my mom once walked in when i was watching highschool DxD
i was def shamed XD
@@inakyu at least it wasnt straight up hentai XD
@@inakyu Yeah... I haven't watched a single episode of food wars since my father walked in on me watching the show... Dark times...
@@mounia8548 Just watch it with him. Who knows, he might enjoy it. My Mum enjoys Konosuba a lot.
My mom is weird, she walked in on me watching Magic User's Club and in the worst possible time too...she thought it was a porno for the longest time
"Never skip the opening" - mixed feelings about that one cause sometimes i skip it for shows to avoid spoilers
Bro you're not gonna understand the spoilers if it's the first time watching the anime 💀
us..
I’ve been spoiled before because I watched an op, so I disagree with that one
I’m part of that group that keeps subtitles on for everything. I’m usually eating while watching stuff, and my hearing ain’t so good. Always worth it to know for sure what’s what.
Same buddy same,, especially the eating part😂
Same but I sometimes don't eat while im watching anime
I agree with most except the sub over dub. I watch dubs when I can because I have disabilities that affect my processing abilities and make it more difficult to understand subs than dubs, plus I just personally prefer them most of the time. My autism also makes it so that I really can’t tell the difference in meaning between the subs and dubs anyway, like the two clips from Naruto you showed honestly did not seem different to me lol. My sister also has dyslexia and cannot read subtitles fast enough or accurately enough, so she relies on dubs as well. I think it’s great if you prefer watching anime in its original language but PLEASE don’t relentlessly pick on those who use dubs because many disabled people need them to properly understand their favorite shows.
I’m sorry, call me a fake anime fan all you want but I have to go dub. I just feel like I connect to the characters more when they speak my native language. I also have to do something while I watch anime. I usually clean or do crafts or draw. Also sometimes I find dub to be better than sub on rare occasions. Assassination classroom is a good example of that in my personal opinion. Koro-sensei’s voice acting in the dub is absolutely AMAZING!!
Yes I agree, for me it's also just easier to connect when I can HEAR what their saying, also big agree on koro-sensei's ENG voice :) 👍
Mother's Basement released an episode today on 3D CGI where he compared it to the subs vs dubs and said "why not both". At this point most dubs are actually good, and the 2 have distinct advantages like subs opening up way more options and coming out first, and dubs being your native language and often have corrected wierd translation glitches, not to mention not requiring you to look at the screen so you can do things like eat, excerise, wash the dishes, or work.
Currently JJK is my example of why i prefer dubs, specifically Nobara has a line in the exchange event that just hits so much harder in the dub. (Also when dub transitions to subs on some platforms a bunch of speach quirks pop up like the epithets of big bro or lil sis which no english speaker ever prefixes their siblings name with, and definitely not every time they say it. I can only assume its a quirk of japanese to english translation where the relationship is implied in how they say the name and a translation software included it and anyone doing a dub would correct it)
I fully get that in the past dubs could be horrific, but Naruto aired dubbed in America along with plenty of other Anime so i really don't see the problem. (Or how people can extract so much more emotion from voices no in their native language, languages have such different rules about things like stressing and tonal importance that i don't get how people genuinely get more emotion out of it unless the dub didn't even try)
Oh well im just a relatively new fan who thinks subbed vs dubbed is basically just gatekeepers being gatekeepers. (Aka people being toxic)
Your opinion is invalid
@@TeamSenke all opinions are valid 👁
I agree, especially in certain animes where you need to watch for specific details but can’t because you are reading. And as for translation errors- wouldn’t that apply to subtitles. It’s still a translation.
I can’t recount how many times I have been spoiled on Twitter already...
My biggest problem is that I'm the one spoiling it for myself
Twitter is a bad place trust me
@@HoodedStatue nah not really
Loved this, thanks for posting. Don’t lewd the loli! So glad someone said this out loud. As a guy in his 30s I find it super creepy when people do this & it has spoilt shows for me in the past! Also the 3 episode rule is so true especially for anime but also for other style series as well. Great video. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
No Game No Life ruined the show in the first couple minutes for me for instantly sexualizing the 11 year old girl. They literally show a pantie shot of her and it shows her camel toe when she’s only 11! It instantly put a bad taste in my mouth. I tried watching 4 episodes but they kept sexualizing her and it just ruined it for me and I stopped watching. Idk how so many guys love that show. Must be a bunch of pedophiles.
