I packed my hospital bag for birth! Prepare for either C-section or vaginal birth by watching my video on what to bring to the hospital for labor/birth, postpartum, and for baby. As an OB-GYN doctor, I know what the hospital has and what you might want to bring with you.

Am I the only guy who watches this video to write down the checklist for my wife? lol.
5 days ago my wife gave birth. My bag was way bigger than it should, I over-packed lol. Oh well. Good luck to all the moms out there.
nope. here to do it too. great minds hehe
@@DuyDepTraiPhoBaTrieu God bless you brother. What a blessing to your wife you're 🤍
Love this!
We have one girl and one boy now and if I ever have a third I’ll be back here again 😂😂 good luck to all the fathers out there getting ready for the big day!!!
This is the hospital bag video everyone needed. Everyone else is Packing way too much. I remember I didn’t have much that I took aside from 2 pair baby clothes, 1 moo moo for me and a change of clothes to go home in.
What is a “moo moo”
@@blessedbeyondmeasures7532 a grandma pajama that kinda looks like a long dress 😆
@@franchisemusic4585 oh I call those a gown ,I use to wear them growing up
I had my son in 2019, emergency c-section at 36 weeks, and I had a 6 day hospital stay. 😵💫 Absolutely brutal. There were 3 things I was really glad to have. The 1st thing was a bath robe! Hospital gowns open in the back, and I just felt so much better when I was walking the halls and visiting the NICU knowing that my butt wasn’t hanging out for the world to see. The 2nd thing was my own breast pump. I my hospital had hospital grade breast pumps and each of the mother-baby unit rooms, but the one in my room was broken and they didn’t have extras. 🙄 it was also really nice to be able to have the lactation consultants show me how to use the actual breast pump that I would have to use at home. The 3rd thing was my hands-free pumping bra. That allowed me to pump while I was holding my tiny baby.
I was the over-packer… I brought makeup and a hair dryer. If I had only been in the hospital for 2 days, I wouldn’t have touched them. But since I was there nearly a week… it was nice to be able to get myself put together. Totally unnecessary though.
I agree q the breast pump...I had to use one of the old hand pumps the hospitals had 15 yrs ago n it was brutal....I ve now adapted things like dry shampoo for reg shampoo n conditioner...n snacks are a must for me managing my blood sugar...6 days is brutal..I hope I don't have a c section ..n your e lucky the hands free bras worked ..I have too big a cup size n they do t feel too well🙃🙃
Noted thank you for sharing !
Your chill perspective was super helpful! People make way too big a deal about this on the internet and it can stress you out as a new mom. But it’s truly not a big deal. My hospital is 15 minutes away, local roads. Worse case scenario hubby goes home to get anything we need.
Same
We live about 20 mins away, locals roads and the hospitals is close to plenty shopping centers so if we’re missing anything we can make a quick trip. However I do understand not everyone has that setup and has a person nearby to support them.
I'm a 15 minute WALK away from the hospital, so I'm definitely not over-packing this time! ❤ eta: no, I'm not planning to walk, just illustrating how close we are, lol 😂

I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant and finally decided to look what to pack for hospital. I'm so glad your video was the first one I clicked. Idk why, but I feel stress free about the packing 😆
Also remember: every hospital is different! It’s always great to call in advance and ask them what they provide and what they don’t so (hopefully) you can prepare. My hospital didn’t provide toothbrushes or other toiletries but they DID have a charger I could use, go figure! Also, MOST hospitals provide diapers and wipes but I have heard some people say their hospital didn’t provide those things and they had to have their own.
And to add to this, take an extra empty bag to bring home diapers and wipes and formula (if your hospital provides these things). They usually let you bring all this stuff home.
And pack extra clothes for yourself in case you have a longer stay. Everyone told us we’d only be there for 1-2 days but we had a 4 day stay so I was glad to have extra clothes.
I will say, I took a blanket and my own pillow (and packed a blanket/pillow) for hubby which stayed in the car until after delivery. But the blanket was so comforting. I bought it on sale in a dark color (in case it got gross) but it was super soft and fuzzy. It made such a difference with keeping me calm. I have back/neck issues so my own pillow was a must. The hospital did tell me though that I should put a different color pillowcase on it so it didn't match the hospital pillows.
*She bought a new black robe the next day * made me laugh.
I was like “oh yes I will use this for a long time afterwards, it’s an investment!” Haha
Such a great list. I lived in the hospital stuff, even in recovery because it meant less laundry. The postpartum gowns had horrible puff sleeves, but honestly I didn’t care at that point. My only add to your list is snacks, especially for your support person. We also packed a separate bag with extra clothes which stayed in the car in case we ended up needing to stay longer. No need to drag all those “what ifs” into the hospital. It’s just more things that need to be washed when you get home.
the "what ifs" in the car is a really good idea!
This was the most comforting hospital bag video ever
You are such a great doctor! So down to earth, smart, kind; totally inspire confidence in your patients I’m sure. So glad there are so many wonderful female. obgyns these days.
Hope all goes smoothly for you!
I love this! So simple and realistic! Thank you for sharing what the hospital may provide and what you’d recommend taking.
