The bikers suspected that they were dealing with something not human ..Matt was in a different situation he had no clue &he was protecting his gf and territory from an unknown intruder and that gave him extra strength and courage he never learned that he fought a fuckin’ machine from the future...He was brave and an alpha anyway because facing Arnie in his prime would’ve been intimidating for anyone even if he was not a cyborg weighting 1000 pounds...BUT the fact that Matt was able to tackle it was far fetched and basically a movie mistake

@@RyZeRxWolfChannel Not necessarily, he most likely would have died from the nuke in 1997 but if he survived, he definitely wouldn’t be too old to continue fighting. He looks to be in his mid to late 20s here in 1984, so he’d be in his late 30s to early 40s by 1997, which is a bit older than most newly recruited soldiers but he would still be in his prime and judging by the way he looks now, he still would probably be in good shape by that time and still able to fight.
He actually did survive. 2 years later he became Iceman’s co-pilot and greased up volleyball 🏐 partner in Top Gun.🛩🇺🇸👍

I think the T-800 just refrained from using the gun because there was obviously still a second person present that may be alerted by gunfire and flee. Little does he know that person wouldnt even hear a gunshot anyway.

3:40 I love the way the Terminator's aim immediately snaps to the phone as soon as it rings, and holds steady on it until it analyzes that it's not a threat. Except for blinking when he shoots, Arnie really nailed the robotic mannerisms in this movie.
the terminator probably blinks to protect it's human eye from anything the bullet might send flying.
It might just be one of Skynet's ruses to make Terminators more human.
I wonder why they did not pick up on this in the other movies. Arnold even trained to stop blinking while shooting in Genisys.
@@NewStarConstellation it could also be argued that never blinking means never losing track of the target. Either way I think the muzzle flashes could have been used to hide Arnie's blinking here a bit better.
There are many passing but great moments like this in The Terminator. Just look at at moment during the police station shootout when the T-800 turns his head to the control box before opening it to disable the lights. This move looks so robotic. You can find many of this moments in the movie. Arnold really didn't lie when he said that he tried to imagine the T-800 as his skeleton during the shooting of this movie
@@kriptictak it’s probably to make sure no gunshot residue gets in the human eye.
Also, muzzle flash is really bright so it’s quite possible the terminator blinks to protect their lenses from the bright light.
When Terminator was full of jumpscares, heart skipping, and purely terrifying moments and not just fully CGI.
dark fates final battle was pretty good but other than that yeah, nothing compares to T1 and T2. Sarah connor chronicles was a pretty good show though

The attention to detail in this movie is so underrated. 3:42 you see the laser go straight to the telephone like clockwork, no jerky movements or anything. All one motion just like a MACHINE

The creepy thing about this scene is you know about halfway through the fight, Matt would have realised something is incredibly wrong with this guy who seemingly broke in like your average criminal joe. Too strong, throws you around like you weigh a feather, and if he managed to land a punch his knuckles would’ve broken...

He was going to be full of adrenaline but he would have definitely known something was weird when everytime he grabbed it it felt like hard metal and when he tried to tackle/double leg it. You can tell he knows how to fight and is in good shape. He would definitely know he was fighting something not regular human. He kept fighting till the end though. Didnt bitch out

You know what freaks me out the most about this? The basic fact that Sarah is doing something completely understandable for her situation, calling her friend to help her because she's worried she's being stalked by a murderer...but doesn't know at all that not only are her friends dead, _she's unknowingly telling the killer where she is (and that it isn't her that the Terminator just killed) and how to find her_
The idea of trying to do something that it makes sense to do, but it unknowingly _helping endanger you further_ terrifies me. As well as that the only "person" listening to Sarah is the Terminator sent to kill her, and she has _no idea or way to know that at all_
Then she makes the same mistake again, telling her ''mother'' where she is. Which ends up causing kyle reese to die.
It always made me wonder what would have happened to the timeline if Matt had accidentally broken the answering machine or phone and Sarah hung up. What if the T800 THOUGHT it had killed Sarah...

