Music consists of sections of three different tracks from the Days of Thunder original score by Hans Zimmer:
0:00 - Days of Thunder (Main Title)
1:02 - Car Building
2:32 - The Last Race (clip I used is at about 7 minutes 50 seconds on that track)
My Gear:
Canon 7DMKII
Canon EF 28-135MM F3.5-5.6 & EF 100MM F2.8 Macro lenses. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
It looks like that car hit everything on the track except the damm pace car.
TwistedAxles912 Mabye he just wanted ice cream
Very nicely built post race version with racing "battle scars".🙂👍
This is AMAZING! I wish there was a way to have one built just like this!
Inspired by your TA vids! Thanks!
dude this video is awesome lol. from one DoT fan to another
You are amazing at this
Amazing as always. I know you got your rims from mikes but have you been able to find any "1980s style " lately?
I haven't built anything since this one a year ago so not really had a need to look. At the time I was told Mikes would restock the wheels but far as I know, that has never happened. For that reason I actually had the wheels on this build donated from another modeler and they came from a Monogram T-bird kit. Recently there was a guy in the "NASCAR Modeling" Facebook group that was selling 3D printed versions of these wheels.
Amazing! How did you make the window net?
Thank you! Window net is white masking tape cut into strips based on the kit net then painted black. A trimmed metal straight pin is the attach point on the top and there are magnets inside the body to hold it in the either the up or down position. The clip on the front top of the net is just a small square of sheet plastic painted silver. The attack clip on the roll cage is a bent and trimmed staple.
Was the Cam in the Trans am worth it? Would you recommend. Did you have to tune it after? If so how much?
For an off the shelf cam yes I would recommend anyone to at least look into it. It can be run with stock ports on the heads (as I am running, I only changed the springs and rockers) and still get a good power gain. If it is the right choice depends on what the end goal really is though. It definitely needs tuned, as all larger cams will. I did mail order "Power Tune" from lt1pcmtuning.com. I highly recommend his work for mail order tuning for LT1s.
@@BDR_Photo Thank you brother! Appreciate it Sir.
How did you do the scuff marks because I’m doing a separate model and I want a scuff mark on it
Rubber color paint on a spare tire sidewall twisted on the car. I do not like the outcome, one of the things about this car I wish I did differently.
Powerslide has a tire scuff decal sheet now. Called Rubbin's Racing Tire Rub. You can find it on MikesDecals.
What is the name of the song...I remember it from Sunday money
There are clips of 3 different songs from the Days of Thunder original movie score by Hans Zimmer:
0:00 - Days of Thunder (Main Title)
1:02 - Car Building
2:32 - The Last Race (timestamp of section used is 7 minutes 50 seconds).
I want all the days of thunder die cast they’re hard to find tho
I don't think they ever made any diecasts officially. That's why I built my own so they would be up to my standards.
How did you do the weathering on the body?
Dents were made by heating the plastic a little then pushing it in. For final weathering first I lightly built up flat white paint over the front valance to give it the sand blasted look. Following this I took spray undercoating and dusted from a distance for the road grime (essentially the same as airbrush on low pressure). The grime build up is a mix of flat black/brown/burnt umber thinned and built up by pressing it on with a paper towel. Tire marks were flat black on a spare tire spun on the body (those are the only part of the build I am disappointed with). Fuel spill on the rear was done by dripping a little acetone down the body, then going over that with a ghost gray. Finally I took some isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip over the windshield to look like the team spraying and wiping it off.
The weathering is a bit overdone, but if there was any car you can get away with that it's any from this movie.
@@BDR_Photo Cool! Thanks for the help!
Where is your 97 TA?. I'm on my 3rd one. 99, 98 and now I just picked up your car. 97 WS6 in black. 41K miles. Needs some more vids bro! (Sold the 99 and 98)
It's taking it's winter break. I have no idea what kind of videos to do with it since I don't track it or anything. Hopefully a spark of creativity will hit this spring.
Car needs the front left hand part of the bumper missing and more dents and oil stains, other then that....good job.
Ah, I never intended to do an exact replica, just a spiritual tribute built for fun 👍
@@BDR_Photo I know, just joking.
@@crazykellywfo4240 They really beat the crap out of them that's for sure lol. Thanks for stopping on my little video and leaving kind words.
