DIY Darth Vader Suit + Cool Light Saber Fight! (Star Wars fan film style)

- First of all: wait till the end, there is intense light saber fight between my son and me! I used it to test the outfit and it has passed the test!
When I created this suit my main consideration was to keep it simple and cheap, something that can be prepared by anyone! So under the armor I simple wear black ski pants, black jacket and black boots.

Dude this is great. The tutorial is more of a loose guide, which is exactly what I was looking for. The action scene at the end though... Astounding. I kept expecting it to end or be cheesy, but it wasn’t. It kept going on and on, adding killer dialogue and great choreography. Fantastic job!

Their lightsaber duels and cgi were better than all of the sequels, shows that the fans can do a 100% better job than Disney 🔥

It's actually pretty comfortable, because I wear normal clothes under it, and not too warm, of course if it's a hot day or during a fight scene you start sweting....:)

Incredible costume! Although I do have a few questions. What was the fabric you used for the cape and inner robe? What boxes would be perfect for the belt?
I just walked in a Fabric Store close to me and I choose a fabric which seemed to be adequate, I was lucky because the cape is soft, flexible and it won't wrinkle! The inner robe material is from a thrift store, more rigid but does the job. I prefer the stronger type box , with shiny surface,
Very well done. Great costume, the build part of the video moved too fast . But the costumes came out awesome. You are a good dad, your kid looked like he was having fun.

Hi! Thank you very much for this video. There is a step I don’t understand: at 1"32 when you cut the stripes out: how do maintain the « tongue shape » under the stripe? Shouldn’t it go back into place when pasting it on the plate? I don’t know if what I say makes sense to you. Sorry my English isn’t great...
Hei, don't worry english isn't my mother tongue either...If you watch the pic at 1:32, you see that I cut from the thickness of the tongue piece diagonally, that's why the round end of it will be deeper....I hope you understand what I'm saying... Good luck with the project!

Hi, finally a question nobody asked before🙂 because this is a super economic costume, I wear my black pants (shiny, like ski pamts) and a black jacket, so they didn't cost me .🙂

They are selling different kind of pvc sheets, or you can still use EVA foam if you can't find anything else...

The shoulder armor is Eva Foam, the chest plate is car pumper plastic.
about how long did this take I'm considering doing this or the storm trooper for Halloween...
It depends how much time you can spend on it. The Vader costume is faster, can be ready for Halloween.

What were the lightsaber fx made in?
Element 3D, Saber plug in
What kind of plastic did you use? Did you heat it with a heat gun?
For the bottom part I used car bumper plastic, and yes you'll need a heat gun

The child helmet a half mask and a dome combined toghether....I don't know the brand I found them in a thrift store.

The armor is hand made, the hemet is combination of a dome I found in a thrift store and a half mask, plus I've changed the eye lenses to dark (sungglasses)

Excellent tutorial for an awesome costume! Where is your son’s helmet/mask from? It’s one of the only ones I’ve seen that looks good without being wayyyy too big.
Thank you, always good to hear the praise:) My son's helmet is a mix of a dome and a half mask I found in a thrift store separately...I just realized later than I can put them together if I cut the top of the half mask to fit it in the dome. than I replaced the originally clear lens with a sunglasses lens.
Did you use the voice changer helmet?
Yes, for the helmet I have an other tutorial, I turned a half voice changer mask into a full helmet!
