The twins absolutely STOLE this movie. I loved all of the characters, but man, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is incredible and it's impossible not to love Brian Tyree Henry. And obviously Brad Pitt... Whole cast killed it. Loved seeing Bad Bunny as well, his bad guy face was hilarious.
Not gonna lie, (Spoiler) Channing Tatum, more like Cameo Tatum now, took the words out of my mouth when Aaron Taylor-Johnson was walking “man, he’s got a great walk”
I hated that running gag from Lemon.
I was worried about Bad Bunny (since, honestly, I hate his type of music) but it was actually surprising. He was used well.
Lemon and tangerine my favourite movie characters this year
Lies! All lies! The water bottle stole the show! 🎉🎉
Fiji water getting a full story arc in a span of about a minute and change in the movie was awesome 😂😂 also seeing a little bit of Kraven the Hunter from Aaron Taylor-Johnson when he jumped back ok the bullet train lol.
Fuji water blew my mind. That camera angles. Movement.
Best Fuji water commercial I've ever seen 👏 🙌 😍 👌🏼
I feel like people aren’t giving the script of this film enough credit. Every joke landed and I loved the structure and introductions to each of the assassins. I also thought the film had a great message regarding someone’s fate and how they can impact it. And THAT cameo made my theatre burst into applause!
Hell which cameo?
Is this the sex thing?
It was intense and unpredictable, a bit like knowing you're in a dream you can't wake from. 10/10 for brilliance and not following normal Hollywood film structures
@@anthonyhill4639 The carver one. It was an amazing reveal followed up by the “I Need A Hero” cover and fight scene.
@@anthonyhill4639 don't tell anyone it was CHRIS HEMSWORTH
The irony is Quentin Tarantino solidify his style by watching a lots of movies. Doing homage to others director is a big part of his filmmaking, yet now everytime critics see someone do something remotely resemble his style, they automaticly decide that's a bad thing. If you ask me, I believe Tarantino would absolutely be delighted if someone do homage to him.
Tarantino would not write this garbage
@@pa1nted I was going to see this. Should I avoid it?
@@jewulo can't speak to your tastes of course, obviously some people including Chris enjoyed it. I was bored out of my mind and the 2 friends I went with all agreed - terrible writing / uninteresting plot+characters / definitely not the best action this side of 2022
@@jewulo Just got out of the theater. Absolutely recommend it, just a good time. Reminded me of Kill Bill if anything.
@@jewulo no absolutely not, it's a stoner action movie. You'll get some laughs out of it.
this is def a movie the critics got wrong. its an absolute blast, if this was done by tarantino it would be hailed as a masterpiece by critics. go watch this movie, lets show some support for really fun action movies with heart and style. had a great time, an easy 9/10.
I don't care about Harvey Weinstein's lap cat. haha. Will go watch Bullet Train for sure.
tarantino wouldn't make this lmao
@@allasian452 You give him to much credit I lovev most of his movies but hard eight was way to long and slow.
9/10? Jesus what would you give to movies like Inglourious Basterds or Terminator 2 then for example?
Not a 9/10, but a fun time. Above average. Solid 6/10.
personally this was one of the best movie theater experiences this year and one of my favorite movies this year!! Bullet Train was pure fun that felt like a John Wick/Deadpool film!! Loved this movie!!
David was the director of Deadpool 2 and first JW (co-director without credit).
@@chuc.dxq3809 I was hoping they would use Tyler Bates again for the score and music played. He did the music for Deadpool, JW and Guardians of the Galaxy. Haven’t seen this new film yet, is the music solid?
Yes best comparison

I can't decide between this and Maverick for my all-time favorite theater experiences.
I still don’t understand how there’s people who say this movie is bad…
This just hits. The comedy is solid. The action is solid. The plot is actually very interesting.
Who said this movie was bad ? Haven’t heard a single bad thing about it .

well your wrong about all 3 of those, you think this movie had good comedy? Heres the comedy for you "omg that's Channing Tatum, OMG THAT'S Ryan Reynolds...yeah great comedy writing. The action was run of the mil, lazy at times actually, the plot was annoying and not worth it in the end. If you think this movie is great you're probably someone who jumps on trends or fads easily. If I was watching at home i know for a fact I'd have paused and rewinded it several times drifting my attention away. It's not Kill Bill although it's trying to be.

