  • We install OE style fender flares from TRDSparks.com on our 2008 Toyota Tundra and show you the full installation process. These flares give the Tundra and extra inch of tire coverage, which was exactly what our truck needed with the 18x9 +0 offset Volk Racing TE37 wheels and 285 wide Toyo Open Country AT-II Xtreme tires.

    Those flares with the wheel combo make the tundra look awesome! Tacoma styling with a bigger, and arguably more purposeful truck. Tundra is now on my list for a daily truck (when the time comes)

    I really enjoyed the video. My 2008 Tundra came with flares. Came with a Southeast Toyota XSP package. I watched the video because I took the flares off for a while. Now, I am having issues putting them back. On your video, you talk about how the clips install, but it was hard to visualize. I would have loved to see you shoot that from underneath so we could see how they grab on. The clip does not seem long enough to reach under the liner or does the clip actually grab the inner lip on the fender itself. Found some instructions online but they are terrible. Dont show how the clips grab the fender and stay on.

  • @jeufuyang6261
    @jeufuyang6261 Před 6 měsíci

    Are the clips going onto the fender or fender liner? Looks like it’s facing towards the fender liner

  • @ghettoflyer
    @ghettoflyer Před 7 lety

    With all due respect guys, people usually put the mud guards on top of the fender flares (not the other way around). Other wise the mud guards aren't really protecting your paint from rock chips, and you create a pocket to collect mud, snow, ice, and salt.

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  Před 7 lety +1

      That's what we thought so too but the way they are designed they fit behind the mud flaps.

    Hey guys. Just found your video. I was wondering how well the front flares are staying on? With just the few clips on the top and two bolts in the rear it looks like the front of the flare is totally snug. It even looks like it's not as tight to the body in front as it is in the rear of the flare. Comments?

      These particular flares, which was the only style Dave was interested in, can only be ordered from Toyota dealers in the South East region of the United States and TRDsparks.com had the best price and quickest delivery time on them. In terms of importing them to Canada, we have an address in Niagara Falls, NY that we ship to and then we go down and import stuff ourselves to keep brokerage/duty costs to a minimum. But if you get them to ship to your door in Canada, ask them to ship USPS if they can since the brokerage fees are lower than with UPS or FedEx.

    • @ryanlord1874
      @ryanlord1874 Před 7 lety

      A drill isn't for removing lug nuts. An impact is what you would want to use for lug nuts, any 1/2" impact electric/air should be able to do that but to be specific you would need an impact that can put out atleast 175ft/lbs reverse to pull off everything up to 1 ton trucks.

    Paint match =0 ,,,+ now the mud road salt can build up in the flares and rot the metal as you willl never get the inside clean ever again. I would suggest that you bed liner under them ,after cleaning up the fenders first properly.

      RockToTheDead The factory paint flips and pitches pretty intensely through the video, plus don't expect bumpers to match with a color like that

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  Před 7 lety +6

      It's deceptive since the light effects the colour quite a lot and the flares are rounded surface so the light bounces it off it differently than the flat surfaces. But the rear flares are a bit darker than the fenders, which isn't the painter's fault. We just gave him the OE paint code and the flares and said paint em. The quality of the paint work is excellent.
