You can tell Harrison was having a blast playing Indy again, especially in these moments.
I've always liked this movie, it really felt like a proper continuation of his role.
Better than Dial
This feels like a real Indy moment. Teaching his successor, who catches on quick. I wish they could've stayed like this. Always liked Kingdom of The Crystal Skull even if it did get a bit weird in the end.
Yeah, I wish we had gotten a spinoff trilogy centered around Mutt taking the mantel and Indy being the wise old man like his father was before him, but after the mixed reception from the audience and Shia LaBeouf's controversial actions alas that was never meant to be.
@@sr.alligator7569They could've recast him! Take someone that resembles him and show their adventures 10-15 years after the time when the movie takes place
Every indy movie gets weird at the end that’s the whole point of Indy a man who travels across the globe looking for fortune and glory and with that comes the mystery of the unknown. For the people that complain that indy 4 had aliens and stuff need to realize what this series is all about
I love the fact that Indy is super confused about the crystal skull and is probably the first time he hold an artifact and then says "what is this thing?"
I love how mysterious this scene is. And underrated moment from an underrated movie.
Yeah it's a shame the rest of the movie is goofy. Not a good way to go out with our favorite hero.
Or the saucer.
@@josephkelly9514 all of the Indiana movies are goofy. This was the only one that retained the mystery and the charm of Raiders.
@josephkelly9514 thr first half of this film was pur Indiana Jones while the second half felt like a Saturday morning cartoon
@@thegageinator805up until the second half
This scene feel like an Indiana Jones movie.
No goofy looking effects, lovely work by John Williams, shows off how smart both characters are.
This is why I love skull, its feels very spooky and adventurous
I think people really focus on the negatives of this film (swinging on vines, cgi, weird lighting) but don’t give credit to scenes like this. An exposition dumb scene done very well. It conveys the mystery of the skull in an entertaining way and has great chemistry between Harrison Ford and Shia. I never hated this movie and I really think everyone else did because of the Star Wars prequels backlash and the negatives I mentioned earlier
I think the lighting was perfect
The gentle reprise of the theme song when he does the knife trade makes me smile.
Only for Indy to remember he’s a professional archeologist and can’t keep the knife or else he’ll be deemed a grave robber 😂
That's technically Mutt's theme. But, it's an off key version of the Indy theme since he's his son
2:13 Mutt was saying he shouldn't take belongings from the dead. He believes it's disrespect.
Smart guy. They nearly killed when some guardians thought they were grave robbers.
1:57 Mutt: what just happened
Indiana Jones: he's been wrapped up for 500 years air doesn't agree with him
I love that quote. Whoever wrote this made an awesome work. They are telling what happened in a different way.
we see more sides of mutt here. he's observant and has a respect for history.
1:44 Mutt: looks like he just died yesterday
Indiana Jones: it's the wrapping they preserved him
Me: sure SMELLS like he's been dead for over four hundred years....
*immediately ages faster than Walter Donovan*
@@jeremyallen5974 make that 500 years
If I die, I would want to be preserved in wrappings like that.
this is the best scene of the movie by far. It almost seems to belong to a different movie.
Yeah thats why the film is frustrating because there's scenes like this and the campus motorcycle chase that are very good but then theres a lot of bad scenes. So this one stands out more
@@Spongebrain97 what did you think of the new one? I liked it much more but wasnt crazy about some choices in the last act
@@CasarzinoI’d give the new movie a B+
@@SeamusMcGinn what about the others?
@@Spongebrain97first half is great second half is horrible
I never knew that Fransisco De Orellana was actually a real person
The actual Francisco de Orellana wa way more badass. He built a boat to sail down the Amazon starting at the Andes, observed the cities he saw along the way, coined the term 'Amazon' from the tribes where female warriors as well as male ones attacked his crew, arrived at the Atlantic, built a full-masted ship, and sailed back to Spain.
I hope this movie now gets more love with dial of destiny out. I never got the hate of this one.
Me too, the ones who hated skull conveniently forget similar issues with the first 3
This scene is underrated
You think indy ever believed in life beyond their solar system, and finding this Skull challenged his entire beliefs? Bewildered by its "magnetic" properties, he was absolutely mesmerized, but terrified at the same time.
