There is so much anime out there that there are some VERY noticeable tropes and cliches found in every single one. Let me walk you through all of them because trust me, there is a lot. BUT it's all food and all great--yes even the toast.

Of these, the tournament arc and school festival trope are the ones that I enjoy the most, mostly because they give the characters a chance to show off their talents in various different forms. They also make for good character growth as some characters navigate through what they want to pursue after high school, or measure up to other characters and see where they are compared to others.
With those said, it's also better to know when to have a festival or tournament arc, why the story should have one, and what it adds to the story in terms of plot and character development, instead of just being shoehorned in with little relevance to the overall story.

Another trope might be the episode about a character taking a sick time (they get ill, oftenly by catching a cold).
Love that one though :) Its very sweet when one main character takes care of a sick guy or girl

I didn't really notice the anime trio until you brought it up. That's interesting, and I'm suddenly trying to apply it to anime it's not really in. I don't think Girl's Last Tour has A main trio, because aside from Yuuri and Chito, nobody sticks around for more than A couple episodes.

Believe me, those are only the popular examples with the huge ability tree that treat their viewers a bit like kids.
Many Anime have that in check and barely to never do that or at least by exposition dump.

Is called them giving a piece of exposition and it is bad
Exposition if not used well is bad and becomes a writing problem
It can become bad writing if it is done too much.

My friend recommended to me the food wars but the ecchi was just too much and too disturbing, I couldn't just look away 😂 same with harem animes, the logic in them is just lacking, there is a completely average guy that is maybe nice but that's it and has 4-5 girls that are crazy about him and following him everywhere. Like no way that would happen irl, I can only think of one example in my life where 3+ girls liked one guy but he was smart, nice, handsome and good at sports, still they only liked him secretly and not followed him everywhere 😂

i've started to hate the "trap" trope, it always just ends up being used to perpetuate transphobia and homophobia against femme queer men.
also: haruhi's dad in ohshc isn't a "trap", he's a drag queen. that's why he's dressed like that.
And just the word.... it's not at all what's said in Japanese. A proper English translation of the word would be 'male daughter'. But nah. translators just hadda be shits about it.

I just hate the beach episodes, hot springs episodes , and the cultural festival/summer festival episodes with a passion....like I'd imagine the festival episodes for American anime if more existed would be like "FUN DAY EPISODE" , " END OF SCHOOL YEAR PARTY EPISODE", "FIELD TRIP EPISODE", " HOMECOMING EPISODE", "VALENTINES DAY DANCE EPISODE " , "PROM EPISODE", or "SENIOR SKIP DAY EPISODE"😆. however these type of episodes would be a breath of fresh air for anime tbh .
So I guess having the characters having fun is a problem. Don't people like going to the beach? Also culture/Summer festive is apart of Japanese culture!
