Hey Mat, where do you price these planter boxes at? I bought this plan a while ago but did have the time to build it until now.
Matt, thank you for your channel, I have a small woodworking side business and have been watching woodworking videos for years. I think your channel is the best. You never pull out a festool domino jointer, you don’t use quarter sawn walnut and there is no C&C machine. You are the common man’s inspiration. You video are always well done and I always learn something or get inspired to build my own version of your projects. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much. I try to build projects that anyone can do with common tools. We must keep this trade alive!
This!
lol so true! festool domino joiner and sawn walnut.. man I feel this!
I've been watching your videos for a while now just trying to get ideas to help grow my business. Sadly my full time job takes up 75% of my time. My wife lost her job about a week or so ago and hoping to keep us afloat till she can find another job is what I'm hoping to do. But this build is going on my front porch so I can put my strawberries, blueberries and blackberries somewhere the chickens can't get to them. Lil feathers f'ers busted thru the fence in our back yard and helped themselves to all of them last year and I need fruit to make mead and wine with. Hoping the neighbors see it and want one too. And maybe the local farmer's stand will start buying some planters, the ones they have look poorly made and I know I can make them better.
I'm a pretty decent woodworker, and I did exactly what you said. I saw the finished product and said to myself I wouldn't make this. But after you explained the structure, I am now totally on board. I think I'll make this for my church bazaar in a couple months.
Thanks for the video!
Nice! You can do it!!
@@MatthewPeechWoodworkinghere's an update... I customized one and donated it to the local PTO. They're going to raffle it off in a month. And I sent those photos to one of our largest craft fairs put on by the city. They accepted my application and I'll be in booth #2 at the very entrance of the event! I rented a 20x10 space and will have all kinds of outdoor stuff set up as a lounge. Adirondack chairs. Picnic tables. Many styles of your planters. It's going to be an amazing event.
Thanks for everything you do for this community. :)
I mean this as the utmost of compliments, you are the BOB ROSS of woodworking. I find myself in a mesmerized trance when i watch [and listen] to your videos. You have that cool/calm demeanor that Bob Ross had and I absolutely love it!
I take that as the highest compliment. Bob was the master. Thanks brother.
Absolutely agree. Just a tone that says "I love doing this and you should too". Everything is well Articulated also. It's great
I’m just gonna drop this happy little nailer board with some pocket hole screws and yea
Your videos have given me new hope for retirement! Thank you!
Love, love, love not just your projects, but the little bits of philosophical wisdom thrown in!
Thano you Matt for taking us theough another project. You are a true craftsman
Matthew, another wonderful instructional video. Thanks so much 😊
Matthew, you’ve been knocking it out of the park lately! Great videos and instructions! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills!
Mathew thank you for what you put out in your videos
Tusks for putting this out. It looks very nice and it seems easy enough to add to a portfolio of products to sell.
I am an amateur woodworker and folks dont be intimidated by these builds. Sure yours might not look as good but you learned. And learning is a huge part of woodworking. Dont be scared of new pieces of equipment, be extra safe and again learn. Use cheap wood and scraps and build stuff using your tools and...Learn. I suffer from PTSD and woodworking is a great way of helping those issues. I started with charcuterie boards and now I'm learning to work on furniture. You don't need a giant shop full of all the goodies. And lastly If you decide that woodworking is something you'll enjoy, save your pennies and get the quality made equipment. Good Karma to you Matt and everyone out there.
Always an enjoyable time watching your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice, Matthew. Such a great build. Thank you for sharing it.
I love getting these vids fresh out of the shop!
I can’t wait to build this!!! Thanks for sharing this build Matthew! 🙏🏽👊🏽
No problem. Have fun!
Super design. And yes, it does look more complicated than it turns out to be. Great job! Going to be making a couple for our new house this spring.
Looks fantastic and very doable. Thank you!
I like this build to demonstrate how to move into larger projects and increase woodwork confidence. Well done.
Thanks for the great plan Matthew! I built one from a salvaged roadside dresser. I it will make a great mother's day gift.
I'm making one now so far turning out pretty good thanks for sharing
I love this! Going to be building it this weekend. Thank you for the awesome ideas and cut list. You deserve way more subscribers, love your channel
Another great planter build. I'm currently doing an order of child size picnic tables but want to switch gears to planters for a bit soon. Can't tell you how much I look foreword to your videos. Thank you for sharing and keep em coming.
