  • What's up gang - I believe that most digital photographers would seriously benefit from getting a Fujifilm Instax Link Wide photo printer for a bunch of different reasons.
    The Fujfilm Instax is an incredible tool for helping you enjoy photography, to remind you of why you enjoy photography. I don't think there is anything else quite like it.
    I'm not getting paid for anything said in this video and therefore don't have any affiliate links.
    Peace,
    JP

    Nailed it…
    I’ve been borrowing the smaller version of this printer lately. I’ve only printed about 50 pics, but it’s so cool handling those tangible little things! I use the empty cartridge to hold ‘albums’ of 10 to 12 pics, sliding them out one at a time, and/or handing the whole package to the subject.
    A few weeks ago I took a dozen shots of the woman who runs a nearby cafe as she made my morning tea and brought it to me. I printed them, put them back in the cartridge and left it on the table without saying anything about it. That little package now sits on the counter and she shuffles the front pic around from time to time. She loves it, and that makes it totally worth it.

    • @JamesParsons1
      @JamesParsons1  Před 2 lety +2

      That is honestly such a cool story! So dope that she loved the photos so much. I’ve never thought about sharing them in that way but that’s such a good idea.
      Might have to steal that idea from you 🙌

    • @travelrecordmusic8265

      @@JamesParsons1 The idea of using the cartridge to store the pics wasn’t mine; I saw it in a re-posted video, I think it was from Zack Arias. You just have to peel off the thin sheet of black plastic at the end of the cartridge and it becomes easy to slide the pictures back in. By applying a little pressure on the back of the cartridge it’s easy to slide them out one by one, just like dealing cards.
      The idea of using the cartridge for an ‘album’ as a gift was something that came to me while loading pics back into it. I’ve put at least 12 pics into one with no problems. It’s enormously satisfying to take 20 or so shots of a friend over a coffee, let them choose their favourite 10, and then pull out the printer they weren’t expecting to see and watch their reaction as the shots slide out and develop in front of their eyes. THEN the double whammy when you tear off the black plastic strip from the supposedly wasted cartridge, collect the developed pics, slide them all into the cartridge, hand it to them and say “Here you go!”
      If I’m using my iPad I’ll edit one of the shots to make a portrait pic with their face filling most of the frame, and put that in last as an album cover. It has such a cool effect…
      For years I’ve been arguing in favour of bits rather than atoms (an influence from Nicholas Negroponte), but there is something wonderful about creating and giving such a tangible little gift of atoms, all made in real-time in front of their eyes. Do it James! Take a friend to a cafe, do what I described above, film it all and post it on your channel. It will be gold, I promise!

    I regret not choosing such a printer when I was looking for a solution for various tasks related to professional photography. Indeed, we see everything horizontally, which is yet another reason to take fewer vertical shots. Moreover, I realised that my camera and most cameras have a similar aspect ratio, so almost nothing will be lost when printing. I'll sell my Polaroid and definitely get this printer! In the end, it will be even cheaper, allowing me to print more photos! Man, you can send them as postcards, give them to friends, and hand them out to clients. The possibilities are endless! Thank you for this informative and inspiring video! 💖

    I'm wondering what you think about the price of this whole process. I don't know what the is situation over in the UK but here in Israel the film is expensive and so is the printer itself.. Thank you dude! I enjoyed making the Intro ❤️ In the UK the printer is about £130ish and you get 20 photos for about £16 (at the time of writing) I really reallllly like it and think it is worth the money. Prints from a proper photoshop are much more expensive and a bit more restrictive.

I would guess it's some inside corporate thing where someone in the printer division decided they would switch to "cute" bluetooth printers (since that's where the market is these days), but the camera production division didn't communicate with the printer division to make sure the printers work with the latest cameras. If you've ever worked in a big company, it's very easy to imagine this happening... In other words, there was never any "justification", it's just each corporate division pursuing its own goals and not noticing the other division. Photographers who want to have a portable printer to print directly to is probably a pretty small market. People who want to print party pics to from their phone is probably a pretty big market...
