seems fishy. 502CI engines haven't been allowed in NAASCAR competition in DECADES. And, to my knowledge, NEVER in the Cup series. All cars run a 358CI motor. These days they are EFI, but back in 89 they were carbed, with some mean Weiand dual plane intakes and Holley carbs.

I think its a replica anyway. I don’t recall the car having a green interior. Plus thats a road corse car. They only used speedway cars in the movie. The indicator is the fuel filler is on the passengers side.
I think there was about 6 different cars for different scenes. NASCAR made them really qualify to get in the races. Plus this is a restored car. I could be wrong, by far no expert

going off an interview I watched all cars in days of thunder were proper nascars
RIP this car, now it is resting in pieces on a trailer probably after sunday's Goodwood crash :( Hope they'll fix her up soon.