I tend to apply the 3-episode rule to all my watching, but sometimes I fudge it. Life is too short sometimes when a show can grab me in one episode. Also, if I find something morally objectionable to me, a show doesn't get the three episodes.
The mushishi openings are also fantastic. They put me into a ethereal mood that allows me to truly enjoy the all the slow-cooking flavors of that show.
im only on the 1st season of aot but ive already been spoiled for so much. its so disappointing
@@inakyu yes 😭😭
@@wintsyyy i do but people i know still spoil it for me
Funny example with the Madara clip, I personally prefer the Dubbed Madara compared to the Japanese. His voice is 10x more terrifying to me with his deep tones, but yes in that clip you showed the Japanese madara was better but overall dubbed madara was phenomenal imo.
I agree with the sub/dub thing, but as an italian there is one anime that all people who speak italian as their first language need to watch dubbed: death note! Kira's laugh is extraordinary, that voice actor is really famous here in Italy and his performance in death note makes it worth to watch it dubbed. For what concerns other series, subtitles are generally better
I'LL TAKE SOME FUSILLI... AND EAT IT!!!
Completely agree that OP 1 of beastars is a BANGER one of the few openings I have never or will ever skip
I consider myself well seasoned otaku ( 15 years in the game and still going strong baby). I love how the anime community has expanded. It’s beautiful! Great video! Your tips are well appreciated for the beginners!
This was horrible experience my mom walked on me twice the first time around watching jjk when I paused on the dead gory corpse and the second time was more recent when she saw Nagatoro riding Senpai😓
great video again of course! Your discord is the only one I’m actually contemplating joining because I need more anime friends and you’re my fav 💜
gosh i'm glad u got ur channel back
1:07 "you can't judge an anime by its first episode"
me, who quit watching My Hero Academia 15 minutes into the first episode because I wasn't interested: "fine... i guess i'll have to keep watching"
Yes
I quit at episode 4 because Deku got his powers, i thought he would try to get strong without powers, like Asta from Black Clover who got strong without any magic.
Hey, I just found your channel through Anton's channel and as a newbie anime viewer I love your content! New subscriber 🙂
Thanks for the vid inakyu, hope you have a better weekend. 🙌
your videos are amazing!! and yes, i now have to watch Hunter hunter with headphones because my mum just had to walk in on hisoka...
You are doing a great job!
Haha rule #2 is great. I was watching love, chunibyo, and other delusions with english audio and english subtitles and there were a crazy amount of differences. It made me realize that whoever is in charge of the dubbing just thinks we're all morons -_-
your editing gets better every vid forreal omg also congrats on 5k!!!
CONGRATS ON 5K, Sabrina, you really deserve it! 🥳🥳 Hope you get to 10k in like, Idk, a month? Less? I just hope you do it quick, because I REALLY enjoy your videos, and I think you deserve moree 😊
1) You can definitely tell with some anime if it's a hard pass immediately, lol. If the show doesn't raise a red flag I do usually try to give it a few episodes. Very true that a lot of shows have slower pacing and take a couple episodes to build your investment in the setting.
2) Some dubs are actually really good. The dub is always going to be a different experience than the sub, but sometimes that different experience can be great in it's own way. Subs are generally better though, it's almost unheard of to have a modern anime with bad/unprofessional voice acting.
3) Always listen to the opening at least once. If it's a bop, I'll rewatch it all/most episodes. If it's not a bop, I skip.
Absolutely agree with you! While the "rules" about spoiling the show, headphones and lolis are quite legit, the rest is kind of a taste thing more then anything.
I needed to know these rules as I'm still kind of new to anime so thank you Inakyu❤
Omg I really learned alot by watching this video like skipping opening songs I skip every opening song and I watch dub but my friends are like dub is worst
THE BEST DISCORD SERVER !!! love the vid as usual :D
Anime openings should be watched. I accidentally skipped the opening for Noragami Aragoto. I watched it on the second episode and it’s still my favorite opening.
Spoilers are the worst. AOT spoilers are the worst!
