Hey there everyone!
I have been racing to get this out for you all as I know it's been a release that many of use have been patiently waiting for! Yes, it's the Watchdives WD1861 Speedmaster Homage.
The watch comes in two colours, the Snoopy black & white dial & then the OG Black Moon watch. Either watch can be purchased on a Speedy style bracelet, or, a thick canvas strap.
The watch has a sapphire bubble crystal with anti-reflective coating & a stainless steel case with a polished & brushed finish. The white dial version has applied black indices with end tips coated in BGW9 Lume. The Black dial version has a matte black printed dial & is the stronger in low light situations due to the more liberal application of lume.
Inside the watch we have a Seiko VK series mecha-quartz movement which provides a mechanical feel to the chronograph hand. The subdials feature 24 hr time indication, a running seconds hand and a 60 minute timer.
Case dimensions are as follows: 40mm diameter, 44mm including the crown, 47.4 mm top to bottom lug & 13.8mm thickness.
The stainless steel bracelet is a 5 piece construction, tapering from 20mm down to 16mm solid to the signed clasp. Solid end links round out what is a good quality clasp overall.
Overall, this has to be the most accurate homage to the Omega Speedmaster, mainly due to the correct style depressed subdials, decent lume & for the black dial version, a matte dial that is similar to the original Omega Speedmaster.
Great work from Watchdives on producing what I am sure will be a sure fire hit release!
Note, V2 with the smaller profile case will be a few months away, this V1 version is close to being sold at cost so get in while you can!

I would like to see some red markings on the white dial. Currently it is too black and white. I think it would improve the style a whole lot.

I have an original Moonwatch & a Reduced Speedy, a few Pagani Speedys and now, a Watchdives White Speedy. I love them all.
I would love to know how the bracelet on the omega fits the watchdives, It fits the p d but protrudes from the end link a bit
There have been thousands of submariner homages (both clomages, if you desire that term, and homages) but there's been much fewer speed master homages until recently to me it seems

I think what bugs me most is the Pagani had the answer to the case design. It’s like they spent so much time on this dial they forgot about the rest of the watch even though the design was right in front of them.
This watch is brilliant. Thanks for the great review. I like the new intro. I always said if PD could offer better lume and bracelet/clasp, I’d be willing to pay more. Not only does this watch offer both, the introductory price matches the PD price. Thanks again!
It would be extremely helpful if you made a video swapping out the bracelets on the p d and the watch dives. The uncle seiko bracelet fit the pd but protruded from end links a bit
I wish there will be a better Snoopy and CK2998 homages coming out.
A Rolex style caseback with a quartz movemen? Thats not very convenient come battery change time.

Until Sam Martin or Baltany do a Speedy, this is as good as it gets.
I got mine for $100.00, for the price point, it's excellent. Closer to the real Speedy than the PD one.
True, the case is thicker, but I think it looks better, and it sinks right into the wrist. 😊👍
I do have pd moons watch but ordered this one as soon as I saw. This is much better than pd, and worth the extra bucks, the key factors to this watch is the dial, crystal, how its integrated also AR coating, sub dials layout, and the bezel. This is long time waited homage. For me personally also the branding is way better than PD. And as it is for the case also like this one more than PD.
If only they had the pd-1701 mid case.
There will Be a v2 for sure. Will hold out for that

Oh man i like both dials i cant pick one over the other when I'm thinking about strap options.. i would definitely get either on a bracelet but after that...

What PD1701 are you comparing this to? I am looking at my version 4 with a Matt black dial and dished sub dials , the clasp on the bracelet is virtually the same although it doesn’t taper. It too, has the VK63 movement and is the correct diameter at 42 unlike the Watchdive at 40mm.
I’ll agree, the lume is not good, but for 80 bucks it’s half the price of the WD.
It looks great no doubt. But it's bit too expensive for vk63 movement. If it was automatic chronograph movement would be ok...like Phylida for example.
The best Speedmaster Homage is Phylida with automatic movement ST1901 and Saphir crystal glass of course but nobody talk about it ! It costs above 200$CA. Pagani is ok too with vk63.
Would love to see a date version. Also, the 24h subdial of the VK is utterly useless and pointless.
This is not the Speedy I've been waiting for, Pagani is still the best and I love mine. Can't beat the price value. I also hate the Rolex caseback on that WD. Why didn't they give it a standard caseback? It also looks way to blocky or chunky. The white version does look nice though.
How does the thickness compare to the Omega or Pagani as both seem to have thinner cases and not sure why Watchdives could not do the same
The case is thicker but overall thickness is smaller I am told...having owned all of them at one point or another, I don't feel there is a huge difference... certainly nothing that I noticed anyway.

The reports of the chrono hand bending on reset are strange - wonder if they originate from PD?!
The VK quartz snap back when reset is brutal on cheap materials….
It can and does happen. See example in this review where this particular watch uses a much thinner chrono hand.

The value for money of pagani is unbeatable, the movement is the same, the price is half with discounts...

PD 1701 still the best relation cost/benefit. Half price then watchdives
Until you see the difference in bracelet quality dial quality the correct sub dials and the correct tachymeter. Seeing this Pagani should sell for 50$. Otherwise this watchdives is mopping the floor with the 1701
If this was 42mm case then I would be ALL OVER IT. 40mm is not right for a speedy homage, the real thing is 42mm and it's one of the things PD got right. Other than that this watch is absolutely on-point, so that's a massive shame.
Pagani design speedy is also 40mm. Only the original Speedy is 42mm.

@@ShogunTen42mm is accurate to the Omega Speedmaster. And you can't just straight up say 42mm is too big, it depends on wrist size. I have some 44mm Casio's (including a Duro) and they fit me great. I can just about get away with 41mm Submariner size, but for me 40mm would look too small.

This should be automatic for higher price
Even the original isn't automatic... Price would be$300+ and the movement isn't so known or tested

The 1701 is decent but falls short of the speedy look...I guess it's a true homage in that regard. The mid case and the price are appealing..... That's about it. Watchdives got the speedy look, especially from a couple feet away
Everything is almost the same, Pagani case is thinner and so is the price

Analog quartz without EOL is crap.
Could you put a Hesalite crystal on this?
Not sure Will... If you can find one that's the right size then maybe!