You always come up with great designs that look complicated but never are. Love watching your videos. I recommend them to everyone I talk with who loves woodworking.
Thank you for all the great ideas, my Friend! 🤙😎
Very cool easy planter box!! Another awesome idea Matt!! Everything I build are custom made to order pieces, so I don’t have plans. They pick something they like from Pinterest or wayfair or wherever, give me sizes they need and build it! Been doing it for the last 5 years full time but have been doing it since high school, mid 80’s! I’ve just got to get done with the big builds I have on order and then start doing some of these simple but very easy sellers. Love them! Keep them coming, enjoy your videos.
Another great planter build. It's a nice twist on the usual single planter
Thanks!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I can hardly wait to attempt this project.
Have fun!
Beautiful piece. Really Enjoying your videos
Thank you for your time and knowledge
Today was working in wood shop cut boards and planed them for a raised dog bowl, then cut the framing for this planter which was nice cause I got to use a lot of my scrap wood for it and then stained a Concealment Coat rack for a customer. Can't wait to get back to the shop tomorrow to continue working on these three projects.
You rock Matthew. Thank you for your videos and encouragement!
My pleasure!
Really pretty, Matthew! You do nice work!
Thanks so much!
Man I wish I had a table saw!
One of these days I will save up enough money for one, but that all has to take a back seat when you are a widowed father of 5.
I will eventually get one once my kids are a little older. I have a nice empty spot in my work shop for it just gotta wait.
Thank you so much for all the effort you put into these videos!
You help keep me and my kids busy.
I look at everything with the "I got this" attitude 💯 You don't know till you try. I love to learn new things. I might not know how to do something at first, but I'll be darned if I'm not gonna do my best to learn and conquer whatever I set out to do.
Just as you said we often talk ourselves out of things we can do....
Knowledge is gold...
But only if it's applied!
Yes 🙌🏻
I look forward to your videos, and have found myself going back and watching them again. I enjoy your style of teaching. You make things easier for me to understand. Great job!
Thank you very much!
Really cool Matt! Well done.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another great video of an approachable woodworking project for all levels. It’s one of the things that sets you apart sir. Have gained so much confidence from your channel and your projects. Appreciate you!
I love to hear this! Thanks for the support!
Oh man, I've been wanting an idea for a planter mailbox. I think I found a winner! Thanks for posting.
Great Idea!
Thanks a lot for your content im starting in woodwork im too broke for tools so im all hand tools even the saw but watching your content and seeing your work is motivating me to still go for it
I've been fooling around with boxes and stuff for a while with a bunch of inherited and craigslist-level tools. I'm going to be making a few planters and probably this multi-tiered planter here in the next few weeks to see if I can sell them! Thanks for making your vids so clear to follow.
Sure do wish there was a love button !
Thank you!
Another great project from the Bob Ross of woodworking!! Thanks for all you do.
My pleasure!
I could watch your videos all time Mathew peech sir lots information in them
Another great build and video - your fence pickets look far nicer than anything I can find locally. I can't wait to give it a go!!
I make a lot of planters but never tried this design, i'm looking forward to giving it a go. Thanks for the easy to follow guide 👍
You're very welcome!
Pocket holes are the bomb.
I watch a lot of makers. Yours is the most laid back and easiest to learn from. Love your projects and how you help others grow their business.
Thank you for the support!
Love the planters! Thanks for the very informative video!!
You are so welcome!
Man I don't know how you manage to not only come up with these killer projects, but also make entertaining videos time after time. I definitely appreciate it though, keep it up man!
Thank you!
Great stuff, I love how you keep the new material coming and the simplicity of all your projects, I discovered you a couple months before the holidays and I've probably built about 10 or 12 different projects and my situation temporary is not that great, but like you say most can be done with very basic tools, I can attest to that , I only have a drill, circular saw, jigsaw, sander and a cheap router, belt sander, oscillating sander and an ancient miter saw from the 1990's, No planer, band saw, table saw, so if anyone is intimidated by these videos of guys with fully equipped shops and all these fancy tools, don't be, they all had to start someplace, thats why I follow Mathew, he doesn't just teach you how to build something, he also share his journey and how he got to where he's at today, he basically saying, follow me, Do what I do and you'll get what I got, Thank you again brother for all you do 🔨🔨🔨🔨
Awesome Matt 🙌🏻👊👏🏼
Thank you for sharing another inspirational video. You make things so simple and easy to follow through. Continue doing what you do. Hopefully someday i can be as good as you.