Guesses would be it would either do what it could to further engineer and aid Skynet from within the past, or shut down.
Plus, the advice the detectives give her (stay in a crowd, be in a well lit, open place) is all sound advice for avoiding a stalker...but her stalker doesn't care about being seen or collateral damage.
I love how this movie subtly shows technology is already betraying humanity, the Terminator is using the police radio, Sarah's friend didn't hear the Terminator killing her boyfriend because she had headphones on and the Terminator found out Sarah was at the night club because of an answering machine

No way dude if anything it would self destruct or shut down, skynet would not be dumb enough to let the humans having their hands on a terminator potentially ruining skynet from ever happening. The terminator must have had some sort of communication with skynet from the future, how else would it know if it's task was done? The terminator knew it couldn't go back to the future so it must have relayed it somehow to skynet. Either that or he literally waited all those years in hiding to tell skynet it was a success if he had succeeded in killing sarah

I'm saying that had he been successful in killing sarah conor, the terminator must have contacted skynet from the future to tell them that he completed his task. Therefore skynet must have ordered the terminator to self destruct or shut down in order for the terminator not to get into human hands.
Listen carefully when the Terminator throws Matt at the door at 3:04 - it sounds like a gunshot, and the Terminator is already holding his pistol. In addition, he shoots Ginger a total of six times (one in the hallway and five to execute her), making a total of seven shots if you count what sounds like a shot against Matt. The AMT Hardballer pistol he uses here holds a total of seven rounds, further supported by the fact that the Terminator reloads the pistol after killing Ginger.
Not only is this great attention to detail for the pistol's ammo capacity, but it also means that Matt actually gave the Terminator enough trouble for the latter to just say "fuck this" and resort to the pistol to finish him off quick because he kept getting back up. Matt really was the MVP of this scene here.
Matt was an total badass to fight for so long that the terminator had to use a pistol to kill him.
when he reloads, you can tell there is still one in the chamber because the slide is forward.
3:56 for me one of the most haunting parts of the film, as soon as the terminator hears the voice of Sarah it instantly turns and starts scanning the audio it’s receiving

I never liked how Arnie blinked everytime he shot. It makes you appreciate Robert Patrick's performance even more.
Yeah, he had problem with that. Thats why they agree that Arnie wear glasses :). He did better job in t2 tho.
Just remember that the t800 is living flesh over a chassis. It acts like a human and even blinks. The blinking while firing is a small price to pay when the fact Arnold is genuinely terrifying in this comes into play. The sunglasses were drawn in the original concept art. It has nothing to do with blinking but rather to stop the t800s bright eyes from showing after the damage.
I like to think this a full infiltration unit designed to act like a human being but without having the possibility to mimic any being encountered unlike the T1000. The T800 flesh was made to react like a normal body hence the eyes blinking which the T1000 does not need because his body can perfectly reproduce anybody encountered and also their body reactions when needed.

No one could play the terminator but Arnold. Not just because of his imposing size, but the way he moves with such efficiency. The cold, robotic movements, and no fancy tricks, just taking out his targets and moving on to the next. I can't say enough how much I love this movie.

Nobody mentions enough how much of a badass Matt was. He wakes up to see a guy PUNCH A HOLE THROUGH THE MATTRESS. And his response is to attack him. And then he gets thrown into a mirror. And he gets BACK up and goes at him again! Props for defending your gal, dude. They set him up as this goofy Anthony Michael Hall seeming guy but he must've been a Green Beret or something..
He was in Roxanne with Steve Martin and Darryl Hannah as well...had a pretty good acting career.
I noticed that also. He went immediately on the offensive, gets thrown through glass and goes right back at him when he could have jumped off the balcony and gotten the hell out of there. Looks like he went for the legs and probably knocked the T-800 down. He lasted about 20 seconds-well enough for anyone in nothing but Fruit of the Looms. Not sure if they confirm whether he was knocked out or killed.

