    I was beginning to worry that fuji would discontinue the wide format since they haven't had a new camera in 8 years. Im very glad this came out, I wouldn't buy a mini printer because I don't want my already good images from a digital camera to be so tiny, and I didnt get the square printer because of the price of the film being actually MORE than the wide.
    I'll definitely be picking one of these up

    Great video about this new product! I have been an Instax Wide camera user for more than a decade, and now finally Fujifilm gives Instax Wide film a printer which this instant film format deserves. I just saw this printer this afternoon in an electronic appliances store in Tokyo, and came to CZcams to find review videos as I did not know such product was announced and released two months ago! (I did not expect Fujifilm to release any new products for Instax Wide at all) Now my struggle is... whether I should get this printer. I do have a decent and working Fujifilm 500AF but sometimes I did get some overexposed or underexposed photos which were basically a white picture or a dark-black picture... This printer makes sure the Wide films would not go to waste, but the camera gives the element of surprise and it feels great when a good result is obtained and captured on a film without knowing what the outcome would be.
    Just sharing my silly struggle. :)
    Hope you are having fun with this great printer!

    • @cameralabs
      @cameralabs  Před 2 lety +1

      Unfortunately they were all taken on different days. The Wide was a decent digital image printed with the Wide printer, the rest were from instant camera, so I should have stated that. Unfortunately I don't have a wide camera. You have made a good point though, I should get all the cameras at the same time so I can take the same photo with them all for a fairer comparison. My segment here was more about comparing their size, not their quality or style.

    • @cameralabs
      @cameralabs  Před 2 lety +1

      On the WIDE prints, there's a thick white border on one of the long sides, regardless of what orientation your image is. So if you print a portrait / tall / vertical image on the INSTAX Wide, you'll see the thicker border running down one side, which looks a bit lop-sided. It looks best when printing landscape / horizontal images.

The release of this product makes it tempting to revoke that decision, since I also own a Fuji camera, which I'd love to pair this with (and which has USB-C, by the way!), but since I really just got rid of my last micro USB-infested piece of electronic, I likely won't. A great review and don't get me wrong, but that's such a weird product. Why would you use instant film in a portable printer? The prints lack the charm of an actual Instax picture, but look worse than a proper print. They're also less convenient and more expensive. Adding text or emoticons makes me physically cringe. If you like this product, go for it, seriously. As long as you are happy, I'm too. I just want to get it.

    • @joaoaguilar3022
      @joaoaguilar3022 Před 2 lety +1

      It's for the style of the photo and to have the memento of that moment. This types of "polaroid" photos have that kind of vibe.
      You can get a instax camera? yes sure. But film is expensive and you just have one shot at it, miss it and you just throw away money. What if you want to give a photo a way but also want to keep it to save that moment? you have to re shoot and hope that is as good as the first one. What if I forgot to take the (bulky) insta camera? well ... I will always have my phone.
      For the casual broke photographer (me) this meets all those points. I can choose the photo I like and print as many as I want knowing that is a good photo so I don't waste film.
      Also, I agree with the emoticons. What a way of ruining a good photo.

    I’m watching this on my iPad, as indeed I watch most CZcams videos. And I simply can’t see the details. I assume you record in 4K? Don’t! You’ll lose many viewers in that way, and there’s no real benefit. As a webmaster for my chess club (about 15 years ago) I learned that at the time most people didn’t even use 1080, so I had to take that into account. Always cater to the ones with the oldest equipment, and you stand a good chance to please everyone. Oh yes, 4K does have its place, but not in presenting to a wider audience.
