The Fuji Instax line of printers are the most important photo accessory I carry in my bag. No other accessory has opened as many doors or led to so many great experiences than the Instax printers from FUJIFILM. Note - I have not been sponsored by Fuji to say this nor have they given me these printers or film.

Reposting my comment. I agree with you. I’ve used an Instax camera for many years as a lot of my projects are in places where I don’t speak the local language. A photograph can bridge that barrier and open doors and hearts.
Amen! Thank you for reposting!
Especially in this digital age, the Instax printers are magic. Capture the moment, give it physical life and set it free into the world. A nice departure from sitting at a computer, zooming in to 200%, evaluating pixels, exporting to the web and shutting the image away on a hard drive somewhere. I hope Fujifilm releases a black and white version of the square film for the SP-3.
I’d like that as well. I also would love in Instax wide printer!
@@ZackAriasATL They did release a Mono film pack for Sp-3
@@ZackAriasATL looks like you got your wish a year later :-)
There is now a B&W and wide print option. It's almost like Fuji listens to what their customers want.
@@chriskola3822 Fuji users want them to stop to descontinue their film lineup. I want Natura 1600 back!
Dude - video couldn’t have been more perfect. Answered questions I would’ve had once I made the first couple prints. Also, I won’t feel bad for having both these printers. Thank you
Thanks for the great video! I bought the SP 2 in Japan a couple of years ago and I just ordered the new instax wide Link for my birthday. I love using the prints for journaling and I love sending them to friends and family with a birthday card as well. It is exactly as you say: you spread the love and joy around you with these beauties! 💫
If you like the bigger white border on the bottom side, you can use ur traditional method for verticals, Zack. Just be sure to enable the option for automatic rotation in the display menu before you are printing. You doesn't have to enable auto rotation display before shooting, just before printing!
Zac you are such a great person. Do not ever change.
The best of a photo blog: a little technology, a lot of human magic, both from you and from those of us who recognise and use the suggestion. Thanks hugely!
🙌🙌🙌
What a cool little device. People always see photographers running around taking photos, but hardly ever see the photos - this lets people see what the photographer's seeing right there and then, and makes it fun! Great video and thanks for sharing your experience.
Well said!
15:45 "indispensable" tossed the photo into a bin next to table :) Good vid
Totally agree on your statement regarding how this is the most important photo accessory, Zack!
Totally agreed! They're absolutely great for travel.
The Instax prints stuck to my bulletin board also get all the attention when people visit my home. Huge wall of gorgeous framed prints, but nah, what's up with these little rectangles? 😂
Hahaha! Yep!
Did not even know these things existed! I watched your video yesterday, and today I am holding one in my hands.
I always wanted to be able to share some pictures right on the spot with friends (by share I do not mean send them a digital file they will never ever look at again), and now I have one thanks to this video.
While I do not need photographs to strike up a conversation with strangers, I think this will only add to more opportunities and memorable moments.
And finally, I cannot think of an easier way to share the joy of photography with people around you, even if they have zero interest in photography.
Yay!!! Well said. Thank you.
Best video ive seen in ages! Thanks dude, just subscribed!
It’s so great to see you back Zack ! 😊✌🏻
It’s good to be back!
I took mine on a wedding reception shoot. It opened up so many doors! Definitely can highly recommend these. I carry two SP2 printers, one for mono film and one for colour
Heyy! I used it at a reception as well.
Great results! However, going in and out of the playback menu, reconnecting to the printer after each shot taken is a bit fiddly in my experience. Does anyone know if whether it’s possible to set up a Function button for the instax printers. Or is there another quick way to print after each shot?
Curious about the process as well, seems a bit convoluted to go through the menus
NICE review 💪🏼. Love it that you highlighted the orientation of the borders with Fujifilm cameras. THANK YOU 🍻🍺
Awesome Zack! The older I get, even though I left the photo industry, this hits the nail on the head. Photography is about people, experiences... think I wanna get me one of these!! I use a ricoh griii....would make a really compact carry around. Great video sir!
Absolutely.
