Yup, i reckon once people started wanting achievements, we found out via message that "Turning on cheat codes, will disable achievements" and mostly anyone would just say "nevermind then" so it got kinda pointless for developers to even put cheat codes in games anymore, sad but guaranteed truth

My favorite cheat codes were for Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis. This is definitely the "help me mommy" category, but tbh without them it takes way too long to build a battalion of T-Rexes and Velociraptors to set loose onto your guests.

Hackers who use aimbots should be displayed on screen so you can kill them easily and wall hack users should get stuck at random and basically lose instantly.
I think the first thing would be insufficient as the hackers could still aimbot you. I would rather make their ammo drop to zero or something. And yes I just replied to an 1 year old comment.

@@theoneheadman I think the best method is what valve does with trust factor and it just puts all the cheaters together. It is much harder for cheaters to make good cheats if they dont know what is getting detected.

One of my most memorable easter eggs was something pretty innocuous. Before GTA 3 when there wasn't much on offer in terms of free roam driving games, I used to drive around in free roam mode on Driver 2, in my mind pretending to do things like go shopping or deliver pizzas. At one point I pretended to go watch a baseball game at the stadium in the north of the Chicago map. I went up to the ticket booths outside, pretended I was buying (including pressing x), and I inadvertently discovered a switch on one of the booths that opened the gate into the stadium, that lead you inside to discover a secret car. It was amazing.

I personally loved unlocking all the cheats in the old PS2 Rachet and Clank games.
Of course the way they handled them was a bit off of the norm.
Instead of them being unlocked by secret codes input at just the right timing or by beating the game and new game plus-ing it you earned them through what was called “Skill points”.
What skill points were was basically a list of hidden trials, challenges, and objectives that were never deliberately told to the player.
The most the games ever told you about them was a cryptic one sentence hint.
...And these skill point challenges ranged anywhere from reaching a hidden area of the map you previously thought inaccessible to only beat this specific level with your melee wrench to you gotta switch your weapons every five seconds while on this stage.
And earning them felt really fucking good because it was like the game was rewarding you with these awesome cheats for investing your time and brain energy juice into solving these riddles in every stage.
The point I’m trying to make is, I like it when games have cheats that make you work to get them. I know it seems kinda redundant since most people see cheats as a “mommy help me I need my easy cheat milk and cookies”, but I would prefer it if instead of being able to get cheats in a game whenever you want you instead have to prove yourself to the game, you have to prove you want it bad enough, you have to earn it, and then you can do whatever the hell you want when you want.
And you know what else this fixes it fixes the issue where achievements get disabled if you enter a cheatcode. They so this because they wamt you to earn these achievements fair and square well you know what the challenges to unlock those cheats can also unlock achievements. You beat this level while switching your weapon every 5 seconds? Boom heres a cheat and an achievement

I remember playing Black Flag, and getting a notification that I had unlocked a cheat that makes it always night time. Or a cheat that makes my pirate crew all skeletons. Naturally, those both sounded rad so I went to turn them on, hoping to progress the rest of the game with both cheats active.
When you activate either of those cheats, you can no longer save any of your progress for the rest of the session. Because of *trophies*. I have yet to meet one person who actually gives a single shit about trophies, yet their inclusion in most games means the removal of cheats. What an awful fucking trade. Hours of fun gone in exchange for the ability to collect a bunch of digital trophies that nobody will ever look at.
CozyBones Paradox Onteractive has “ironman” mode, where you cannot use the console/mods, and it automatically saves everything you do.

CozyBones Well, I think it depends on the type of game and how it’s formatted when it comes to achievements and the like. In a halo game for instance, you can change the difficulty to easy for a level, but if you need an achievement that requires you playing it at a higher level, than you can just start the level over. I think it’s more complicated when it comes to sandbox games, but they could just not allow achievements to be unlocked while cheats are active.

That's different, cheats in HOI4 are straight up cheats that just help you out. Not goofy funtime cheats, Ironman is a challenge mode without the assistance of them. And you can still use Ironman compatible mods (mostly cosmetic). @@nathankincaid9814
