Very nice Rob! I love seeing the old MatchBox kits come to life. Beautiful.
+TommyBoy ScaleModeling Thanks.. and I enjoy bringing them to life.. :)
I like the way you share the history with pictures of the build. Art and education.
+GYRUSS Thank you.. and yes.. that is the general idea.. thanks for enjoying my effort.. :)
that right there is the reason I started youtubing. love the build, great nostalgia, great video. I have said it countless times before and I'll say it again. I am astounded with the quality of your work with a 'hairy stick'.
+UKscalemodeller I bow my bald head in the usual gratitude,.. :)
Looks outstanding...really like that silver Indian livery and the history of the aircraft at the beginning...thanks for sharing...
+Colonel Reb's Scale Models ..and thank you for watching and commenting.. :)
Very nice and unusual colour scheme. love it!
A good choice building the Mk2, a fine looking aircraft. Looks excellent in that Indian livery...Good job
+Anthony Chappell Thank you.. I felt like doing something a bit different.. :)
a yummy model with unusual markings, very cool :)
+Hamilkar Barkas Of'course.. :) What else would you expect from me?? :)
Very nice to see it in such an interesting scheme. Super build Rob
+Armour Empire Thank you.. I am not in an RAF mood at the moment, so it had to be a different version.. and post war aircraft are always interesting.. at least to me.. :)
An exotic build to say the least !
+mybluebelly It's a bit different.. and you know I don't like to build the same old stuff that everyone else does.. at least not most of the time.. :)
Rob, Nice bit of scratch work for the pit. I would have gone with the "Round motor" nose also, being fan of the radial engine. For being blessed with yellow and green plastic{?!} the end result was terrific, congrats! - Bob
+bob dyer It's the colour of the plastic that makes the Matchbox kit special.. :) I enjoyed making the cockpit, just a shame none of it shows on the finished model, but at least I know it is there.. :)
A great build.Thanks for posting
+regalmeister Thanks for watching.. ;)
Nice Model. I saw an Sea Fury at a Airshow. A Great Plane.
+corvette724 Yes, they are beautiful.. :)
Very cool looking aircraft and markings!
+Paul Alba Thank you.. it was a nice simple build, and it's always nice to do something a bit different.. :)
I can remember building this when I was a kid. Where’s the time gone?
The Tempest II is a cool looking plane. I built this same version years ago. Thanks for making a video of your build.
super build rob ! will have to get one to do the same as yours .great job too with the canopy
+Damian Mullan Thank you.. They sell from between £4.99 up to £10 or more on ebay.. depending on the box, it seems.. :)
Awesome build...I just love Matchbox nostalgia builds!!!
Beautiful for real! And you made such a great work on rejuvenation on the vintage kit that now it looks as if it were much more to date.
That's a sweet looking Tempest! I love the style and colors of the Indian roundels used on the model, they look cool against the NMF. Thanks for the history lesson at the start, too. Cheers : )
Rob, I liked how you scratch built the cockpit although basic(no pun intended) is very effective.got to love the matchbox sprue colours though:-)
+Shaq Ram Yes, the colours are what makes Matchbox such great fun.. :) The scratchbuild doesn't show on the finished model but at least I know it is there.. :)
+Rob BasicModelling yep
A perfect oddball scheme, and it's a great Matchbox build :D I really like the cockpit detail that you added, and it's pretty cool you were able to add the vacu-formed canopy to complete it :D
+rebelsatcloudnine Thank.. and yes, the kit had no canopy when I bought it so the vac-form was a must.. luckily I did not ruin it.. :)
Looks great Rob, nice work.
+Makingmodels81 Thank you very much.. clean simple modelling fun.. :)
Great nostalgia build Rob. Love the extra work in the cockpit....pilot looks good in there. Unusual markings too....I like.Bill.
you just cant go wrong with a Matchbox kit... its a great build Rob... and not very common to see also.
+PanzermansBunker Thanks.. I made sure I painted the pilot in the correct shade of skin tone.. :) Accuracy is my motto.. sometimes.. :)
+AlexModeling Thanks.. and yes, all the more a good reason to build it.. :)
nice builds Rob on a matchbox classic top stuff bud
+Faron Adams Thank you.. I do like the classic old Matchbox kits.. especially when I come across one I haven't built before.. like this one.. :)
Matchbox... Gotta love them! I hope Revell will release this one with the same Indian decals.
