Following Nottingham Forest's suggestion that VAR Stuart Atwell is a Luton fan, Sky Sports News reporter Rob Dorsett explains how the PGMOL appoint officials to matches.
Forest accused Attwell, the VAR for their acrimonious 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park, of being a Luton fan after a series of appeals for penalties by the away side were turned down.
Forest were waved away on three separate occasions by match referee Anthony Taylor with the on-field decisions endorsed by Attwell in the VAR hub.

This is what the media should be concentrating on, look at the league table for teams screwed by VAR, Liverpool are the worst hit, Arsenal have been hit badly too, City have benefited however. Their owners are from Abu Dhabi, part of the UAE, where Oliver was paid to referee in a league owned by City's owners. Now, no one is saying he's corrupt (even if the facts make it look that way) but that's a conflict of interest that shouldn't be allowed to happen. Corruption happens in places it's allowed to happen. Remember when Colina had to retire from reffing because he did an advert for the sponsors on Milan's shirt? That was in Italy, home of football corruption and even they wouldn't let that fly

They didn't voice their concerns, they crossed the line by insinuating that an official was bias. Voicing their concern would have been making a formal statement that they did not agree with some of the decisions in the game and asking for some sort of review or reform. Targeting an individual official was childish and hugely unprofessional. A draw would have been the best result for Luton anyway, so not only was this accusation wrong, it was also illogical.

The fact that an ex-official has indirectly accused the PGMOL of biased decisions is quite damning. It suggests that decisions really do get influenced by a refs feelings towards a particular team. This season has been especially bad. Before VAR, refs had an excuse, but now they simply don't. The decisions have been especially egregious to the point you have to question the PGMOL of misconduct

"And in actual fact Stuart Atwell has a fantastic record as a VAR official" Is Rob Dorsett actually serious?! What an absolute joke. I've seen that clown make repeated errors on VAR on numerous occasions just THIS season alone, never mind previous years. The only people involved in the game that can make huge errors & go home knowing they won't face any sort of punishment is match officials because we're not supposed to hurt their precious little feelings. Managers, coaches, players, even backroom staff will face some level of scrutiny if they don't perform to a certain standard but these refs can go around doing whatever they want & will have Sky & all these other broadcasters together with their puppets rushing to their defence. I don't even support any one of the teams involved in yesterday's games within the relegation scrap but it's an embarassment what happened. It's supposedly the "Best league" in the world & has some of the worst referees in the top leagues in Europe.

Too much looking to explain/excuse mistakes rather than putting thing's in place making sure the same errors don't happen again.
But I don't think they are corrupt and don't support statements making that accusation.
Forest's owner trying to influence which referee's take charge of their matches is crossing a line.
Club's should have no say over who referee's their games - it would be a cheats charter.
I support reform to improve referee standards.

How many complaints or tweets have Forest made about mistakes they’ve benefited from? You can’t just throw your toys out of your pram when it’s you, if you have a serious issue it should be across the board, it’s unprofessional behaviour, and the owner is just a petulant child used to getting his own way

Mate, this is hundreds of millions of pounds worth of money we are talking about.
PGMOL is rotten;they do not want to improve standards (the first step would be acknowledging that the standards are in the toilet). The genius who forgot to draw lines for offside last season during Brentford v Arsenal is doing training for the current batch of refs. Mike Dean called the entire shambles of officiating during Spurs v Liverpool as “good process”, this is after they royally screwed up.
Just look at the number of referees that are from Manchester and compare it to the number from London. London with more population has basically zero referees. Surprise surprise those at the top are from Manchester.
If PGMOL will not improve with politeness, it is time for politeness to leave the arena. Let’s be clear here - PGMOL and Webb have complete ownership for this shitshow.
However, Sky consistently bends over backwards appeasing PGMOL.

Even if you insinuate that the official was bias (which is already crossing the line massively), why would a Luton fan specifically choose to make VAR decisions against Forest. Because the best result for Luton would have been a draw, as it keeps both Everton and Forest within touching distance. Now, with the 5 point gap its just Luton and Forest. Forest's reaction was unprofessional, childish, and darn right disrespectful. They will be lucky to get away with some sort of fine for this. With this coming just before their FFP appeal, and the fact they got their deduction reduced for collaborating (appealing is not really collaborating), they will be lucky if their points deduction doesn't get increased from 4 to 5 or 6 points.
