- I saw this Air 2 Levitating Bluetooth Speakers and just had to take it apart to see what’s inside! We broke it down and LOVED what we found!
Air 2 speaker won the 2015 Innovation award at CES (Consumer Electronics Trade show).
The speaker plays music up to 12 hours on a full charge and floats while it plays. I enjoy just looking at it without the music playing.

It needs to be charged because it is an electromagnet. This allows it to be turned on and off, preventing the dangers associated with a powerful magnet.
But theres a battery inside of it, so your reason isnt the actual reason, i would say because the magnetic field depends on the strengt of the current so when you charge it theres a bigger current.
+Justin Elrod thats wrong too because there is no current going through the metal, the metal is there to direct the magnetic field making it stronger, but i guess thats what you meant?

after the magnet broke in a chip piece broke off it starts spinning on its own without electric power that might be open door to a free power source it was turning without any external Force how long does it turn for hours or days?

it has permanent magnets as well as electro magnets. this speaker uses electro magnetic levitation. it does not use perminant magnetic levitetion because it is much weaker and requirs more expensive diomagnetic materials.
electromagnets are basicaly magnets that use electricity and you can turn on and off

well, i do not know of anywhere but i do know if you look up "diy electromagnetic levitation tutorial" and you feel up to the task you can make them yourself.
its basically just a steel rod wrapped in wire many times and the wire is conected to some sort of power.

They have magnets that pull it down and magnets that push it away which balances it, the high it gets the, more likely it'll fall. if u put it to close it'll go downward at it because the magnets that pull it down are more powerful than the push away magnets

Nice guess, but that isn't how it works.
Actually, it is, if I'm understanding their comment right. There's magnetic sensor which sensors the distance from the electromagnet in the base to the magnet that is being levitated, if it senses that the magnet is getting too close then it increases the power of the electromagnet pushing the levitating magnet out and if it's getting too far out then it lowers the power of the electromagnet. It's just doing this calculation loop so quickly that you can't tell that it's actually wobbling up and down minutely.