+Enevan1968 That would be nice.. but if Revell hasn't yet released it perhaps they won't.. not sure if they took over ALL the Matchbox tooling or only some..
Very good! I like it.
+qdc748a Thank you.. it was a simple build without too much fuss.. :)
wow! great build!
Looks awesome my friend!!!!
+Deron Shank Thank you very much, Deron.. :)
Great work Rob, I like the scratch building!
+General Splatton Well, the empty cockpit made me itch, so I had to scratch it.. ;)
nice :) that was my first Matchbox model and end up in the bin because i had the right wing twice so i couldnt finish it :P my god thats old
+rOEN911 Olden, but golden.. :) Shame about your wing though..
Les Claypool on bass.
Nice Rob that's got to be one from the 70s . I recently uploaded a Mustang III and dedicated it to you . .. I prefer the Mkii Tempest as it does away with that enormous chin radiator . AS I'm still trying to stick to WW2 I just have A mk V . though I am building a BAC Lightning mk 6 right now and got A Tornado F 3 a few days ago . Also ordered a Mk Iv Blenheim Airfix new tool as I need the parts to convert my Mki to a nightfighter .
+Anthony Brown Sorry for not having been round your channel yet, but don't give up.. on of these days I may just surprise you.. :) Looks like you are keeping very busy.. I have just finished a Saab Draken in Austrian camo, and have started a German submarine in 1/350 scale.. variation is the spice of modelling after all.. says me, who will build another Draken after the submarine.. :)
+Rob BasicModelling Yes the submarine looks good too . Yes I am reviving at last and today got on with the Blenheim Mk I . I will be finishing it as A nightfighter with stuff from the Blenheim IVf kit . Made some good progress on The EE Lightning kit , it's generally a good kit . I might even resume on the Lancaster mk B2 ; which was substantially built ; when I put it aside .
nice job love it
+Sam Morgan Thank you, Sam.. :)
Very nice work!
What is the liquid decal film?
Actually the wheel bays are very wrong and it's a shame Matchbox didn't mould the bottom wing moulding in one piece
I still like it.. :)
Nice clean build. How long did it took to build? Any tips on removing vacuform canopies?
+noirnegro It was quite a quick build.. took me a bit longer than I thought as I didn't have time to sit and do any hobby because of work so had to fit it in when I could. But it's not a complicated build.. you just need a bit of filler. And if you don't scratchbuild the cockpit it'll be very quick indeed.. :) As for the vac-form, you need a good sharp pair of pointed scissors and / or a sharp hobby knife.. it's always best to buy a couple so you have a spare, especially the first few times you have to cut one, until you get used to what to do.. :)
Very nice work! I really look forward to your builds. I have recently become a convert to brush painting. I was wondering if you put a gloss coat over the silver before you applied the decals. I suppose you may not have had to since it was gloss silver. Thanks again.
Johnnyb
+johnny b Thank you.. and no, as you said yourself, the silver is already gloss, so no need for a gloss varnish on this model.. :)
I wonder how u paint on silver without getting brush strokes.
Får mig att vilja se filmen Porco Rosso. ;)
This plane looks like the Focke Wulf 190.
Doesn't it?
+Nils Javernik A little bit .. it has the look of many different aircraft, but mainly it looks like a Tempest Mk.II.. ;)
Rob, what kind of silver colour is that?
+SlovakianLynx That is the Humbrol (enamel) 191 Chrome Silver.. :) As mentioned in the video... ;)
+Rob BasicModelling отличная сборка! matchbox- модели моего детства)))))
+Rob BasicModelling Aha, I was a bit sleepy when watching, so I guess I just didnt notice. I just wanted to know how do you make it so clean? I undercoated my Walrus with Humbrol metalic 11 + Revell thinner and smudges accured, even though I had 4 layers. Its just undercoat, so it doest matter much, but I dont know, what to do, if it will be the main colour of some model. I dont have such issue with H191 thought, so it may be just the colour??
+SlovakianLynx I normally do about 3 layers of Humbrol 11 when I use it.. the trick is, which I discovered by accident, to cover any smudges with an almost dry brush of Humbrol 11, it seem to work quite well.. give it a try.. :)
+Rob BasicModelling I normaly alsow use 3 layers, but I thought that another one could solve the problem. Ofcourse it didnt. Aaah thats very interesting, dint even thought, that might work. Thanks for the tip :)
