Orem Utah Temple Groundbreaking

- A small group of leaders and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered in the north-central Utah community of Orem on the morning of Saturday, September 5, 2020, to break ground for the Orem Utah Temple. The crowd size was limited in size due to local COVID-19 restrictions.
Watching from the Middle East, as an Orem native this makes my heart jump for joy. In Portuguese this temple will be known as "The Prayer" Temple. OREM in Portuguese is the conjugation of the verb ORAR so the phrase in English "The members pray for peace". in Portuguese would read. "Os membros orem por paz". I know the work done in the temples is designed to bless our lives as much if not more than those who's work we do in proxy. I love to see the temple and I'll go inside someday soon. Can't wait to get home and feel the blessings again. Much love.

Very wonderful! Thank you to all the people that participated at the groundbreaking this last Saturday, September 5! My son and daughter-in-law and two grandchildren live in Vineyard, north of where the temple is going to be as far as I know… I am so looking forward to this for them! As they are a younger family, etc.

@@kobidog4432 You have been indoctrinated by your lds public relations. Yes the church does give to charity but its not the biggest. It could be if it was much more generous with its cash and resources.

The Temples in Africa are much smaller and less Grand than in the USA.
The work that goes on in them noless vital
So why in Utah is such a large and grand temple to be built?
It will be a symbol of beauty but also a symbol of wealth and extravagance!
Yes you may say it will draw people to it in admiration
But that is exactly what happened to the city of Rome at the time of the apostle Paul and around the time of Jesus!
Well it's cheaper to build temple where the church present is stronger and the laws of the land are much easier to understand.

Smaller Temples have been and are being built across the USA also, but they are no less beautiful or grand, and the work that happens there is the same. If you haven't been there then you may not know that nearly all of the African Temples are absolutely beautiful and reflect the local cultures and their architecture styles - the only exception I've found is the new Congo Temple-and speed of getting the Temple built there trumped architectural details for reasons you are not aware of but, still, they stayed true to the architectural style in the area. It's not an opulent area and opulence would definitely be out of place there. Despite this, the grounds surrounding the Congo Temple are gorgeous with much attention to beauty and detail. That said, the most forlorn Temple I've seen yet is the relatively small Tucson, Arizona Temple. Tusconians love it, of course, but to me, hands down, it's not my idea at all of beautiful or serene, and certainly not 'opulent', IMO. I'm glad it's in a league of its own and hope no others are patterned after it. But, it may very well be more to your liking.
