    In this video I've use GLITTER DTF film with sublimation. I absolutely love this product! I've never been a fan of sublimating onto glitter HTV. I can't stand the feel. But it's all changed now!
    Also, check out the sublimation versus inkjet section. Inkjet probably won't be my go-to, but it works in a pinch or for decorators that don't have a sublimation printer. I can see this being useful to Cricut users.

    How does black color reacts on the sub print on DTF, I tried but it spread out, maybe I missed something l. Thanks

    • @stacyodesigns
      @stacyodesigns  Před rokem

      Do you mean when you printed black is smeared? A common issue is laying down too much ink. Unlike sublimation paper, DTF film does not absorb the ink. The ink lays on top. If too much ink is laid down at once, you could get smudging from the rollers and printhead.

    So I just got a sub printer *haven't set up yet* and inkjet printer. I am going to try and start making my own things. I am curious what's the difference on the dtf versus sublimation print?

    • @stacyodesigns
      @stacyodesigns  Před rokem

      Well, true DTF uses a printer with white ink. Sublimation printing does not have white ink. So true DTF can be pressed onto ANY color material. The sublimation DTF hack, still has the same sublimation COLOR rules (white or light), but can be pressed onto cotton.

    • @stacyodesigns
      @stacyodesigns  Před rokem +1

      This seems to be an issue for a lot of people. When printing sublimation, you want a good amount of ink on the paper, as the paper absorbs it. But with the film, the ink is laid on TOP. Try dropping your print setting down to plain paper and decreasing the Density in the custom printing options.

    • @stacyodesigns
      @stacyodesigns  Před rokem +1

      This is a common issue. Here are some options:
      1. You could remove the rollers completely. I have seen many people take them out - I have not. I feel they play too much of a roll in guiding the paper.
      2. decrease the amount of ink laid down. Do this my decreasing the density.
      3. You can also change the paper setting. I WAS using premium presentation matte. Now I use high quality plain paper. Made a big difference.
      4. Make sure you clean the rollers every once in a while.
      I hope this helps.

    • @stacyodesigns

      The DTF film itself is glittered. So the comparison is glitter DTF film vs. regular DTF film. I have not heard of another type called shimmer.

    Can you use this same process on a black shirt and if not can you do a video with a black t shirt ty

    • @stacyodesigns
      @stacyodesigns  Před 2 měsíci

      This process does not work on black fabric. It basically has all of the same properties as traditional sublimation, except you can press onto a higher cotton count shirt. So no need for high polyester count. But still must be white/light and doesn't print white ink.

    I love you video comparing the two hacks. I have been using the DTF film with my Sawgrass SG 500 sublimation printer the first time I made 10 shirts with no problem , when trying it again I got smeared ink on the DTF film. Do you have or have you discovered a fix for this ?

    • @that.fablife
      @that.fablife Před rokem +4

      I watched another video by The Sublimation Life and whenever she was printing onto DTF she said to change the paper to Photo Glossy. The reason she said is because it's not regular sublimation paper which absorbs a lot of ink. With DTF it sits on top and it puts too much ink and has a tendency to smear.

    Hi I have the Eason 15000 and it has plain paper it doesn’t have ‘light paper’. These is also other types of paper on there too bight plain paper is what I think would be light paper. Also I noticed you are putting the film thru without putting a paper taped to the film to “trick” the printer. And last question, i saw that you don’t cover the film when you press. I have always been worried the pressing side of the film would melt. Seems fine when you pressed. Thank you for the video. New subscriber here.

      As I am replying to this, I have found the best setting for this hack is 'glossy'. It lays the ink on top of the film. Less smudging.
      Lot's of times I do not need a backing sheet for the film....sometimes I do. It depends on the mood of my printer sometimes. ;)
      The film is actually the backing sheet to the print. But, I also have a tephlon sheet attached to my top platen.
