Hi David, I really like the work you did on the kit. I am so sorry to see the problems you are having with the finish. I'm sure you will get things sorted out. I will be looking forward to seeing the finished car. Have a great day. Jeff
Definitely start on some of these kits, after the first Lumina you're going to start assembling these inbyour sleep. Remember to lower the suspension.🙂
@@davidchin350 I test everything David, spoon test paint, clear coat, and decals for reaction, that leaves nothing to chance, just a tip for future builds, will definitely save a lot of problems
nice update David. The decals looked great. Sorry the clear ate the. Super light coats on the clear, and give them plenty of time to gas off between coats. Best of luck
@@davidchin350 Yeah it's hard. I have to try hard not to flood clears. I have really bright LEDs in my spray booth so I can angle the part around and get the light to hit it so I can see it better.
Dang, I hate when issues pop up at the end of the build. Sorry that happened to you. I do love those old Monogram Lumina kits though. speaking of Mello Yello....I did Kyle Petty's Mello Yellow Pontiac waaaaay back in the day. I hope you get that all sorted out, David.
Great job on everything David, it's a shame the clear coat messed up! I don't plan on using a clear coat unless I absolutely have to, it just seems to mess things up for me.
Nice looking build, the new decals look a lot better than the original ones. Too bad about the clear coat messing up, I’ve had that happen before and I don’t know what causes it.
Wow AWESOME! work David....so bummed about the clear ...no1 reason I stay away from the tall cans of paint and 2k clear is still my favorite hope you can fix it with a flow coat more clear such a shame to have too purple pond it!😥😔
Wow bro awesome job on those decals! I like doing decals but NASCAR's give me an anxiety attack just thinking about it LOL keep up the good work brother
Man, that is a shame that done that on you. It was really turning out great. Will be watching for the next update. Have a great week ahead buddy. Terry 1
Coming along nice David. Too bad about the clear coat. Race car builds look great and decals really brings them to life. Personally I don't clearcoat racecars sine the real 1 to 1 cars use decals on top of the paint
Man that sucks. It came out awesome. That’s exactly where my models fail. Did you use rust oleum, I pretty much stopped using it. Total difference in the decals. I’ve got some progress and of course I started another kit too!! 👊🤘👍
Yes it was Rustoleum but I already had Primer, paint and clearcoat on it b4 decals so who knows. Your a wild man, I saw your ExxonMobil Superflo with Jersey plates.
It was going so well until the end 😩 . Clear coating over decals on NASCAR models is a discussion that can get really heated! I general do not clear over the decals, some people do. Well good luck on your next try with the body.
Bummer about the gloss coat, maybe some sanding and polishing will reduce a lot of the orange peel if not completely erase it. How can you paint parts attached on sprues? I mean what about the marks that left behind when you remove them? Nice update David!
Was looking pretty awesome David. Really sucks about the clear coat. Was that paper towel you used to block out the window openings when you painted? That could be where a lot of the dust came from.
Thanks Brian, all the primer, paint and clearcoat are Rustoleum 2x. Clearcoat was Gloss Clear but came out dull. Mike's decals are much better. Hopefully second time around will be better.
Nice update, too bad about the top coat. I wonder if you could just build up a thick layer of clear then wet sand it, might work instead of starting again.
Ouch, that sucks bigtime. Option to buying new decals and repainting is leave it as a racecar that has been sitting for awhile or barnfind would work ?
Hasil kerja yang sangat bagus 👍,. Semoga sukses selalu sahabat baru
Watching now having breakfast Cool 👍😎🇦🇺
6:02 looking fantastic David
Great work David your making some awesome progress on the Lumina nice your doing a buddy build with Frank keep up the great work
Thanks Cliff, I try to work on 1 or 2 at a time or else I lose track.
Bummmmmmer! The decals look awesome though David. Keep it comin my friend
U got it Steve, back to the drawing board for me.
Looking good David, now we are waiting for the part 3 😁
Hopefully soon, thanks Toni.

Oh man thats a bugger about the clear, as was looking Superb, looking forward to seeing more of this build