Terrible movie for people with a serious JAPANESE fetish (mostly white nerds) Get another country to obsess over. How about....... Nigeria?
I really love how male actors like John Cena and channing Tatum really lean into the pretty boi gay jokes, it's refreshing comedy imo.
This movie has just such a fantastic sense of style. Unlike Thor 4, which had some…. Style, in bullet train I actually want to look at the screen because of the beautiful visuals, effects, and as I said, style. It’s one setting but it feels like 100, it’s just so refreshing.
Yeah the overall aesthetic was on point. But Japan tends to have that effect lol.
Style of every 90's crime film post Pulp fiction
When I first saw the trailer for this movie I was like "yep, Chris Stuckman is going to love that one"
I find this hilarious because I'm not sure if it's an insult or not lmao

I just need more fun Brad pitt movies. Most of his movies and perfomances are excellent and legendary but they are so serious, sad or depressing. Like The curious case of Benjamin Button, 12 years slave, Seven, 12 monkeys, Fury & Ad astra. We need more fun movies from his career like the Oceans trilogy, Burn after reading, Snatch, The lost city, Mr & Mrs smith and this new Bullet train. This movie is entertaining, enjoyable & fun and I absolutely love that, I want more fun flicks from him
Honestly he’s done a good job of balancing it out/ doing what interests him. But I agree - fun brad Pitt definitely has a mood/swagger to it.

The Fiji water bottle backstory was Soo funny and touching!! 😍
When Aaron Taylor Johnson got back on the train busting the window with brass knuckles it was Soo badass!!! And also White Death rolling the revolver barrel on his arm for Russian roulette was Soo cool!!!! They Japanese environments were very beautiful towards the end!!!
I loved this movie! Lemon and Tangerine absolutely stole the show for me, I loved their characters
I think they are rambling assholes and I hate them and the movie. Funny how different opinions can be
The timing with this was crazy. I literally just came home from the theater after watching this movie. I really liked it, and yeah, I never really thought the movie was a Tarantino knock-off, it did more resemble something Guy Ritchie would do.
Hongkong director John Woo did many gangster shootout movies in the 80s . The Japanese gangster reminds me of the style. Maybe the 80s rock band jokes was inspired by it 😁
@@worldcitizeng6507 I thought it was closer to Jackie Chan's works, with sprinkles of John Woo. Jackie Chan + Guy Ritchie in its style.

This was a really fun time at the movies and sometimes that's all you need. Cast was stellar, action was fun and there was a Japanese cover of Holding Out for a Hero. What more could, you want
Also a Japanese cover of Stayin Alive in the beginning
The need a hero cover fight scene brought a tear to my eye. I watched the second half with CCs on and the creative decision to not even have CCs for the cover meant they trusted the audience to know it immediately from tone and pace alone. That to me is am executive creative decision that most directors won't ever try and make. They took chances in this movie and they all paid off. This was easily a 10/10. Anyone overly critical of this doesn't understand the purpose of the movie existing anyway. This is what escapism should look like. Being able to escape in it with others even when it's not on. The cameos are world tier. I wasn't ready for sex stuff, carver, hunter or the conductor lol I wasn't even read for the white devil, which is hilarious play on the Japanese euro culture lmao and the name frequently given to colonizers. It is just a great film.
I love how you focus on the positive aspects of film now. I feel like there is so much negativity and cynicism surrounding film criticism, especially on CZcams. And a lot of times it’s from people who have never attempted to actually make a movie. It’s refreshing to see someone who addresses how absurdly difficult it is to actually make a movie, and focus on the filmmakers successes rather than short comings.
But like really what we’re the short coming of this film? Like it’s brilliant in all aspects
Absolutely laughed my ass off in the theater with my dad watching this. Extremely good fun. Highly recommended
I'm so excited to see this movie and I've heard so many critics bashing it. It's almost like bad reviews sell more clicks than good ones. Keep it up, I want to see more original movies that take chances ☺️
I must say this movie was the first R Rated (FSK 16 for my fellow german viewers) movie I've watched in cinema and it was a total blast, at least 95% of the jokes landed and had brought me to laugh. I'd love to watch this again.