Ily so much your videos are amazing!!!!
I love watching you, thank you so much for your videos love them so much! (Great video!)
Ah, I remember these unspoken rules and how I had to learn them as I go. I used to actually have an 8 or 9-episode rule, because I similcasted a lot of stuff, and something critical always happens that far in, that recontextualizes everything that came before it! Little did I know, this was just the anime industry's way of implementing the 3-act structure across a 12 of 13 episode season.
Rule #2 is a slap in the face, takes me back. I had no choice, subbed wasn't available. I went through the trifecta, 3 languages.
I watched anime dubbed it my native language(Tagalog).. DragonBall Z, Yu Yu Hakusho(it was called Ghost Fighter)
and Slam Dunk. Later Bleach and Naruto..
Then other local channels had Samurai X and Pokemon that were english. I thought Pokemon was actually an American cartoon.
Then when I had access to Subs I never looked back.
If had to choose one good dubbed anime, Stein's Gate is on par with the subbed one..
Especially Rintaro..
I follow most of the rules you mentioned. Skipping the OP is proabably the rule I break the most unless it's banger like Jujutsu Kaisen KaiKai Kitan or Fire Force Inferno or Black Clover's Black Catcher. Kaibutsu in Beastars in another one.
Most OP's are misses but there are a few that just hits you..
Great video..
i have so many of your videos. i love these. i started watching it bcoz one of my friends wanted me to watch death note. he almost talked about it every single day. just like you mentioned in one of your old vids. i was literally forced. i liked it so much that I finished it in less than a week. but my most fav is fairy tail. and all I see about fairy tail are memes and how it is not good anime. i want your honest opinion.
like what you like. my favorite anime is saiki k, which is much loved in the community, but my friends around me think it's a stupid and silly show with no depth. so like what you like. you want to watch fairy tail? watch fairy tail, it's good to YOU and YOU'RE the one watching it. who cares if they think it's not a good anime?
with rule 3 "never skip the opening", i understand for shorter shows or for when you are caught up so you only see the opening with a new episode, but y when i am binging a show i will always skip the opening because its just a repeated thing that doesn't get you further in the mood of the show because you are watching like 10 episodes at a time. (Great video, thanks)
Love your videos and your vibe keep going 🦋love u💕
im not fast enough to watch subbed lol ( even in english sometimes) I think dubbed is judged a lot, i understand how there can be a difference. I feel its best not to judge since some anime watchers really need dubbed to understand or they have a disability and require dubbed subtitles.
Great well said video. As a newbie im very grateful
Very interesting, thanks I guess 😂
Your shirt is so cool!!
update to this video: you're allowed to skip every ending except for Chainsaw-man endings. Skipping CSM endings is absolutely not allowed at all, even more so than skipping the opening of most anime since the ending is different in every single episode
It’s not that I don’t want to watch the sub it’s just hard for me I have super bad Dyslexia so I miss a lot of things I always try to watch the sub but end up feeling stupid cus I don’t understand what’s happening all my friends make fun of me for it but I want to enjoy the anime not feel bad or stupid I’ll get there one day but till I can get my reading better I’m stuck with the dub
My sister has this problem too, people are honestly kinda ableist with the whole sub vs dub thing sometimes and don’t take into consideration the many disabilities that could potentially impact someone’s ability to watch and understand subs
Thank you
The 3 episode rule is important for sure, I remember I hated attack on titan until the 3rd episode, now it’s one of my favorite animes I’ve ever watched.
Sometimes it is necessary to apply the 3 episode rule, cause there’s some that I definitely would’ve missed out on if I didn’t stick it out a little longer. I would’ve been sad if I did that with Steins gate because it ended up being one of my favorite animes. But, there’s some animes that got me interested within the first 5 minutes of the first episode.
Watching "The Seven Deadly Sins" with English sub really takes the emotion out of the emotion like all "Full counter" scenes
You are Filipino too?
