  • In this video we cover your CenterLock PLANET3 needs!
    For the 2021 Levo Comp the only additional step is to install the replacement sensor carrier for which I refer you to the 6-bolt installation video here: • PLANET3 installation i... (it's literally the first step after the wheel is out).
    Recommended tools for the job:
    - cassette tool with a guided pin (preferably for 12 mm axles)
    - Torque wrench capable of 40 Nm
    - purple gloves like daddy has.

    You are in the wrong business my friend, you should make more instructional videos. Love your humour. Edit: Have ridden about 2000km since fitting Planet3 and it makes the bike soooo much better. No more riding along at 27.5km/hr with the motor constantly clicking in and out. I have also fitted the remote buttons to make changing assistance level fast and easy. This is truly the way it was meant to be.

      Hi Greg, well.. your wish may come true after all! Since I'm slowly going out of business due to my lack of marketing abilities (read: I feel like a sleazy scumbag if I try to push shit on people via social media), I might decide to become an absolute CZcams sensation one of these days. Then I can make fun of e-bike influencers who say a lot without saying anything and repeat word-for-word marketing pamphlets given to them by the manufacturers, while at the same time I take an absolute shit on the industry which should be regulated. :>

    I ordered this item last Wednesday and it arrived 2 days later. Very easy to install and works very well. I did read some comments that it reduces battery life but this is mainly only true if one is tempted to ride above ones normal assistance level and of course if you ride over the nominal 15.5 with the new assistance. To help offset this I have now fitted a new Specialized accessory which gives thumb buttons to control assistance levels on the handle bars so they now work in a sequential manner; 3,2,1 on the left and 1,2,3 on the right, as opposed to the previous 1,2,3,1,2,3. The reason why this helps battery life, is is now much easier to drop an assistance level if you do not need it
    So far this is a great product from a reliable provider. The only slight negative is the price is very high for the actual parts, but I suppose initiative and ingenuity has a price

    • @planet3bike
      @planet3bike  Před rokem

      Hi Richard. Yes, you can use all aspects of Mission Control to tune the bike. It's only the ride recording that you should maybe skip. Since the motor will register 3x lower values of speed and distance, at some point Specialized might start comparing GPS data they use to draw the ride map with speed sensor data and use that against users. For now they don't. But you can use Strava or a Garmin or whatever else. As far as shipping goes, it's DHL Express and it should be with you next day. Ships out from Bosnia, company is IOSS registered and EU VAT is all taken care of. You order via the webshop, it'll ship Monday and Tuesday it's in your hands. That's the M.O. 99% of the time. Sometimes DHL sends it to Turkey or some shit and then I have to yell at them. Rarely happens, but still. 😁

    • @planet3bike
      @planet3bike  Před 3 lety

      No, 2021 Levo Comp has a Shimano hub which is outright compatible with PLANET3. The kit for it on the webshop does not contain a replacement end cap since it's not necessary. It just comes with the hub parts and the sensor carrier (while the Creo SL one comes without the sensor carrier). It's all written down at test.planet3.bike/installation-instructions/

  • @mikesl1573
    @mikesl1573 Před 3 lety

    I have a question. I notice in your presentation of another Specialized Turbo you offered the option of 2 magnets to increase the recorded speed. Is this possible on the Creo and if so will it limited the max speed with assistance to 31 mph. This would not be a problem for me. Would there be any other issues

    • @planet3bike
      @planet3bike  Před 3 lety

      This is correct, and for each PLANET3 on the webshop there's an option for "Dual" planet configuration. In some cases, dual is mandatory and there's no single planet option (for Giant bikes, for example). The ratio is halved and the speed limit is 1,5x whatever the regional limit is (instead of ~3x). However, Creo being such a "fast" bike, usually going over 1,5x the speed limit doesn't really pose a problem and you are still what determines your speed at the end of the day, so if you don't want to go faster - use an easier mode of assistance or turn the bike off. That's why it ships is a single planet config by default, but there are users who order dual.

    • @mikesl1573
      @mikesl1573 Před 3 lety

      @@planet3bike thank you. The reason I ask is that I am a bit concerned that if my average speed is 15mph that is recorded as 5 on my app which I assume my Spez dealer will have access to, so I guess it follows that with 2 magnets my average speed would register at 7.5mph which even though still slow is more believable
      I have smaller wheel size dialled in which gave about 17 mph so with 2 magnets the bike would still receive assistance up to app 26mph which is still a whole lot better than 15.5/17.5
      How much does an extra magnet cost? 🙏

    • @planet3bike
      @planet3bike  Před 3 lety +1

      @@mikesl1573 I understand, but they don't really check or care - even if they did, there are multiple plausible explanations for a lower average speed such as: you use the assistance to climb steep sections of road, then you turn the bike completely off once it levels off and especially when you're going downhill. You tow a mate, push your wife on her acoustic bike etc. It's never been even a consideration with any Specialized bike and/or shop in several thousand units. One time it was mentioned to a Giant customer but he was prepared with the "yeah, I turn it off going down". :) In any case, if you want a 1,5:1 ratio to be more at ease - it's perfectly OK. When you're at test.planet3.bike/shop/ just click Dual under configuration and it goes up 10 EUR (for the extra planet with magnet and two external position-checking magnets used to verify the correct 180° phase once you cover the device with the ring gear) and it'll be sent as dual.

    I have creo comp bike, so I have to replace the hub end cap but I can't pull it off to replace it with the other. I tried it with many tools but it stays on its place.. It's like the end cap is not a piece apart. Can this be true?

    • @planet3bike
      @planet3bike  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Jurgen, can you send me an image taken through the end cap via email? If you can see a HEX 12 pattern cut into the inside axle along with a little hole on the side, then it's the hub type that's correct (CL-148S) but if it looks like the one in this video at 6:45 timecode, then it's the stupid cheap hub from the Vado SL which you might've gotten because Specialized ran out of the "better one". In any case, if you can take off the drive side end cap (the one where the cassette is) - then you have this hub (the wrong one). But also, sometimes the o-ring is very seized on there if it wasn't lubed properly and might be difficult to take off.. but if you wrapped some old inner tube around the end cap, and used pliers.. that's more than enough force to pull it off.

    • @planet3bike
      @planet3bike  Před 3 lety

      Hi Charlie, well.. I'm not the qualified person to provide Levociraptor support in terms of technology, but Levociraptor doesn't work on the SL bikes (Mahle motor) and you probably wouldn't be able to plug it in anyway since the connectors are different. Hopefully you've got their MAHLE motor dongle that connects directly to the motor, and if you have - then there's no activation. It'll halve the speed the bike is doing and thus provide you with assistance over the speed limit. Just as any other method of derestriction (including the PLANET3), it will not increase motor power in any way, the motor will simply not cut out power when you get beyond the speed limit.

      Unfortunately, yes. However, if one is using any other external device such as Garmin, there's an easy fix: in the device you just set the wheel circumference to 3,03x larger size and then everything reads accurately using the wheel speed sensor. Strava can obviously also use GPS and not the wheel speed sensor, for a bike like Creo which isn't a mountain bike and doesn't really experience wheel lockups, GPS might be a good option.

    Why don’t you use a stronger magnet

    • @planet3bike
      @planet3bike  Před 3 lety +1

      The size of the magnet is largely dictated by the space constraints of the frame and the rest of the device. It simply can't be as thick as the original, and it doesn't have to be. It has to be just strong enough to reliably trigger the reed switch in the speed sensor. If the magnet is stronger, the wear is increased, the device more audible or potentially doesn't fit. :) It's all as it needs to be.