This film was just pure fun. One of my favorites of the year
I read the novel and this movie is a very creative adaptation of it. Well done!! The movie takes a lot of liberty in changing some of the plots but predominantly sticks to the novel. Fantastic casting and just so fun to watch in the theater!! 😀
I agree. The book was rather slow in places. The movie has just the right energy and pacing that this story needed.
Would you say that the movie accurately captured the soul of the novel?
@@BulletSponge178 Tonally, the movie is much more humorous and energized. If they made the movie exactly as written in the novel I think the audience will feel it’s too slow and boring. Creative liberty they took in changing some of the plots was wise. It made the movie more digestible and cinematic 👍👍👍
I friggen loved this movie! It’s tarentino meets guy Ritchie meets smoking aces!!! It’s probably my favorite movie of the year! I’m going to see it a second time this week!!
I *LOVED* this film, such an easy watch. Brad Pitt continues his streak as possibly the most lowkey secretly hilarious actor ever
This was an absolute bonkers of a movie and I loved every minute of it. 😁
Chris please NEVER STOP doing these videos, please... you are part of my daily things to do.
Couldn’t agree with u more. 😎
Bullet Train was such a good, CRAZY movie!! Felt unique as well!! The character backstories and plotlines were hilariously shown!! The action was Extremely cool!!! Brad Pitt, Aaron Taylor Johnson, tangerine, the girl, Hiroyuki Sanada and White Death were great!!! Loved the appearances by other actors as well!!
I went with a group of people and we were thoroughly entertained! We were more engaged with this movie than the last couple of Marvel movies. I can't understand why so many critics are sh*tting on this movie! It was great!
I have always kind of suspected Chris was the only critic I could truly trust...now I am sure of it!😊
It really has its own sense of silliness. Felt to me like some weird mix of Smokin' Aces & Clue.
Lemon & Tangerine deserve a spin-off.
I was reading the book the week of the release and I was determined to finish it before seeing the movie and it sucked that I didn’t finish it, but from what I did read, I absolutely LOVED seeing all the characters and scenes come to life especially with the relationship and banter that Lemon and Tangerine had.
I saw 3 plot holes , the 3rd was minor. Did you spotted it too?🙂
Had soo much fun watching this movie. Funny, great action sequences, banger soundtrack and a really good and colorful cinematography. A must see!!
My friend and I watched the trailer and knew we had to watch this. From beginning to end it was a fun ride. The twins for sure stole every scene they were in. But all the characters and the banter were great. Wonder if they’ll ever touch base on a certain cameo we saw 🤔
SIGNS WAS SUCH A HUGE part of my life too. It was a time in my life where I had left school, didn't work yet, friends were low, I went to the cinema by myself a few times a week and Signs punched me right I the feels. Such an amazing film. I hope this comes back to cinemas one day or even a smart sequel, but only if it's well written.
Cannot wait for your film tour for it.
Legend. Thanks Chris.
P.S. ive been watchi gyou for about 6 years now ...is there any chance we can get a quick video looking g at all your blurays and vhs on shelf behind you? I can't see them all, but I can name 70% just from the designed onthe VHS Spines. That's how great the 80's 90's and 00's were for memorable films and Box Art!!!
Caught Bullet Train yesterday, and loved it! It's witty, high-octane, top-notch entertainment. All the characters have their distinct roles, nothing is wasted, and Brad Pitt SLAYS! Some great blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameos, especially Channing Tatum, who had me in stitches! 'Is this a Sex Thing?' 'He has SUCH a great walk...' This was an absolute wealth of hilarious and original dialogue, so refreshing right now when a lot of 'blockbusters' are delivering very poor scripts.
Entertaining on every level. See it twice at least.
Loved this movie. This is one of those movies I could easily have done with another hour with, enjoyed it that much. The humor was great, the action, everything.
This movie was an absolute blast! Every character was great especially the twins!
To me, this film is what "Bad Times at the El Royale" should have been. I was surprised at how invested I was in the story and the mystery behind why these characters were all converging to the same place. "El Royale" had some solid characters, but lacked that sense of mystery or investment in the story surrounding said characters.
This was a very enjoyable film. Definitely worth seeing again.
EDIT: To clarify, my comparison of these two films centers around their narratives and the tension (or lack thereof) surrounding the mystery of the films' singular location. Tonally, I realize that they're meant to be quite different, which is fine.
Also, was El Royale even trying to be as fun as this movie was?