I way over packed the first time. However, I was giving birth at the peak of the pandemic and my support person was not allowed to come and go, once you were there, you weren't leaving till you were discharged or your support person just couldn't reenter.
I am almost 35 weeks pregnant with my first child, and this video was extremely insightful, because I was kind of stressing about what to pack. Other than mine and my husbands toiletries, changes of clothes for us, the onesie we want the baby to wear home, our phone chargers, and some on the road snacks, we may just do like you and let me rely mostly on the hospital for the stuff I will need
Been stressing about mine and this was so helpful! Thank you 🤍🤍
I'm 23 days away from my third scheduled c section and I will be taking the bare essentials like charger and snacks. I always just wear the hospital gown and enjoy not changing too much. They already have everything for baby and I only pack a going home outfit and save all my essentials for home. I also bring an extra blanket. Keep it simple and you won't risk leaving anything or stressing about what you may forgot.
Thank you this was helpful since It my first baby and I'm freaking out on what to pack
@@maxineperez3141You're more than welcome. Congratulations on the new baby. It's an amazing experience
3rd time mom here, but it's been 8 yrs! This video was so helpful.
Love your video. Thanks for not being so extra!!! I was keeping it really minimal this time too. My surprise 2nd is coming in two weeks!!
At 29th week now with my first baby. Thank you for such a wonderful informative video. All other videos I saw had too many things. This one makes so much more sense
Great video! I’m the same with labor and delivery. Every time, I’ve only packed what little I needed. No need to pack a ton of stuff you don’t need! 😁
This is definitely so helpful!
Just the video a I needed! I’m a FTM and I was so overwhelmed with all these videos like I just wanted a simple video because I knew It didn’t make sense to bring so much stuff to the hospital. New subscriber !! 🫶🏻
I had an SCH at 10 weeks for this pregnancy. I'm now 31 weeks and my little guy is transverse lying and loving it, he's wedged so far in my pelvis that my uterus is irritable. My OB said he should flip by my next appointment, but I think he's going to call her bluff 😅. I just wanted to say I'm so thankful for your videos, I swear you experience things before me just to help me get through them ❤
This was the best hospital bag video I have seen! Thank you.
Thank you for making a realistic video! ❤️
Hey queen nice video very nice ideas I didn't think about wearing black pj's and we two bags and a pillow as well I like extra pillows
Currently packing mine at the last minute for schedule c section on 12/21. I’m always last minute with bag packing 😂. This was helpful!
1. Charger
2. Computer
3. Slippers
4. Nursing bra 2
5. PJs
6. Sweater
7. Eye Glasses
8. Toiletries
9. Pumping bra 1 ( in case you have to pump)
10. Breastfeeding pillow
11. Baby onesies to go home in
12. Baby Swaddle
I live an hour and a half away from my house so definitely have to pack a little more this trip than my last pregnancy 😂 we also ended up staying in the hospital over a week last time. Hopefully this time is much smoother so I can get in and out
So sweet!! Thank you. I had a similar experience with my first so this was exactly the video I needed to get ready for #2
I had a c section and still had vag bleeding after recovery oil felt sooo cold in my room and it was end of July! Next time I’m bringing a robe and my own blanket
Thanks for this video. The other ones are so intense and they made me stress.
This baby I’m bringing dermaplast! And nail clippers for baby. My hospital didn’t give me dermaplast and they didn’t have any nail files. I’m also bringing a comb for the contractions to squeeze in my hand to help mange the pajn.
Before Birth:
A phone charger/watch charger (iWatch)
Laptop to watch movies and such
Other people have brought speakers/ambiance items
Post partum:
Fuzzy slippers
2 nursing bras
1 pumping bra
PJs (black because you bleed a lot following birth)
Sweater/robe
Toiletry bag, (shampoo/conditioner, toothbrush/toothpaste, glasses and contacts)
Breast feeding pillow
For Baby: (use mostly the things from the hospital)
Onsie to go home in
Swaddle
"Its really not a lot of stuff"
i think it depends on your hospital and you need to get a list from them of what they provide and what to pack because my hospital; in canada does not provide much and if they do, it is very reluctantly.
Do the hospitals in the US give You those for free? Here i'm Argentina they do hace stuff but theyll Charge one when parients are discharged
My first we had nothing because my car was in the shop and my water broke early and it was fine. My second they said you may be in for 5days and my husband was not aloud to leave after labor started because of covid. The one thing I did take was a back pack full of snacks for my husband and a mini coffe maker and one take home outfit in newborn and 0-3months
My daughter who is a OB GYN had her baby last week
As a first time momma I was so uncomfortable at the hospital after birth. I only had my mom as support but she was busy with my sister’s kids! I didn’t bring anything for me or my son. He was literally just in diapers and hospital swaddle 😢 and I was only in robe and loose panties😢! This time around I’m making sure I bring what I need 😅 a hair brush & hair tie for sure😂
I also didn’t have anything prepared or ready the first time so you are not alone. The babies don’t need much but it’s nice to be comfortable as a new mom!
this is so interesting to see what other countries do and provide. in the uk i had a c section and was send home the next day. they also dont provide anything apart from ready filled formula bottles for baby. you have to provide everything else including a towel for a shower after birth
Yeah except all of our things cost $100 each that you’ll see on your bill afterwards 😂😂
This was so helpful. Thank you! It never crossed my mind (new mom here) that the hospital would have so much stuff.