You are so welcome! You’ve got this!
Built my side hustle wood shop on this exact planter... yours is much simpler than mine (lots of trial and error on my end). Mine has each section boxed in with a floor and lined with landscape fabric so soil can be added direct to the box. My builds are made from thick rough cut sawmill lumber, my customers love the rustic look it gives. Keep up the great work Matt!
You have got to keep a winning attitude!! I excelled at machinery maintenance,, so much I was promoted to Maintenance Manager within my first 2 years at a company,, I have no trade school or college in my background. Kept the attitude that ain't no machine gonna outthink me!!
Watch a lot of your videos. I'm a beginner on doing things like this I've learned a lot from watching .love your work .and enjoy watching them
Awesome, thank you!
Nice job Matt, my wife done said, like so I guess I best get busy but this is the third thing I'll make, my list grows faster than I can go 😂
Lol yea sorry about that 😂
Always great ideas and very helpful channel.
Tomorrow I am using as my very first build day. Finally some decent weather. Bought a new mitre and planer and ready to get started. I have stocked up on materials and this just made the list of things to try. Can’t wait! First time building in 20 years! Hoping one day to turn it into my full time gig as my skills progress and I get better at building everything. Thanks again for your videos. I have binged and enjoyed each one. They will help facilitate making some money to buy new tools for sure.
Great to hear you are going to start on this journey. You’ve got this!! Thank you for watching and the support.
I absolutely love your videos, the structure, confidence boosting, so very easy to listen to and watch. I just finished your 5 tier for a gift on mother's day. I think I'm going to tackle this one next. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your talent in teaching your amazing skills.❤
Nice! Keep up the good work
Another great planter! And another great video! Thanks man!
You bet!
I love this! I also think just selling different heights of singles and double planters would be a great strategy. Someone with a deck might want matching boxes in multiple places....
Great idea!
Omg I absolutely Love these planters! My husband just bought a set of your plans for the white planters!! Can't wait to get him started on making them .. 💛Great job Matt as always!!!
Thanks! Annnnd sorry hubs😬
thanks for this! i copied the cut list as a guide and got to work. i used scrap and recycled material so my measurements didn't match up, but the outcome was awesome and my wife loves it!
Love it. I’m thinking of three different, but different, marketing angles - 1-obviously flowers: 2-vegetable (tomatoes, etc: 3-herb garden.
That looks amazing.
Thanks!
Nice Matthew! All the parts, with letters to spare. Pro AF. Love your stuff brother. As always. Cheers.
Thanks for the great videos.
You just completed my weekend. Thank you so much
You are so welcome
Matt! Beautiful work…if I could just get off a few days from my job to build this! Wife would love this. I know what I am building her for her birthday now (in October!)
Going to be making this in the next week or so! Can't wait!
Have fun!
Nice job ! Wife sez she has a spot picked out so looks like a HD trip is on the radar . Great job of explaining the build . Cheers !!!
Lol thank you!
using this idea, I made the wife 2, 3 box planters for the end of our driveway. turned out pretty good and if I can figure out how to up load the pictures i will. hopefully more in our development will want them also or another variant of it. no plans other than a quick drawing to figure out the lumber i needed
You beat me to it. I've been working on a 4 pot planter box like this using your tall 5 picket fence design. Almost done but will email a few for the bragging board soon. Thought I actually had a good idea for you hahah. Love the vids
That was cool, thanks for the upload!
No problem!
That is very cool can’t wait to build this
You can do it!
👍👍👍Love it. Thank you.
Thank you Mathew! Thats really cool!!
You bet!
All of your projects are great, easy to build and affordable materials. In my area the most I can get for trellises is about $15 and about $25 for the small planters. The only way to make it worthwhile is to be efficient and think along the lines of a mass production environment. Basically about double the cost of material.