El Royale was WAY better than this 😂
@@BulletSponge178 No, I don't think it was. But El Royale pitched itself (at least from the marketing) as a mystery thriller of sorts, with the El Royale serving as the source of the mystery. But as the film goes on, there's no real mystery, no sense of tension behind why all these characters have converged on this one location. My comparison of the two films is more about the mystery (or lack thereof) in the narrative, and less about tone.
Thanks for posting this Chris. I went and saw the movie tonight as a result and I had a ton of fun from beginning to end. Love what you have been doing with this channel. Keep up the awesome work and best of luck with your movie!!
I like the way the movie unfolded and how the mystery of the final boss loomed over the entirety of the film. There were so many mysteries and storylines unfolding at once the possibility of one of those spinning plates falling and destroying everything just adds to the suspense. The movie ties every end together nicely and the pacing is excellent. There were many moments when I felt myself leaning forward in my seat. Also the gore and the fight choreography was amazing. My only gripe is how the movie ends the final crash seamed to far fetch for me to suspend disbelief. I’m so glad I went to see this in theaters.
I also want to say that I watched full metal jacket and when you look at full metal jacket and clockwork Orange, they feel like part one and part two, so they’re examples of stories that don’t feel linear. I do think that a lot of people feel like pulp fiction was very successful in the nonlinear storytelling, possibly the best film that’s ever been nonlinear. But you’re definitely right that it is a style of storytelling, but you can’t just say it’s a Tarantino knock off whenever you do it. It would just be like saying that every single time somebody makes a colorful science-fiction movie with a lot of great special facts, it’s a Stanley Kubrick 2001 rip off
Awesome review as always Chris and ON POINT. Watched this last night (was gutted that I wasn't able to catch the theatre run which happened just as I went on holidays) and agree 100%. Was a bit slow as it introduced the various streams but damn nothing about Bullet Train feels like Tarantino and it wasn't just THE BRAD PITT show either. Twins were comedy GOLD. It's hysterically funny and overall a really really really great flick. Looks like it was a fun experience for the actors as well. Keep at it!
Everyone who loved this movie I think should see Guy Ritchi's films 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', 'Snatch', and 'The Gentlemen'. This movie to me felt very similar, and I absolutely loved it.
Me and mom were laughing so much during this movie. This was really really good movie
I watched his review today and went to watch it in the evening. Absolutely loved it. Such a perfect blend of action and comedy. Bullet Train is definitely going to be a cult classic.
@Chris Stuckmann
I am SOOOOO HAPPY you finally watched this movie and put your take on it.
I don't always agree with your picks
But I appreciate and like how you give a lot of backstory, and really dive into why the movie was good or bad.
Honestly you and Jeremy are 2 reviewers I usually always watch, and when you DIDN'T have a review for this.. I was kinda shocked and a little sad
Glad you saw and loved it.
I agree... This movie is fucking awesome
I saw it twice opening weekend
The movies I was thinking of when watching this, was a cross between Smokin' Aces and Kill Bill. It had the kind of flavor/tone of the over the top revenge story of Kill Bill to me, especially all the focus on Japanese cultural elements. But then the absolutely insanely colorful characters from Smokin' Aces. Also the fact that they were all assassins on a job, in an isolated location. It did feel like Guy Ritchie, mostly from the quick banter of the writing. Not making that comparison as a criticism though, I fucking loved the film. It was super fun, had me emotional at a few scenes with the Twins, all the characters were really damn good and engaging while they were on screen. It's a movie that knows what it wants to be, and has a LOT of fun being that thing.
Just saw this … Chris, you are so on the money about the “critics” try to minimize, marginalize, or just attack non-linear story telling! The whole family, which includes daughters and son enjoyed this. Love David’s films! Cheers!!
It's one of those films in which not every joke works, but there are so many jokes that there's always something landing. Great physical comedy, good story and some really strong performances. I've not been as pleasantly surprised in a cinema for a while. I had no expectations going in and I thought it was great.
Great review Chris.Yours is the ONLY review I take notice of.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Been watching your vids forever. Keep it up, man
Funny enough, the similarities between this movie and Ritchie/Tarantino are precisely the reason why I was looking forward to this movie. If anything, it's a massive positive for me. 😄
Absolutely loved this movie and loved all the characters and the story line but the best had to be the twins
I love how in Hollywood, when they cast a foreign actor: "So for this movie we need a Japanese actor to play an assas..." "ok. call Hiroyuki Sanada!".
