/pro players that are very, very, VERY particular about their tone and need something to 'replace' their amps/cabs with something very light, compact and flexible to fit on their conventional pedal boards with good routing options and very natural sounding room reverb. This is a very different market to those wanting fuller MFX options, so it's not in competition with Helix, Pod Go, etc. At this price point, it's most definitely not for me personally, and as an amateur gigging player my next purchase will almost certainly be Pod Go for my gigging needs (once it finally gets to the UK!). But I can definitely see where Strymon are coming from and the Iridium is already highly respected for what it does.
I'd say this takes less fiddling around I guess đ€·ââïž