A T-1000 was more smart than a T-800 when in killing mode. A victim mostly couldn't see what was coming.

For those who think it is impossible for Mat to tackle the t800 with the leg grab because of the weight of the terminator it's not. Whether it's 400 or 1000 pounds. The t800 was just standing there with his legs close to each other when Mat grabbed him and that would have made it easier for Mat to knock it off balance. Mat pushed on the lower body and legs which is the easiest why to knock anyone over plus the terminator is built like human and so could fall from this move.
Also Mat didn't successfully tackle it to the ground it looks as though the t800 was about to loose balance but didn't and then proceeded to throw him. The camera cut out a little too quick there that it's hard to see it.

Pretty sure in the original Cameron movies, the T800s don't weigh much more than a human of their typical size since they have to pass as human beings.
If the terminators weighed more than that the resistance could have more easily determined who was a terminator or not.
RIP Matt, it was cool seeing him show courage against an intruder but sad knowing he didn't stand a chance against a killing machine. This is why this movie rocks.

a terminator cannot self-exterminate. That said, an implicit side mission of this terminator is to ensure the existence of the skynet through its remains. So I think a priority for Arnold is to stay "alive."
I remember reading in the novel that when he checked Ginger's body, he determined that she was not Sarah. He was looking for a scar or some sort of bio marker. I don't remember what it was exactly.

The thing that got me about this fight is that you don't see what's going on in between the cut scenes. You see Matt getting tossed around, but you don't know what happened before that. In addition, with each scene you see Matt getting progressively weaker. It's just great directing by Cameron because so much is left to the imagination.

A terminator is strong enough to punch through concrete so a single direct punch to the head would easily kill him. Only reason it didn’t kill kyle was he was hit more with a hard slap plus the terminator was pretty banged up at that point so it’s motors may not have been full strength

Throwing your target around is a good way to conserve ammunition *and* daze the target so it cannot mount a proper defense. Even if it were equipped to do so. You gotta consider that being tossed like a ragdoll would be pretty taxing on your body anyway.

Exactly...i think T800 weights around 300kg...ish? What's the exact weight anyway? Has it been told ever? Actually I just looked it up...mostly it says the T800 weights around 400-600lbs so that's about 180-270kgs.

My favourite part is when Arnie turns to listen to the voice msg. His reaction to hearing Sarah’s voice js immediate and the way he stares at the phone with that cold emotionless her stoic facial expression. It’s just so badass. Arnie was born to be the terminator.

i remember being a small kid watching this movie...so many uncomfortable scenes... its unsettling how the T800 just busts into peoples place and kills them... and don't get me started on the being trapped claustrophobic parts...this movie never lets u relax... its a masterpiece of tension and emotion

Everyone saying it would have been impossible for him to lift a 400lb terminator, it's physics. He's not exactly lifting the terminators full 400lb weight straight up, he's hooking the legs and driving his own body forwards, using the weight of the terminator against him. Thus he is able to seemingly lift him from the ground for a moment by taking his legs out from under him. It's perfectly possible.
I'm surprised this scene isn't talked about more often. I mean, Matt was able to last longer in an unarmed fight against a Terminator, than most of the Human Resistance armed to the teeth. He even tackled him hard enough to make him stumble. I used to wonder why the Humans would eventually be victorious despite seeing them get slaughtered left and right during war scenes. Now I know. Because even when we're laying nearly naked, tired and without any weapons save for what we can get our hands on, we don't know when to quit. That fighting spirit Matt had against the Terminator, defines why the humans win.

I've been seeing a lot of comments on here talking crap about the guy. Dude, he went hand-to-hand with a freakin' Terminator and lasted a little while, sustaining major injuries. I'd say, he did pretty good, also considering he just woke up, fighting almost naked, and had absolutely no idea this monstrosity was a machine.