Great build and awesome video! 😁
Thank you! 😁
Sir first I want to Thank you for possibly saving my life. Let me explain. Back in the fall of 21 I had a back injury that needed surgery 10 days before surgery I had a lower leg blood clot surgery not happening till blood clots go away. Then the fall of 22 4 clots went through my heart and ended up in my lungs. I recovered and again surgery was not a option. My condition makes it hard to walk and stand for more than 5 minutes. Also my injury has stopped my ability to work, so was looking for another option. I came across your CZcams video on planter Boxes and I said to myself I can make that. So now I watch your channel all the time for tips and tricks. Also the planter Boxes are flying out of my shop faster than I can make them. By watching your videos I have a new income for me and my wife and I Truly Thank you for finding your videos. They saved me.
Thanks again
The Angry Beaver wood shop run by

I hate to hear about your recent health issues but I am so glad you have found a way to keep on keeping on. I too have severe back pain/issues that are non surgical so I can definitely sympathize with you and how tough it is just to move at times. Keep up the awesome work and thank you for your support.
Good job and project thx for sharing enjoyed it you could also add solar lights
Great idea!
Very nice build! Thank you for sharing...
Thanks for watching!
Great job. I have been making these same tiered planters for about 3 years and they sell really well.
Nice!
How much do you sell these for? I'm thinking about trying this in my area.
@@billymartin2277 I sold them for $150. It really depends on you and your market. I am sure you can sell them for more if you wanted.
Hey, I built this from just watching the video. As soon as I get a few plants to stage it properly, I'll send a pic to the brag board. I don't have a pin gun so I had to use deck screws. I also didn't use fence pickets because I had a bunch of tongue and groove flooring that was donated by a friend after his DIY project.
About the only change that I would recommend would be in the sequence. If you do the 4" pieces that go on the nailer boards first, then the outer boards will cover those edges. Minor, I know, but my OCD is flaring up 😂 I guess you have to see an edge somewhere.
Took me about 18 hours (but I take lots of breaks, lol)..
That’s awesome thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Matt! Grabbed the plans to make this, already have several friends that want one!
Awesome! Thank you!
How much are you thinking of selling them for?
@@jasonpoultry0 Not really sure yet, I'll have to make one to see how much time is involved. I'll tell you tho, for not having one to show, there's been a lot of interest by just showing the picture.
@@gregconnell6320thats awesome to hear. I decided to dive into this and am picking up a table saw tomrrow!
Great project!
Thank you!
Lol i struggle so hard with keeping the pocket hole flush when I screw them, I also had a difficult time following which needed pocket holes.. think im just going to wing it from here.
Do you have any idea how much work I gotta do this summer because of you? Lol. Another great. Thank you for teaching us how simple these are to make. Much appreciated!
Lol sorry about that!
Not a bad build. I finished the build today. Just need to put some poly on it and take some photos. I did goof a bit and put the middle 2x2 on the wrong side but just went with it. Had to cut a couple extra peices but no big deal. Hope to sell a bunch of these.
Thanks!
Thanks for supporting the channel!
I completely get what you said about the thumbnails. When I first saw a pic of the spiral Christmas tree I thought "no way". Watched the vid and couldn't believe how easy it was. Dont be put off people. 👍
Exactly!!
This looked like a beast to DIY but you made it easy enough for a newb like me to make one... Or three!
You’ve got this!
Just finished this planter and I wanted to thank you for the video. It was very easy to follow and enjoyable also. My favorite part of this build is the cost. less than 20$ to build. Thanks bro!
$20? Wow! It costs me about $48 where I live.
Maybe $20 in wood. But glue is $8, brad nails $8, screws-$15 for deck and pocket, spar urethane-$25.
❤ this!
Thanks!
Awesome project as always.👍
Text number doesn't seem to work from Canada. But that's cool, love your videos.
Thank you. Don’t ever respond to those scammers though. They are tricky and will try anything.
i started woodworking on accident.i had finished building my addition and had some small 2x4 pieces left over so i built an outdoor chair set.some one saw it and wanted one 4 years later we still have a hard time keeping up with orders.when i start a project i can see the finished project before getting started and i always just get into what im doing until its done.tks for the videos and ideas.i do buy the plans more out of respect for your time.
Nice! Thank you so much for the support.
thank you
You're welcome!
