  • Welcome to my channel, where I delve into the exciting world of sublimation and uncover unique hacks to enhance your printing experience. In this video, I discuss a remarkable technique known as the "Direct-to-Film Hack," which allows you to achieve stunning sublimated prints with ease. Join me as we explore the differences between using fine powder and medium powder in this process, unlocking new possibilities for your sublimation endeavors.
Sublimation is a printing method that converts solid dye particles into a gas through heat and pressure, embedding them directly into the fabric or substrate. The Direct-to-Film Hack takes this process a step further by bypassing the traditional transfer paper, enabling you to print directly onto a film substrate for ultimate customization onto cotton materials.
In this tutorial, I demonstrate two variations using different powder sizes: fine powder and medium powder. Fine powder, characterized by its smaller particle size, offers more detailed and precise prints. This makes it an excellent choice for intricate designs, small text, or images with fine lines. The fine powder ensures optimal color saturation and sharpness, resulting in high-quality, vibrant prints.
On the other hand, medium powder, with its slightly larger particle size, allows for faster ink absorption and greater ink coverage. This makes it ideal for larger designs, bold graphics, or backgrounds that require a solid and even color distribution. The medium powder provides a balance between speed and visual impact, ensuring efficient printing while maintaining excellent print quality.
Throughout the video, we'll guide you through the step-by-step process for the Direct-to-Film Hack. We'll cover essential aspects such as adjusting ink density, ensuring proper heat and pressure settings, and comparing powder size based on your design requirements.
Join us on this sublimation journey and discover how the Direct-to-Film Hack, coupled with the choice of fine powder or medium powder, can revolutionize your sublimation printing.

Hello…just found your channel and I love how you deliver your content. You don’t speak super fast, your instructions are clear, you show what you are doing step by step, and you explain why you are doing it, and you don’t swamp the viewer with an overload of information. As a teacher of over 20yrs and new to all things sublimation/heat press etc I think you have got your delivery just right!I do have a question - I would like to know when comparing the fine and medium powders was there a difference in touch or visually in the finished item and do you have a preference? I am about to purchase DTF transfer powder. Thank you.

Firstly, Thank you for your kind words. A looong time ago I use to be a trainer, teaching technology to non technology people. I've found you have to offer small bites of info at a time.
As for the powder,....personally, I did not notice a big difference. As per my research, the fine powder is for fine detailed images. The medium is for more solid images.