But the movie looks great, I love all the actors and I will definitely go see it
I saw this on Saturday and I couldn’t wait to see you review it! I’m a huge fan of Hiroyuki Sanada, so I knew I was seeing this as soon as I watched the trailer. Ahhhh this movie is so much fun! I need to see this again!
This movie is just a crazy fun ride. I couldn't care less if the plot has some goofy moments. Just super fun to watch visually & thanks to the fantastic acting
Bullet Train is honestly my favorite movie of the year. I had an amazing time watching this film, Brad and the rest of the cast were brilliant. Aaron and Brian were the MVPs of the movie for me and would love to see them get a spin-off prequel.
What gets me is how this film was so perfect at set-up and pay-off. You were able to keep track of every little development and it all came to fruition by the end.
This movie has so much going on, its crazy. Wit, humour, color, action, stunts, epicness and heartbreaking scenes all at once. Its rare to see such a movie working on all levels so well these days.
I loved the movie but not right away. As it was heading into the 2nd act I really started to enjoy it for it was then I was able to piece things together.
Wow another Chris Stuckmann video , this is amazing , and yeah Bullet Train , quite a big time crazy action movie , great star studded cast
This was like a Tarantino movie. Pretty much Kill Bill and The Hateful Eight on a train. That doesn't mean he ripped off Tarantino, however the style overall was very Tarantinoesque, that doesn't make the movie any worse. In fact it's awesome.
I really liked this movie. Don’t understand why the box office and critics reviews has been subpar.
dude one of the best movies ive seen in a while. i didn't expect a lot but i couldn't stop laughing and it was so visually amazing.
This movie was a breath of fresh air. Very stylish and full of fun characters I can really care for. So many action movies don't have good action and characters and it had both! I have a few problems but overall I had a really fun time watching it.
THAT cameo made my entire theatre clap lol
@Chris Stuckmann- totally agree with the review! Also, really inspired to watch/ buy the Steelbook is that I'm a big video gamer and sadly there hasn't been anything quite like, No More Heroes. This is a bit different in terms of story, but has those incredible FIGHT elements at play
I love this movie! I want to see Bullet train for a second time!
I came into this movie expecting a decent action comedy, I was pleasantly surprised. For what it is, it did everything almost flawlessly. A high pace, entertaining, funny, engaging action comedy w fantastic dialogue, likable characters and great action scenes. What else do you want from a movie like this?
Bullet Train, Everything Everywhere and Top Gun are easily my top favorites this year.
The sun design was on fuckin point! It feels like a polished Jackie Chan-Tarantino-Guy Richie homage.
How this movie is sitting at a low 50 percent on RT is baffling… loved this movie; its the type of movie that im so thankful still gets made. It just goes to reinforce the fact that Rotten Tomatoes is not reliable

David Lynch, The creator of "Twin Peaks", Jesus, what an unorthodox show!! After watching Twin Peaks in 2018 and then following it's 3rd season, I've become a fan of his works.
It does have a kill bill vibe to me.
In the same vein as Smoking Aces & Lucky Number Sleven it felt a tired. It wasn't refreshing back then either. This had at least more likability. Plus Brian Tyree Henry's AWFUL British accent (as one of the Twins) kept pulling me out of the movie.
Omg! I’m so baffled by how the critics don’t like this movie but the general public and other critics are appreciating it!
When some time ago Chris made a point of how we should support standalone movies, specifically by seeing them in cinemas, I was like, yeah, fair enough. This year I actually feel it myself and I try to catch as much as I can in theatres, however big or small the films are. Thank you, Chris, for sowing this seed in my head, and yeah, Bullet Train was a total blast and all those critics that point at some inconsistencies in script or what not, miss the point so much that it makes their opinions irrelevant.
This movie was a blast. Reminds of those Quinton Tarantino/Guy Richie films not directed by Quinton Tarantino or Guy Richie like Lucky Number Slevin, Smokin' Aces, or Free Fire. Those movies were awesome and so was this.
This film is fantastic, I don't care what anybody says. Everyone in front and behind the camera gave it their all, which made for an amazing, fun and exciting experience. To me, this is like Scott Pilgrim meets John Wick, and you really can't go wrong with those two.
This film deserves the love 🔥