@@davidchin350 ok cool got ya, will look even better now, looking forward to seeing it again 🤫 cheers 🍻🥂 KC 🇦🇺
Cool job with the decals David . Turning good !
Thanks, I will have to reorder some and reapply them.
The W.I.P NASCAR is looking real good , David
Thanks John, I'm just going to redo the body.
I have all these kits from the movie. I have to start on one of these sooner or later. You did a nice job David, subbed, cheers 🍺
Definitely start on some of these kits, after the first Lumina you're going to start assembling these inbyour sleep. Remember to lower the suspension.🙂
Beautiful decals!!.They ought to really pop in this!!
Progress looks Good. Bummer on the body. You make me want me yo go watch the movie. I'll be watching
Definitely a good movie to rewatch. Just got the Testors ELO so will remove decals and paint very soon for 2nd try.
Darn,,damn,,f..k,,good job though David,,its still a thing a beauty 👍😎👌
Thanks Jose, hopefully I'll fix it within a week.
looks awsome David great job sorry was behind but getting caught up with u now bro
No worries Keith I do the same.
The chassis and roll cage look great!!
Thanks Tom, the kit is now completed but awaiting my buddy to finish before final reveal.🙂
Looks great so far David, sucks about the clear. Rick 😎✌️
Thanks Rick. Its a do over, gotta do it right.
Was looking great David, bummer on the clear, :)
Yep, gotta start from square one on the body.
@@davidchin350 I test everything David, spoon test paint, clear coat, and decals for reaction, that leaves nothing to chance, just a tip for future builds, will definitely save a lot of problems
The black chrome wheels will look cool 😎 on this!!
I use a plastic box upside-down to keep the dust off the kits after painting the kits
Thanks for the tip but the dust came during the spraying process since I still rattle can outside.☹️
That's too bad David! I hope you can find the decals for it.
I get them from Mike's Decals.
nice update David. The decals looked great. Sorry the clear ate the. Super light coats on the clear, and give them plenty of time to gas off between coats. Best of luck
Your right about the clear coat, unfortunately the clear coat is optically transparent to me and sometimes I can't tell how much I'm laying down😔
@@davidchin350 Yeah it's hard. I have to try hard not to flood clears. I have really bright LEDs in my spray booth so I can angle the part around and get the light to hit it so I can see it better.

Second try no clear coat, thanks Mike.
Excellent detailing job!!

Nice! Great work!👍
Thanks, I'm doing the body over again.
@@davidchin350 Good luke bro! you'll get there!
Nice 👍🏽

Such an iconic car!!!!
I knew you would like these builds because your a big NASCAR fan🙂
@@davidchin350 can't get enough of it! Esp the 90s era, that's when I found it
that came out good, looks nice my friend

The mysteries of scale modeling, inconsistent paint results 🤔
Oh man that was looking great, i had a small section on my car that i resprayed and it looked great, until i put clear coat on,it did the same thing 😞😞
Always the last step😣
Dang, sorry about you have to pond this because of the top coat at the end. You'll get it looking great again though David!
Thanks Joe.
That sucks about the clear coat David, but the rest of it is looking good brother!
Thanks Shawn, second time around should be better.
Wow AWESOME! work David....so bummed about the clear ...no1 reason I stay away from the tall cans of paint and 2k clear is still my favorite hope you can fix it with a flow coat more clear such a shame to have too purple pond it!😥😔
The tall cans sometimes work and sometimes don't. A do over.😫
Sharp paint job!!
Wow bro awesome job on those decals! I like doing decals but NASCAR's give me an anxiety attack just thinking about it LOL keep up the good work brother
Thanks Mike, I have to redo the body so I will be applying decals two times, that might give you a heart attack.
@@davidchin350
Oh Noooooooo 🤯
Bummer on the top coat, I did the old HPI Guys future floor polish trick over my DoT builds and so far it’s holding up well.
Thanks Chris, I'll keep that in mind.
Man, that is a shame that done that on you. It was really turning out great. Will be watching for the next update. Have a great week ahead buddy. Terry 1
Thanks Terry, at least the chassis, interior and engine are good.
@@davidchin350 yeah, that is a plus for sure and that turned out awesome.

I finished stripping the old paint and about to restart. I touch up the parts afterwards since sometimes they cannot be seen🙂
Oh man that stinks about the clear :( it is looking great. Hope you can fix the trouble without stripping it.
Thanks Kenny, it's a do over since it's not salvageable.
@@davidchin350 😥👍

Was that paper towel you used to block out the window openings when you painted? That could be where a lot of the dust came from.
Yes, next time I'll try masking tape, thanks Skip.
Sometimes on my grilles I used thinned flat black paint on them to create a more realistic look ..
😍😍😍😍👍👍👍👍
😊thanks.
David what dull coat or you using? Those Mike’s decals do look way better. Nice progress David.
Thanks Brian, all the primer, paint and clearcoat are Rustoleum 2x. Clearcoat was Gloss Clear but came out dull. Mike's decals are much better. Hopefully second time around will be better.

I could leave as a barn find but it looked pretty good right b4 the clearcoat so it's back to square one for me😣
How are you lowering the suspension. Love the fitment on the 46 car. I have 4 monogram donors on order to do the 51s,46 and 18
The rears have a pin on top of the coil springs, I shorten them to compress the spring thus lowering the rear. I think I left the fronts stock.🙂
I've got a CZcams channel myself .
Thanks just subbed.
