HOW TO PUT ON DARTH VADER COSTUME WITH @MadeByAP
The "How to Put On {insert costume here}" is a CZcams series I started a few years ago to show viewers how intricate some costumes are... I am bringing this series back, but with "more than just Star Wars" costumes (although I will absolutely still make more SW stuff too)
I've been wanting to film a How-To video for Lord Vader for quite some time. My good friend Anthony from Made By AP had one and was willing to go on camera with me - So I put up with being called Trixie (don't ask) and we shot it!
The description of MADE BY AP's CZcams Channel is:
"I’m a DIY kinda guy. From woodworking to models. Cosplay to robotics. I know a little bit about a lot of things... and that makes me dangerous! Check out my adventures and subscribe today!"

I love these suit up videos
Thanks! I really enjoy making them !
I love being a ROTS Vader, don’t have to worry about right and left shin guards lol.
I love The ROTS suit too. I hope we see it in the Kenobi series! It deserves more screen time.
@@strikerfrost7222 agreed.
@@strikerfrost7222 i also agree
Darth Vader has a different appearance in the movies or series he appears in.
Episode 3: Darth Vader’s chest box has a green button, and the bottom red button is on his right hand side. He has a tall neck piece of his mask. His belt boxes are spaced out from each other. Darth Vader had a different lightsaber but it wasn’t seen. He has a big airlock. He has a cape chain, and his shoulder armor is gray. His lens are also black.
Clone Wars: Darth Vader’s chest box has a 1 white button and 3 gray buttons on the bottom of his chest box. His robe is on top of his chest armor, and his shoulder armor has black lines. He doesn’t have a cape chain. He has a different lightsaber. He has a small airlock on his helmet. His lens are red and his eyes are visible. He also has a different glove design, and his belt buttons are close together.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Darth Vader’s cloak is now under his chest armor. He has a cape chain, and his lens are black. He has a small neck piece. His shoulder armor is black, and he has a big air lock.
Star Wars Rebels: Darth Vader has red eyes. He has a blue button with his gray buttons, and white buttons. His robe is on top of his chest armor, he doesn’t have a cape chain. He now has gray shoulder armor with black lines. His 4 green belt buttons are big, and has two things on both sides of his green button of his chest box.
Rogue One: Darth Vader’s air lock is small. His robe is now under his chest armor. He has small green belt buttons. His chest box now has straps, and he has a cape chain, but his cape chain is hidden. He doesn’t have those two things next to his green button, and he now has gray buttons and one white button.
Episode 4: Darth Vader’s robe is over his chest armor, and he has a visible cape chain.
Episode 5: Darth Vader’s robe is now under his chest armor, and he has black shoulder armor. He has white buttons on his chest box and a red button on his left hand side. He has a big air lock. He has big green belt buttons. He has markings next to his chest box buttons. He has a blue button replacing the green button. He now has a new glove design. His lens are now black. He has no cape chain. He has two black buttons on the top of his chest box, and two white buttons on the bottom of his chest box.
Episode 6: Darth Vader’s green belt buttons are now small, and he has a cape chain.
That is all.
Congrats on snagging the actual Darth Vader as a handle!
6:07 I feel so helpless sometimes after I put on my “bucket”. Good thing people move out of Vader’s way when he’s walking!
I cannot deny that the moment that a) you should be really tall to portray Vader convincingly and b) putting on the costume and goofing around is all good fun - but I find it fascinating that the moment that Vader's helmet goes on, all of this is gone and he becomes very serious. Great video!
That's totally badass, I think the ROTJ Vader is the best one
Nice Darth Vader😍❤🔥 Costume 🙂
Best suit I've seen so far. Impressive, most impressive 👏
as an artist that makes darth vader beats I love this
It is awesome
And you're awesome for saying that!
stay posting it's killer! like POW🔥
This was helpful. I have an approved ANH Vader and ROTS Vader, and I can use some of your techniques to ease my suit up and voice system setup. Much appreciated. You look great.
I Would Love That Suit.
This came out great! Okay, now I need to make another costume!
And I’ll be there to film it!!
Nice. It's crazy how many different parts the costume includes. The one used on this video seems to be a really good replica of the Return of Jedi version, with one difference: the eye lenses are dark red, like in A New Hope, but they are black in RotJ.
The most crucial point about looking like Vader, though, is that the suit's wearer has to be tall. If a shortish person wears a Vader suit, no matter how well made, the end result looks goofy because it then seems like Vader has too big a head in relation to his body. Anthony here fortunately seems to be just barely tall enough to cosplay Vader convincingly. Well done, gentlemen.
when she wants to role play
Hi where to find that cape?
Hermoso...
I would be so scared of holding a helmet by the dome and the mask falling out 😨
Why does the belt not have the clip for the lightsaber hilt?
Stone armor?
Why don't you put your speaker directly on your back
Great suit. Question tho, seemed like you were struggling to see him hand you the lightsaber.....how far are your eyes away from the lenses inside? My first liner setup in my Porty was the same way......moved my eyes from 2.5” from lenses to 1” and made a huge difference in vision. Just curious :)
That was purely for comedic effect after he called me Trixie
@@JamesHannonAuthor ahhhhh haha, gotcha 👍
I dress up as Luke Skywalker from return of the Jedi
interesting
Where did you get the chest box and shoulder armour from?
I bought them as kits off of EBay. They were Portumac.
Where can I buy this? I tried the link that you put on your description buy there no buying options.
It was sourced from lots of different people. You’re best bet is to join the 501st Sith Lord Detachment and
Yeah, you have to put it together piece by piece. It can take a long time...18 months or more. Expect to pay about $3500 for a decent Vader, or more ($5000 is not unreasonable). It's worth it when you visit sick kids in the hospital and they feel the excitement of the Star Wars universe.
How Much Does That Cost?
3:37 Vampire Vader is a Vampire Cape
not everyone is "perfect" enough for the 501st.
It’s not really about being “perfect”. It’s about doing Vader justice. Vader is an iconic figure that almost everyone recognizes and should do it proud and authentic. Many 501st Vaders are perfectly fine with those who enjoy wearing a Rubies at a comic con or whatever, to each their own :)
Undersuit of what ? 🤔
Lol the voice sounds creepy , It seems light vision is very poor with the mask...cant grab the light saber ....
U should have chosen a hotter day to do this. Would've been a lot more entertaining. At least 95 degrees.
