Hey look, I reviewed the most common gun on Earth or something. If you enjoy my work, consider supporting me on Patreon: / thegunpenguin #glock #glock19 #9mm
Polymer striker guns are so similar now that I don't even tell people specific brands. I just tell them "Go in and ask to see some of the compact size guns, if they ask for more say Glock 19 size. Stay away from Springfield and brands that you don't see posters or hats for in the store"
Just saw the Def Tones this past weekend in Boston. That was a fun retrospective. I was fascinated because I’m 67 and have never even held a Glock except once when I picked up my daughter’s and handed it back. I have Sig Legions, hammer fired, and 1911s. The only plastic striker I have is a p365xl with Romeo sight. I have no use for all the plastic guns. Give me something that’s 44 ounces. Best Regards.
Great video!! I love seeing the old format every once in a while. I've come to the same conclusion as you, that all of the polymer guns out there are about equal in terms of quality. So buy and shoot what you like. I've been venturing into wheel guns to learn something new, and none of them in 9mm! The old saying goes - variety is the spice of life!
Another fantastic video. And I am glad to see that my threa... uh, my suggestions to review more black plastic pistols, have gotten you to do just that. Good. Good.
I know there are thousands of hundreds of thousands of videos about the Glock 19, but I love your channel and how you make your videos. I'd still watch you talk and shoot the G19
I would like to float on my back in an outdoor pool, three sheets to the wind on tequila under a full moon while listening to you put David Gilmore to shame for approximately 3 hours and then chill for a weekend while we don't think or talk about guns at all just for a change how's that sound call me thanks keep up the great everything hugs brother 😁👍
I kind of remember that as well. People loved the trigger on the P99, loved the ergonomics, and loved seeing it in the Bond and Underworld movies. My uncle bought one and I remember thinking the Walther P99 was the coolest pistol ever. It acted like like a hammer fired pistol with the AS system and button decocker, but it was a striker fired pistol 🤯. I was still a kid back then, but if you wanted a polymer frame, striker fired pistol you either went with a Glock, Springfield XD, S&W Sigma, or a Walther P99 (which was my favorite). I don't think it was until S&W released the original M&P lineup that Glock started having some real competition which I thought the P99 more than provided. Walther was just terrible with marketing and their pricing. I guess there are folk out there that thought the P99 was a little complicated or had too many safety features in hindsight, but back then hammer fired weapons were still extremely popular. Imagine how big Walther could have gotten if they made better choices with the P99 platform. Heck, look at what Canik has been able to do since 2016 and their pistols are based off the Walther P99. It also reminds me of how Walther dropped the ball on the tiny polymer frame, single stack striker fired pistol market. They were one of the first (possibly the first) to enter that market with the Walther PPS and didn't have any competition for years. Then the original M&P Shield completely dominated the market when it was released in 2012 with Ruger, Springfield, and Glock following behind to leave Walther in the dust. Such a shame.
@@JacksonWalter735 you can blame Walther's parent company Umarex for that I think. I have a gen 1 p99 and the trigger was like a revelation. I couldn't believe that a trigger this good existed. I'm trying to track down an HK with an LEM or light LEM trigger to see if its similar
And I just bought a Glock 19 gen 5 mos! The old guy doing my paperwork had a “this dumbass should be buying a 1911 in 45acp” look on his face and a young employee walked up to see what model I was buying, he got a big smile on his face and said Excellent choice!
How dare you sir, mocking the gun deity with such vulgar language. From this day forth your crunchy taco shells will lack crunchiness, your left shoe will fit more snugly and your dryer sheets will lack the bounce they advertise. Ok, now that that’s over, I’ve bought and sold four of these, yes, I’m not that bright. However, I now own a few PPQ’s that I really love so maybe I’m regaining some the intelligence I lost, or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. Anyway, yet another great video, and if you’ve read all of this I was just joking about the taco shells, I would never wish soggy shells on anyone.
