Think my E-bike checklist questions would be....
1) Motor size
2) Battery/controller size=V x Ah
3) Riding habits=Terrain, throttle/pedal
4) Rider weight
IF had known More about these factors b4 first purchase, Would I have been better off?...Maybe/Possibly. You can drive yourself Nutty w/...Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda, What ifs, etc., etc...That's where First hand knowledge/experience comes in. Not everybody has the same Wants/Needs, which makes for divergent answers/opinions. Stay Safe, Ride Safer, Mark!...Aloha from Hawaii
I had to laugh because it's almost always the same; cost, speed, range. Sometimes they only ask about the range, and a few people had the impression an average e-bike could only go about 10 or 15 miles.
I’d bump the bottom range of the price down a bit. You’re something of a speed enthusiast, if somebody wanted something like a regular bike, but lightly electrified, there are plenty of decent choices around $700-$1,000, maybe even a little less depending on sales. If you want a bigger, faster, fat tire bike, then your advice kicks in. You also have to keep in mind when talking old bike prices that if that was 1975 dollars that $200 would be more like $1,200 today. Even regular bikes can be very expensive if you are way into road racing or downhill mountain biking, but for a normal consumer bike, $1,200 would get you a pretty nice bike.
Good comments.
Great job...yes...I get asked the same exact questions.....
Oh.. Congratulations on hitting over 1,000,000 views. Must have been not to long ago. Nice ,👍🎈🎈
Thanks. I think 3 or 4 days ago I got the achievement notice from youtube.
Nice video. Yes, similar questions here
Good vid Mark, spot on. For the money, under $1500 would get you this badass Cruiser with some upgrades, including an external second battery and discharge balancer
Oops!...4Got about $$$$ available=Disposable income?!-lol
I'm thinking about what kind of bike we need for only occasionally riding. No commuting or mountains and trails. A person with a family or single that has bills and rent or mortgage.. A car payment. So how much do we want to spend on a luxury bike? It is a luxury spending over $500 for a bicycle as far as I'm concerned. At $2,000 the bike is $10 per ride for 200 rides. 200 rides could be 3 years worth for many busy people.
So many bikes out there, setting a budget and going from there is what I'd say.
in a E-bike can it clime steep hills and have miles on batterie i think is the main question everything els is pointless like how fast if you enjoy your ride 10 mph is fast it quicker then walking or taking publice transport and you can go almost any where you want you pay for the class you need in a E-bike
you paying for battries not the bike BUT that is just me
Some folks are in flat area but distance and hill climb I agree.
Are you going to put a higher output controler on the Cafe Cruiser?
Nah, I'm ok with the bike as is. In group rides I won't ride away from everyone.
Under 5k you won't get a proper EV, only toys
Very few people are willing to pay $5,000 on an E-Bike. I wouldn't pay that much on an E-Bike. I will buy an actual motorcycle way before I spend $5,000 on an E-Bike. My Monday Motorbikes V3 ANZA 750S is perfectly fine for urban commuting, and it cost $2,000.
@nicod974 - I'm curious now. Can you give some examples of good e-bikes above the 5k mark?