Anyways I'm 32 years old and I'm part of a Anime Group that only contains 27 members including me and my 3 friends, it's a nice and wholesome group who just wanted some friends to talk about anime when we are in our day off or in vacation and when we are depressed, they are very respectful and helps new weebs recommending them beginner anime and explaining the "rules"... We don't try to recruit since when we made this group 27 of us are already been internet friends (except for my 3 friends, they are my homies ever since we are kids) for quite a long time now so we know our personalities and such and we don't really fully trust people to behave since trust is very hard to earn
It's just a shame that the reputation of anime community is already bad because of the toxic part of it...
#5 Yes please! dont spoil. I got randomly spoiled for end game and cannot forget it ( ha ). I usually would ask " Do you want me to spoil it?"
i only watch the op and ending once. then I skip XD
but I put the music on my playlist if I like it XD
Lol and I thought I came up with the 3 episode rule myself- but I'm definitely glad I stuck with it.. otherwise I would've never continued watching one of my favourite animes (which by the way is **coughfatestaynightcough** )✌️
i always watch anime with headphones on since my luck tends to be quite terrible lol. i can't even imagine what would've happened if my mom walked in while i was watching like highschool dxd or something ( i watched like 15 min of the show and never layed my eyes on it again )
"You can't judge anime by its first episode"
I absolutely can and you can do nothing to stop me lol
I need more general recommendations
I barely ever use headphones for watching anime, but I also mostly watch anime with my brother or my dad. With my brother I mostly watch somewhat recent anime, usually from the last 20 years, while with my dad I mostly watch older anime.
When I heard the 3 episode rule I instantly thought theres no way I can only watch 3 episodes at a time
where did you got this merch that you're wearing in the video? can you specify? also, have you watched Tokyo Revengers?
Tokyo Ghoul opening is defo a BOP for me!!
HaHa! Rule no. 4 always gets me.
Lol!! Your reaction during rule no. 5 at 7:13 I love Shiro but not a waifu material to me
Rule 6 is a general sin in all communities. Isn't it?
@inakyu would've been better if you replied to some of these questions
It’s not just the anime community don’t spoil anything in any medium of entertainment
Perhaps an additional rule: DON'T make a show your entire personality, heck even a part of your personality. Anime and manga are forms of art and literature, and should be analyzed and critiqued as such. It is possible to like or even love something and still see its shortcomings.
I always watch the openings/intros to all shows, I don’t understand people who get tired/annoyed of them tbh
I always watch sub as I like to hear the original but most of the time dub is also amazing but i just like sub better . Also I have never skipped an opening in my life
Slowly joining anime community-
Also i need new recommendations
(Im watching jujutsu kaisen , one piece , aot , bsd , demon slayer and the promised neverland)
I'd recommend Code Geass.
Wonderful
I've recently started getting into anime and i got lots of slack for enjoying the dub so i just started watching sub. Although I do now prefer sub on most things I like dubbed Aot because the titan screams are just more satisfying :)
i prefer dubs tho, cuz idk i can follow the story better in dub and simply feel much more connected to the characters when they speak a language i understand...especially with hellsing baccano or black butler where the story is set in england/america...i watch subs on my rewatch runs just to see what they're like, and the writing is better in some cases, but my main problem is that the comedy/horror/weight of what is said is kind of absent when you read it off a subtitle...again just my personal experience
I’m huge Anime fan And lover 😁💚 I really appreciate Anime intros opening
I skip the intro >_< I don't want to, but I'm so strapped for time these days, I'm just trying to squeeze an episode or two in wherever I can. I always make a point to at least watch them for the first and last episode, though (assuming they have them).
Hi guys do you have a discord link to a Pokémon group or an anime group. I really wanna join, interact and start activity, but so just never knew how to start this 😂
I have seen only 3 anime series so far and their EPIC
Yu-Yu Hakushou dubbed is better than their anime sub counterpart, in my opinion. :3
amazingg
I just saw some pics of an anime character . I don't remember his name was goju I guess he was a white haired man who killed me at first sight so I wanted to start watching animes
I have some questions
Tell me ur story how did u start watching anime ( just to get an idea )
Where can u watch anime
Any recommendations? ?
Tq for reading pls reply to me who ever reads this i beg u
"do not lewd the loli"
all the people who have Nezuko as their waifu: **sweat**
lmao
Lewd loli is normal in 2013 😕
@@Shin-lh9ih what the fuck
they're probably underage too though..
if they're 17-18 and above its very weird though ngl.