I came to this same conclusion about coolness and features after the internet conned me into buying CZ pistols instead of HK because they gaslit me into thinking that HK pistols were just too expensive to even consider until I discovered gunbroker and other such sites lol. Then I bought one of the new VP9 for $450 with the sick fluorescent front sight and the blacked out rear and it ruined all of my other guns except for my Gen 1 P99 in .40 S&W and my M1911A1
I like glocks because of parts accessibility, and they tend to work. I can go to any random mom and pop gun shop in the country and find glock stuff. That's really the only reason why I have a few.
The SP-01 is a knock off HiPower roughly the whole 75-series. It got not connection to the wide ass rotating barrel 92FS series, the decocker on the tactical model and the Grenadier decocker isn't similar either. It's the better ergonomics for some even over the S2 that's just too heavy and often not versatile enough considering weight restrictions. I have to post this while I shot both and own neither to shut up the blort reflex within me. Btw. the CZ hipster wave isn't the same world wide cause they were always around. EDIT: Your Beretta looks cool AF.
@@thegunpenguin Nah, that's not it. Yo did a great job on the video. Might be still a slight language barrier or like usually I don't pick up on the not so obvious use of sarcasm these days as well. Could you try an Arma Zeca pistol? Don't worry, it's not polymer. It's like an Al-framed CZ with the locking of a sig. They use a captive push pin like on a rifle. There is some IWA footage of them.
@@onpsxmember Thanks! I haven't seen an Arma Zeka in person, and my only familiarity with them is from online articles and pictures. But, I'd definitely love to give it a shot! The AZ-P1 looks super cool! Maybe I'll be able to track one down eventually.
BDSM horse, Lol! …it’s the successor of the 19M and I have the 19x too. I still like mine, and I shoot like a boss. Yeah, yeah, I have Walther a bunch of PPQ’s and a Q5 too, so I’m not a complete cave man.I enjoy it for what it is. This was by far your funniest review. When you shoot long enough, you rotate and for me it’s between Walther and Glocks. The trigger gets to be nice, same with 19x. Just needs a fiber optic front and black out rear sight. You should review an Extar EP9, which uses the same mags. Shoots flat and accurate.
Haha classic. Love how dirty that gun is at the end. One of the best things about modern guns is you can abuse and neglect them and they still work. Not that you do that 😜
@@rudrashakti108 I ended up not buying it and just upgraded my smith and Wesson 9mm m&p 2.0 compact trigger to an apex trigger. It was the best thing I could have done and it saved me hundreds of dollars…
funny thing I've noticed...most people don't care what their hammer or screwdriver looks like. Yes there are tools on the market intended to grab the eye of the casuals, but look in a real workman's toolbox, and you will see utilitarian tools that work correctly first and foremost. Tools that work right for you don't need to look good, esp if they are intended to get used.
I'm not sure that workman's metaphor is right. The day that dude bought his hammer or the guy he bought it from it probably looked like a nice shiny hammer. But only now looks that way from being used all the time. Check out the brands the contractors use a lot, power tools specifically. Sure you might see the odd Ryobi but you're gonna see a LOT of Milwaukee and Dewalt and they're gonna look beat to shit. I'd imagine the reason they look that way is they last a long time. And you aren't seeing the drills that fail and get replaced. That being said, I think the point of this video is there are a lot more brands of guns that will last forever than drills which last forever. So the polymer frame handgun discussion is even more pointless than the discussion about what brand of drill you like the best.
Well, lets see here. Everything started off as shiny and new at some point, it has to. Even a utilitarian tool that wasnt fancy or eye catching. I also used screwdriver or hammer very specifically bc they are simple tools that dont generally lend themselves to brandwhoring like power tools do.
You have to love Glock! I can take it to the range and enjoy shooting it just to take it home to clean it and don't have to spend much time doing so.... Where other Firearms you have to beat out Roll pins just to take the slide apart.🙄🙄 I'm at the point now, I just want all my Handguns to be Glocks.
