This connections was so incredibly difficult and I like to think I’m pretty decent at that game
Another tough day for me in Connections. I was fine in Wordle though. We know that there is.ONE.person who is otherworldly ALWAYS succeeding at these games, particularly in Connections, Kenny. 😂
You had a very nice Wordle solve. IRONY was a great play. I got it in 5. ORATE--FLUID--CRISP--WRING--BRINY. I failed Connections. I only got the animals and the sharp turns. I had never heard of most of the games and failed to think about springs. Oh well, there is always tomorrow. Mini Crossword went well and I did Strands in about a minute. I got the Spanogram first.
Man, those crosses of two proper nouns, like TATARS / TOMKAT ARE BFUTAL, particularly in bigger crosswords.
Connections was very difficult, and I find I dislike whenever a connections has both a difficult yellow category and multiple red herring answers (mainly Mousetrap also being the name of a classic board game, but I also found Cat-egories providing just enough remaining animal-starting names to constitute a red herring second animal related category, though I also had absolutely no recognition in the subject of what the green category ended up being)
You did Strands faster than anyone I watched today, and most of them were pretty fast. I got it, also finding the Spangram first, but still not at your warp speed. You got me by 1 in Wordle. I solved Connections with no errors. I also had never heard of games called Fishbowl or Werewolf. (This game puts horrible images in my brain. 😱) However, I did have the advantage of knowing the road features, specifically names of turns, like hairpin, switchback. These come up a lot in mountain driving and the like. I finally saw the "Thibgs with Springs" category, which allowed me to finish the puzzle.

Got the bends and with a bit of thought , the springs that left only those weird American games.

Have you ever considered a channel to work through the NYT Sodoku puzzles? There's 3 puzzles everyday. I mostly just do wordle then the medium sodoku.
4 in wordle but bombed connections again. Just got green and yellow. A spring clock is handy when power is off and your battery dies!! Taaa/tar.
I actually found connections today to make a lot of sense. I got yellow, rainbow, purple, green, blue. I was surprised they put fishbowl as a classic party game though, seems unusually risqué for the NYT.

Connections was roughhhhh but I did get A category and figured out the gimmick to the purple.

got purple 2nd, my thought process was mattresses and trampolines being bouncy, so maybe things that are bouncy - oh mousetrap, "springs". Werewolf is basically the same as Mafia

The only one I was able to get in Connections was the purple (stuff with springs). I didn't get any of the other 3... Needed a hint on the mini. Wordle and Strands were easy.

If I don't know a word, I think it's fair that I get to look up that word but not the answer (like connections - i dont' look up the answer, but just a single word). I can't figure anything out if I don't know what something is.

I got to brinX by the 2nd or 3rd word. I almost didn't get it as there are a handful of brinX words.
GAMER, ROUST, BRINY. I didn't get the Blue for the same reason you didn't, but got the other ones.
Connections was tough for me also. I had to think for quite a while for me to piece it together. Solved the Mini, but took a while.

Why is it 'Math' in the states? Even though it 'Mathematics', and not 'Mathematic'!
This might not be the realy reason, but "math" feels easier to say imo. "Maths" feels like a bit of a mouthful. That th + s are too close in sound. I have no idea if that's the real etymology of the difference between this word in American vs British English.

I fee like I didn't do well in any of the games today other than Strands. I got the Wordle in 6; Misos (randomly generated) - Pride - Trick - Grill - Briar - Briny. I got the yellow category first in Connections and then had to look at some hints because I tried to guess the blue category too many times. I've heard of the other three, just not fishbowl, at first I thought it was mousetrap. In the Mini Crossword, I blanked on many of them and it took me a while to think of the right words, even then I didn't know 5 down at all, I also only know "sweet sixteen" as in the birthday celebration. It was just not my day.

Yeah that wordle sucked, but the next day convinced me to uninstall the app.

I miraculously got connections today! I'm so proud of myself! It was a LOT of geussing and luck. I got yellow and purple without stumbles/geusses. Though I wasn't actually 100% sure clocks had springs. I do know what a switchback is (its like a little dead end side trail you can use when your hiking, like maybe it goes down to a little creek, then you go BACK to the main trail) so I was sure it went with zag and I suspected hairpin (because I've heard of hairpin turn) and then I geussed that dogleg could be a bit related becauae nothing else really made sense. I looked it up after and I geuss its a golf thing or something? Idk. Total lucky geuss. I suspected categories, charades and fishbowl were party games. I haven't heard of fishbowl but it sounds like a game, doesnt it? Never would have geussed werewolf went with it if it wasn't all I had left.
Seriously, I've never been so ecstatic about actually getting connections. This one was REALLY hard and I was waaay not confident about my geusses but I got lucky.
Excellent job on the mini! This one took me AWHILE and I got stuck and had to check some of my geusses. Your chipping away at these was a great approach.
That might have been a record on strands. I also had to take a quick second for derive.
