  • ✋🏻Myth 1: The v4g1na is on the outside.
While v4g1na has emerged as the term of choice for women's genitalia, vulva is actually the correct term for all of the external organs, including the labia majora and minora, the all-important clitoris, the external openings of the urethra (a.k.a, the hole you pee from).
🙋🏼‍♀️The v4g1na is the internal muscular canal that connects the uterus to the vulva. It's the part that is used for penetration, and its also the exit canal for babies during birth!
    Knowing the difference is important:
Using the correct terms helps us to explain and express ourselves to our partners or healthcare providers.
    ✋🏻Myth 2: Vaginas shouldn’t smell🤔
Even though our vaginas are self-cleaning wonders, they’re not designed to smell like a bed of roses. A faint tangy scent or a bit of sweat is totally fine and healthy!
🦠A well-balanced vagina has a pH of 3.8 to 4.5, regulated by tiny bacteria called lactobacilli. The balance of bacteria and yeast can change at times, which can shift the odours.
Sometimes vaginal odour can smell like beer or bread, which contain the same helpful bacteria. It may smell slightly sweet if you’ve eaten lots of citrus fruits, or slightly metallic at the beginning or end of your menstrual cycle.
However, if the smell has significantly changed it can be a sign of an infection. A tell-tale sign is a 🐟fishy odour, usually caused by bacterial vaginosis. If you are worried about the smell, see your doctor and get checked out!
    ✋🏻Myth 3: Having a lot of s3x will give you a looser vagina 😵
This myth often comes from teenage circles, designed to bully or embarrass people but there’s no truth.
Number of partners makes no permanent difference! During arousal, the muscles of the v4g1na relax, and this enables penetrative s4x. After, the v4g1na returns to its usual shape and tension.
The hymen is a thin membrane around the vagina. Having penetrative s4x the first time can stretch the hymen slightly.
Only two things affect your v4g1na's elasticity: age and childbirth. Frequent sex - or lack thereof - won't cause your it to lose any stretch.