They have everything actually maybe u just need your pijamas toiletries and baby clothes
Thank you so much for this ❤️
I’m due in like 4 weeks and this is so helpful. Every day is flying by so fast! We have a hospital/baby bag for my husband but I personally don’t have one yet as money is tight and I didn’t receive a bag in the baby shower. We’re probably going to just grab a backpack and fill it with snacks and electrolytes drinks for husband and I from dollar tree.
I am new to your channel but really like the content thanks for sharing
Wow your hospital sounds nice. Mine (I am in Canada Ontario not sure if it same with every hospital) the hospital near me did not have wipes for baby, didn’t have pump or at least they said I don’t need it when I requested it even though my baby was in nico the first day. Didn’t even let me take baby blanket and they asked me to leave it.
Love the shirt. Where can I get them for my practice? (fellow Ob)
thanks this is very helpfull
Can I ask if it’s safe to use a griddle after a c-section ?
Hi I'm a new user I've been stressing out about what to pack for my C-section what should I pack for those 3-4days at the hospital
Thank you 🙏🏾
I think bringing a dirty laundry bag would be nice
I am in Canada and its not all the hospital that have onesize, diaper for babies and panties for mama. I think you have to know what your hospital has first
I heard hospital pillow is very uncomfortable and idk if they provide blankets?
Youd probably need to bring toiletries, no?
Most important phone Charger and ipad and its charger, 2 nursing bras from Target, robe, and black nursing nightgown , Silverettes, and baby stuff are only things needed.
I like ur videos
Don't forget snacks for you and hubby
Could you please provide the link for the breastfeeding pillow....thanks
Definitely worth bringing your breastfeeding pillow. If I bring nothing this second pregnancy, I'm 100% bringing that!!! Your in so much pain down there. You need the support from the breastfeeding pillow to help you get the baby in a good position for feeding. I requested like 9 pillows try to support me and my baby but that didn't help like my breastfeeding pillow did. Make sure your breastfeeding pillow has good support and isn't one of those that's just stuffing and no foam. That's if you want to have a successful time breastfeeding without putting your groin in more pain than it will already be in.
TMI warning, but trying to sit up straight to support the baby for feeding just pulled my stitches and hurt so so so bad. My pillow allows me to lay back but keeps the baby in a good position so that I don't have to sit up straight. I hope this helps someone....
Which on was your post delivery pads?
Cosign! also an OBGYN on her second baby. Though I DO love the adult diapers over the mesh underwear in the hospital.
Where did you get the "Pregnancy is not a health neutral event" shirt?
I worked with bonfire to design it, all proceeds go to National Abortion Funds! The link is here: www.bonfire.com/pregnancy-is-not-a-health-neutral-event/
Where do I get that shirt
Thanks
Finally someone realistic.. Not all those with a whole suit case.
Best video I've seen all these girls packing up like they're traveling for a whole month hahahha
Can i take insents i love the smell or 🕯
People on your other videos were being really transphobic and ignorant and said they wouldn't watch your videos because you used gender neutral language. I wanted to let you know that using terms like "pregnant person" means so much to me, and I appreciate it so much.
I'm a cis woman, 31 weeks pregnant, but have many friends who are trans or nonbinary in my community.
This slight adaptation of language has earned you a new subscriber! Thank you!
I’m so happy to hear that! It truly is such an easy and inclusive switch. I don’t give those people any attention, they are sad and arguing with them is pointless.
Agreed
*Hospital sacks* I panicked because I had no idea what this meant and then realized you were saying SOCKS
How old are you?
Hi.
Here in the U.K. we are told to “bring a nappy” (diaper) for the newborn straight after birth, and also a hat. The NHS is broke 😮 Times are hard…
Wow!
Australian hospitals provide next to nothing 😅
imagine if the hospital stoped doing these free things and you didened have anything
Do we need to pack things for our partner? Hahah I’m serious
In my country u have to take everything needed to the hospital. U don’t get anything for free. No diapers. Formula. Bottles. Blankets. Socks.
Are you from UK? If so I can relate. 😅
It’s not free in the US either. Trust me, you get over charged for it. When she says “free” she just means available and you don’t have to hand over payment for it at that moment
Unless you’re
Plus size…then their gowns don’t fit you. You’re forgetting plus size women.
I am 34 week pregnant
Why you guys only desire a baby boy?
This video was super helpful! Would you be open to us sending you our all natural pain relieving body balm for a review? They help you find relief without NSAIDS, lidocaine, preservatives, or steroids! Please let us know if you are interested 💚
The hospitals in my country give you nothing.
this is very helpful 🤍 currently 30 weeks pregnant & i am ready to prepare within the next couple of weeks i have left 🥹❤️
Real video starts at 4:30, thank me later