This scene was my favorite from the film. It’s so simple and yet so good. 1:14 to 1:39
Would this actually happen in real life? Would a corpse fall apart like this? 1:44
Aside from this scene, (in my opinion, with nothing against anyone involved in making this film), the only other two things good about this film were: 1, we see Marion again, and 2, Mutt is her and Indy’s son. He was most likely conceived in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Indy spent the night with Marion on the boat.
Indiana Jones: Don’t Touch Anything lol 0:21
This movie copped alot of flak because of the Aliens premise being too unbelievable, I would like to point out that the previous three films involved the Ark of the Covenenant, a heart-wrenching Death Cult with mystic stones, and a cup that grants everlasting life, known as the Holy Grail. Aliens really can't be any less believeable that miraculous objects.
Aliens definitely wasn’t the problem but the way they handled the aliens was. There should’ve been more mystery and we shouldn’t have seen that goofy cgi alien in the end.
I'm excited for Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny on June 30th (2023).
I'm sorry
@@NeverSaySandwich1 I forgive you
Its masterpiece
Well..... it sucked lol
It was filmed to be reminiscent of an 1950s sci-fi B movie. Hence the lighting, as the film was set in the 50s they wanted to give it that 50s adventure flavour. Very underrated film unfortunately.
Was it ever explained why the skull was magnetic? Was it just part of the biology of the inter-dimensional beings?
I think precisely is because of that.
Yeah it’s just their weird supernatural biology.
This movie is as good as the first three ❤
Don't agree but I'll meet you half way and say it gets too much hate and is a bit underrated.
Nah but it had its moments
Maybe my favorite scene in the movie. It also has a very cool and mysterious score.
I like all the Mutt Scenes
0:20 I love the Temple of Doom Short-Round reference. Indy learned his lesson lol!
That was a reference to short round from Temple of doom.
Those Spaniards, always in the seeking for gold 😫🤔
Well, haven't you seen The Road to El Dorado?
This is favorite part
One of the few actual decent scenes in the film & right before it all completely falls apart.
This film is better than the Holy Grail. Change my mind.
It's not even that bad of a movie though 😂
@@thegageinator805 Monty Python’s Holy Grail?
@@SaberRexZealot lol. Life of Brian was the better film.
@@thegageinator805You’re crazy.
I don’t understand the hate for this movie, the claims were so bait.
The hate comes mostly from hispanic american watchers
Kylo Means Mutt in Sith.
Wow.
3:33 i used to work in landscaping with my dad and anytime there a rotted log with covered in insects or anything that smelled like absolute shit he’d reference this scene and just give it to me 😂
Mutt sure looked scared there.
I really love this movie, the popular reasons for hating it are so stupid !!!
I've not seen this film, but I was curious to see how the arrival of the central plot McGuffin would be compared to say...the Ark of the Covenant. And I must say, I feel they missed a trick with the reveal. It's all 'functional' dialogue at a time where it needs to be spooky. To establish the ominous tone and the supernatural threat the artefact poses.
They should have taken all the talking out. Having Indie and Mutt emote with close ups of their faces. Have indie unwrap the mummies, one by one, letting the score build with the wind whistling. And then finally on the last one, with ominous strings, have the back of the skull keep going in a profile shot. Until it becomes obvious that what's in his hand is a skull - and it isn't human. Not even close.
Only then do you open with the line "what...is this thing?".
As the comments on the Ark reveal said - let the soundtrack build tension, dread, make the item seem primordial and surrounded by death. That it wasn't for mortal men to be handling.
xenomorpher skull
So Orellana Hid The Skull Behind His Resting Seat All That Time? (Just Asking)
when after Dial of Destiny suddenly Crystal Skull looks good
Dial is better
@@marthastubbs8321nahh
@@marthastubbs8321 Dial is terrible. Because the bad writing and too corny. That it's nothing new and very cheesy.
The problem with this film is that there is little movement or natural lighting during these explanation scenes. Ford and LaBeouf do their best, but this is uninteresting because of how flat and routine the scene is filmed and how the cinematography is very competent, but not creating a sense of this place as an actual location.
I think logan lerman could do the job
Im. Not sure why the fans were lukewarm. It’s better than the last crusade
@barron8006 You’re crazy, fans didn’t like it because it was stupid & unbelievable. Aliens just don’t fit into the world of Indiana Jones.
Crystal Skull is so much better than DoD.
I think the biggest flaw of this movie was making the crystal skull look like that
@tjhooker824 Far from the biggest flaw, but certainly one of them.
1:55 The prototype for the Tom Holland/MCU "What just happened?" line. So cringy.
