I like these videos because,the suv.s are mostly stock it’s interesting to see how they perform.

XUV 500 and Duster though good by crossover standards, are still not match for true blue chassis based 4x4's. AWD Lock function in XUV(and Duster) locks the AWD system to 50:50 power split, however with speed it starts to disengage partially and then completely.
The problem with all these crossovers, Duster, XUV, Compass is they have road biased car like independent suspension all round, while this system does wonders for on road performance, off the road Articulation and wheel travel are the weaknesses. To make the matters worse the open differentials, give up on slightest uneven ground. Yes these cars come with fancy electronics, like XUV has basic traction control while Duster also gets Active traction control(also known as brake traction control, Jeep calls this BLD), Compass's system is little more advanced which includes terrain modes.....but these electronics simply cannot make up for lacking hardware.
Northern Overlanders is our private offroad group. Enthusiasts with interesting 4x4's are always welcome to join, but there is a limit on how many cars we can accommodate for an outing, and what kind of people and cars we would like to add, so the form helps us filter the new guys. We have met some awesome people through CZcams.
Duster needs some front bumper modds.

Down the slippery slope but not many up the slippery slope . The poor fellow with the Duster broke his bumper , rip it off and get an after market bull bar , if they make one for a Duster . Must have been very hot , hats , scarfs and umbrella's the order of the day :-)
Saransh is considering custom bumper for duster, atleast the lower part. Yes, Sun was harsh.

Hey Anshuman I really love your videos and I am a big fan of off-roading I have a Skoda Yeti but I don’t try these types of trails because I feel the ground clearance of my car is a little too less. What do you feel...?
Hi Mohak, I am glad you like the videos. Your observation on Yeti is correct, although it comes with a capable AWD system but Ground clearance is too low for such stuff. I posted an offroading video few weeks back, it has Yeti in it.

That’s some good stuff to watch.. real off-roading.. Question: You think new endy 3.2 L with TMS would do good on such surface? Is there any advantage of TMS on such turf? Thoughts please...
TMS has no such advantage for this terrain, rear diff lock surely helps it a lot.
TMS modes are more about making the car easier to drive on a terrain than giving the car some real ability. TMS modes are more about altering Throttle, gearbox, traction control response, it does make the driver a lot more comfortable to tackle the terrain.

Endy is good for such terrain. Imagine Arjun was driving the car offroad for the first time, Imagine what this car will do with experienced drivers.

The suspension was "clicking" when driving though those deep ruts .

Hey Anshuman, Is it safe to buy a used Toyota fortuner with over 1 lakh kilometres done on it?
Yes, it is safe if the car is well maintained and all the periodic maintenance and replacements are done on time. By 1 lakh kms, Suspension and Clutch would be busted so it will be a good idea to check if they were replaced.

car craze can look at Duster AWD. Has decent off-road capabilities and is good to drive on road, comfortable for a family of 4-5
V Cross is good but check if your family like the rear seat. Storme is also good but I dont like the road manners. Jeep Compass is good but you wont get AWD variant your budget. New Renault Captur/Kaptur is coming next month if you dont like the Duster AWD. Also check out XUV-500 AWD and Hexa AWD. All have their strengths and weaknesses.

Hey anshuman , i wanna ask which gear you use in automatic fortuner when u climb up or go down. D gear or L gear ...
and when we go to hillstations which gear we should use ...??
Driving in Hillstations use the regular D mode, if feel the gearbox is upshifting unnecessarily you can limit the top gear to used by L modes, same goes for downhil driving, if you feel the car should not go beyond a certain gear you can lock the highest gear using L modes. I am talking about L modes on Fortuner's gearbox and not the Lowrange on 4x4 selector.
