    Dude I really dig these videos, such a sweet bike. The work was all worth it!
    I've always wanted to own an older BMW, the look of the sideways engine and the sound has always intrigued me. Keep up the good videos, I subscribed!

      Thanks, Ivan! I've owned other bikes in the past including a 1985 BMW K100rs. That thing ripped, 100hp! Drove it on road trips spanning hundreds of miles, and all for the purchase price of $500. Now you can't find them that cheap due to the cafe racer hype they gained.
      That was my favorite bike, until this one. It's so simple to work on, starts everytime, and has an amazing community.
      Thanks for watching!

    Great video man and it's nice to see you make serious progress on your /6! Regarding the rear wheel: do not throw away that wheel! The preload must be adjusted between both tapered bearings and it's really not that hard to do. With a couple of hardened washers, you could possibly save that rear wheel. and use it as a spare in the near future.
    I'll try and share more information on this in an upcoming video, once I'm ready to assemble my hubs.
    Keep up the awesome work and don't be afraid to share more videos along your journey! Cheers

      Thanks, dude. Was gonna go up on the wall somewhere as some "wall art" but definitely saving it as a spare if some how that hub can be used/salvaged. Thanks for watching.

    Whats the solution to valve seat recession ?

    • @DispatchMoto
      @DispatchMoto  Před rokem +2

      The solution is sending it off to a machine shop specialized in airhead machining where they're able to grind, pull, (not exactly sure) out the old seat and replace it. There are preventive measures you can take.
      In my case I believe it was less of a case regarding unleaded fuel/heat and more of a lack of maintaining a correct valve clearance seeing how only one side is effected.

      @@DispatchMoto You say "machine shop specialized in airhead machining". Yes! Make sure they know what they are doing. Years ago I gave a machine shop a CB750 fork tube that was bent and asked if they could straighten it. They said "yes". When I got it back it WAS straight, but it also had knurl marks on the lower, hydraulic part of the tube. Where the fork seals would travel. This ruined it. Back in the day, we tried to reuse as much as we could rather than just replacing it. It was useless after straightening.
      But I kept it and still have it, it wouldn't work as a fork tube but it makes a great cheater, slip it over a breaker bar and if you don't break the socket you will break lose whatever you are trying to loosen.