Amazing
I like dubs and subs
I would rather say never skip the opening the first time u see it..... Coz most of the times we weeb are binging 10to20 episodes at a times and sometimes they are just a hindrance in the on going story..... For example in narutos war arc I skipped everytime😅😅😅😅......
Yeah but what about if people who doesn't understand japanese and Don't wanna stare at the subtle all the time??
"Don't lewd the loli" is on the writers sometimes. The fairy girl from Seven Deadly Sins and the sister from No Game No life are actually the worst examples for me. Which turned me off of those shows tbh. Shits wierd man
I'd say for some shows it's better to skip the OP for the first few episodes to avoid spoilers
Ok I have 2 question
1 how do u script your videos and how do u deliver them so well ??
And what bit rate do u export your videos in ???
Give me all your secrets !!!!!
My parents watched HxH with me and they didn’t even react to the Hisoka scene
What should be my first Anime should it be dubbed? I really want to get into anime world
Rule 4 got me😂😅
who here has seen kimi ni todoke? literally the best highschool romcom.
The problem with watching the opening is, IT SPOILS THE SHOW every single time. Like showing characters who are not yet introduced or bits of crucial arcs.
3:57 I think it's totally unfair to call that bad dubbing, yes it wasn't as passionate as the sub but you read the scene wrong. Madara was hyped to fight Hashirama, he literally would refuse to fight Hashirama's wood clones so of course he's happy to see Hashirama. The dub did it fine and also the sub had no intention of making Madara sound angry at all, calling that scene out is quite unfair to the English dubber especially since he did many great works in Naruto.
I broke these rules
Skipping the opening (I skipped the tbhk opening)
Not wearing headphones (nobody in my family cared, I'm pretty sure they ignored it)
(Saturday March 5, 2022)
Oh yea and there's this rule that I've certainly noticed..uhh.. u can't call urself a weeb if u started watching anime in since the quarantine, cuz apparently ur just a "trend watcher" and u don't actually love anime.. I mean, I swear I didn't even know watching anime became a "trend" at around the time I got obsessed with it, but idk I guess I'll just keep that to myself, since I'll just be called a "fake" and a "trend watcher" again 😅✌️
im dyslexic, i kinda have to watch a show in dub if im going to enjoy it...
I just found this vid now, but these rules are literally the reason why the anime community isn't at their lowest point yet frr
The reason to watch the original dub is older shows contains made up lines or change atmosphere of the show. The best example is DBZ. It sounds more cheesy and changes a lot of dialogues entirely. It inserts additional explanations of everything. It has downright errors too, when translator used different meaning of word disregarding context. Even subs contain translation errors, but the general meaning is not changed for sake of accommodation to different culture or expectations producers of localized version had.
I skip opening and ending immediately, if I don't like the music, which is most of the time. If the music is not to your taste, it's waste of time. Good OP and ED is just nice thing to have, it doesn't have influence on the quality of story and characters.
Rule 6 is only the one that truly matters at the end of the day.
After reading the aot manga, I can't listen to red swan or shock without tearing up
I WATCH DUB ANIME AND I'M NOT EMBARRASSED
My rule with most anime of it has more than one season is the 1 season rule
At this point I can't even google stuff when I don't understand ish. It sucks, because I've been spoiled one too many times for me to even try anymore T_T
P.S the worst spoilers for me are the ones about a season that isn't even out yet. I've been spoiled about haikyuu!!! Season 5 After researching a simple question (like it was in the title of the article) And now I'm not so excited about the show coming out anymore
7:44
Saikawa: *big gulp*
Please some video on suggestions please
I agree with all the rules except the subs over dubs I personally think dub is better than subs because english is my native language and I just dont get the same excitement from dubs but no hate against sub watchers and congrats on 5k
Damn I suck. I didn't even know the first rule...
Me looking for spoiler of demon slayer and literally asked my friend for the actual thing 🤣 is it okay?
I watch dub nominally because I am a slow reader and I have to pause the anime to read it in any heavy talking scean so it takes me out of the anime
Too adhd for subs... ill read something n my thoughts start gtn rly loud an completely miss whats happening because im talking bout something i read 10 mins ago.. an when i say talking i mean internally.
