- 10 Things Every Beginner Skateboarder Should Know How To Do Well (longest title yet, ha)
This one is aimed towards helping out beginners learn to be more comfortable on the board while trying to teach some practical things at the same time. These are all simple concepts, but they are important to being comfortable on your board. Hopefully, if you can get all of these down really well, it will help you in the future when you're trying to learn new things.
Having a strong foundation of board control and confidence is what leads to progression and continuing having fun.
Thank you for watching! :)
p.s. more 10 easy trick type videos coming soon!

Falling properly is something that a skater should definitely know how to do. I would have included it in this video but I already had 10 things so I'll make a separate video about that. ;)
VLSkate i wonder how many arms were destroyed after watching the video
VLSkate my son wants to try but can he wear safety things? and what's the perfect brand of the safety equipment?
Sometimes I fall, and I don't have time to think how to fall. It happens so fast! recently I bruise or maybe even broke some ribs!
He should wear protective gear, mainly while he is learning! I am even going to buy me a padded vest.
VLSkate when i fall it hurts a little bit but then you just go and try the trick you where trying

You should make a video of this type but for more advanced skaters
Cris CCM "More advanced skaters" shouldn't be watching youtube videos ha. If you've progressed far enough, you shouldn't be needing advice or tutorials in order to understand simple aspects of skateboarding.
Uncomfortable Shirt lmao 1000% true
Uncomfortable Shirt he’s saying make a 10 things every more advanced skaters should know
@@scottgoede7793 Haha no shit genius. What uncomfortable shirt is saying is that if you are an "advanced skater", you don't need a list telling you what you should know and that you would have already learned all that stuff on your own from experience. There comes a point when videos can't teach you any more so you have to learn and progress on your own by actually getting out and putting in the time and skating. If you are watching a video about what you should know if you are advanced, then you are not an advanced skater, it's that simple.
Erik Larson that’s not true no matter how good you are at anything you should never be so arrogant to think you have nothing to learn from someone else.
I would love to see a video that defines the line between beginner / intermediate / advanced. I always wondered more or less where the limits of each lie.
imo beginners are learning to ride and do basic tricks like ollie and shuvits. intermediates can do kickflips and powerslides and other tricks and advanced are just very good and consistent with alot of tricks
whmozart whether or not u can u more complicated tricks defines that dude
It really depends. Intermediate longboarders might do long powerslides or pump on flatground. Some intermediate skaters can heelflip and pressure flip, but can't kickflip. I'm sure some beginners have high ollies but not many other skills.
buzzfeedblue made a video titled "Non-Skaters Vs. Pro Skaters" where one person claimed he was better at 1-footed manuals than normal manuals.
Daniel Lee kickflips and powerslides is beginner shit bro Intermediate is more complicated than that
whmozart beginners can do the basics like Ollie, shuv, front shuv, Kickflip, heelflip, fs/bs 180s and other simple tricks like those. Intermediate skaters can do these moving, in variations, and use them with a purpose(for example down a stair set or into a grind). And you know an advanced skater when you see one 😂. That’s my interpretation at least.
As someone who just set foot on a skateboard a month ago, thank you! I am only just now getting comfortable with pushing, and it was really daunting at first!

OK Guys something was missed in *Pushing*( just a tip ) , for those that push really quickly and want to get a lot of speed straight away, BE CAREFUL cause if you push to much and your weight isn't on the board properly, the board will shoot left or right depending on the way you skate and trip you up before you even started and NOBODY likes eating concrete, i sure as hell don't. ( i found this out but braking a board cause it shot under a car.) so i hope this helped. #VLSkate.

I have a bit of a problem where I can only push with my right leg (making me regular) but when I stop pushing and just cruise I feel so uneasy with my back facing the left side and usually always lose balance, any advice ?
x Kehu you could either push mongo (which I don't recommend) or you can learn how to push with your other foot

Yeah my board is busted too welp I guess I’ll get used to it
Nice video. thank you. Well, I am a 47 year old ex-skateboarder who has recently retired from sportbike riding and settled into skating again for another type of adrenaline rush. The following comments are coming from a more mature viewpoint obviously and take them for what it's worth. I wish I had followed these a bit more as youngster. 1) Learn to fall. You will fall. Learning to fall correctly will not only save you from injury but it will also give you the confidence to improve as you aren't so scared of things. 2) Learn to ride your board before you try tricking. I know it seems SO boring to just work on the basics, but if you can master them before starting to trick you will progress in your tricking exponentially and probably avoid injuries as well. 3) Learn to ride switch as competently as your normal stance (probably not possible as your strong side will ALWAYS feel a bit more natural.) The beginners will have an easier time with this. The more engrained riding your normal stance, the harder this is. Yeah, you won't look as cool riding switch at least for a while, but the benefits are huge. One reason I really like it because it extends my riding sessions. Whenever I get tired riding one way, I just flip around. Trust me, you should get comfortable going both ways in any sport you choose where one side of your body can become dominant (skating, golf, etc.). When you ignore one side of your body it cause all sorts of imbalances, possible injury & other bad things. 4) Wear protective gear. If you get the right gear (I like triple 8), it doesn't look too bad and when you fall it will save your bacon. Have fun and be courteous. Another thing I have found picking up skating some 30 years since I last participated in the sport, is people still hate skaters. Be courteous out these please.
My hobby is ice skating, but I’m looking for a more summer friendly hobby so I was like “let’s look into skateboarding” and here I am... convinced I cannot ever do these things.. if my feet aren’t tied in I’d feel so insecure, but I’ll watch a bunch of tutorials before I’ll try. This video was really nice and smooth and the first one recommended so I’ll listen to everything here!
Skating is easier said than done..lol😂

I'm a complete beginner and your videos make me feel much at ease since you explain everything thoroughly. Thank you!
Watched this before skateboard came in the mail. I got on my board and didn’t realize I had no comfort just pushing and riding. Always was worried about tricks as a kid. Feel like I’ll improve so much more because of this videos.
yeah. I'm getting good at kickturns. if I perfect those I could do front side and backside pivots which can be my first trick.
Really like this video. I’ve seen it a few times, and rewatch as I knock out the different tips in here. I just started skating last November, but started getting serious and committing in March. To this day, I’ve been able to ride well overall and feel like I’ve mastered balance. I’ve actually been trying to learn switch, ride off curbs and throw down. If I can learn those before the end of 2020, I’ll feel pretty good 😇
