- Portokalopita - Greek Orange Cake with Syrup (Orange filo cake)
Ingredients for the cake 23x35cm tray:
400g of filo pie sheets
4 medium eggs
100g caster sugar
150ml vegetable oil
350g sour-cream (Greek or plain yogurt)
grated peeled from 2 large oranges (untreated or organic peel)
vanilla sugar or vanilla extratc
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 orange (for decoration)
For Syrup:
350ml water
150g caster sugar
1 cinnamon stick
juice from 2 large oranges
🔥 Baking:
- 120 degrees C (up and down without ventilation) - to dry the filo sheets for 1 hour;
- 180 degrees C (up and down without ventilation) for 40-45 minutes, the time may vary depending on the oven used;