I like photographing live gigs in bars and cafes and always bring my SP3 and give a print to the musicians at the end of their set. The reaction is always the same: a big smile :)
I’ve never met anyone who didn’t love a print!
Another great video. Love the personal business card ideas. That's exactly what I was thinking during the video.
Excellent video Zack, thank you. Such good advice. I have the Canon version but this looks smaller compact and more easily portable.
I’m new to this channel! Wicked beard and very thorough review! I saw a guy at a party years ago have one of these and now I’m purchasing one! It’s true! You never forget someone with these little gadgets! 📷
Best review of these products by far. Thank you so much
SP3 will meet my X100V soon!
It’s a beautiful combo!
Fantastic story with the bar! When we are allowed out again, I may have to pick one of these little puppies up! Great idea in this age of ‘save to a cloud’ and forget about It! 📸👌
Reposting my last comment with this added. Thank you for showing something that I know most "Professional Photographers" is just junk. Without even looking at it seriously or trying it out themselves. Wonderful video! I have been wanting one of these printers for long time. I always thought that it is not something a professional photographer would use so I never bought one. You have opened my eyes to the real possibilities of showing your work to someone on the spot. Thank you and stay safe.
Thank you! People who start pixel peeping Instax prints are missing the entire point of them!
@@ZackAriasATL Pixel peeping Instax prints is one of the funniest quotes I have ever heard.
I got an sp1 after your first video on them or dedpxl post... Bought it in Japan with an eyefi card. Was great, as I took photos with my exchange classes, had everyone sign them and gave them to our teachers.
Love the evolution of your set, Zack. 🐿
Thanks!
I photographed a wedding a few years ago (best wedding ever!!) I took my Instax wide with me for the party after......... What a hit!!!! They loved it! Loved watching the print just appear in front of their eyes :-) BRILLIANT IDEA :-)
I love my SP2. My daughter needs her own at this point as well. I much prefer this than having a bulky instax camera.
Another super video! Thanks for sharing! Gotta buy one of those printers, think you gave the final push ...
I sure wish I got commissions from Fuji! Thanks, Rob!
so true. these little printers are magic. just ordered the new instax wide printer
Great Zack! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this genius idea Zach. I got this immediately after I got my Fuji X100V and after seeing your video. I've burned through almost 150 films and it was the best photo decision I ever made. People love getting a print of a fleeting moment. Wish they will make a mini link 3 that works directly with the fuji cams
thanks man! for this video!!! so helpful tips!!! THANK YOU !!! Subscribed!!! I'll be looking for one of the intax to carry around.
Thanks Zack. Watched the video.Bought the SP3, very cool, you are right people love the printed pic’s.
Really enjoyed this one, Zack
I have the SP-3 and I use it with my Fujifilm x100v. it is so much fun. I also carry a couple of extra batteries for the SP-3, I don't want to run out of power while printing photos.
Great tips ... I haven't printed a photo in a long time but now you've got me thinking.
Thanks!
Thanks for the re-upload! Tomorrow is my birthday and I've wanted one of these forever, good excuse to pull the trigger!
Oh neat, the white SP-3 is on sale at BH for $99 ($70 off MSRP, $35 off street) - www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1367924-REG/fujifilm_16558085_instax_share_sp_3_smartphone.html/
Happy Birthday, Ian! I hope you enjoy that printer!
@13:46 “stuffing my face with carrots and ranch dressing” 😂😂😂
This video is very impressed for me because I just bought the SP3. I will do same thing which you share the ideas. Thank you very much
Thanks for the video! I keep a Polaroid in the studio. The models love a print!!
Watched this two years after it was uploaded, best video on the Instax printers I've watched so far...
I 1000% agree with you! I think these printers are a no brainers! I love them so much I have an Etsy shop just for frames for them!!
Just Purchased the SP3 and the black frame prints to go with my marketing theme thank you !
I totally agree with you. I took my SP to printer with me to Cuba both times. The last time was at the end of January 2020 before the pandemic hit. I just picked up the 5th and 6th SP2 printer. I’ve got extra batteries for them. And with the use and abuse I go through 2 a year. Little did I know Fuji discontinued them at the end of last year! I bought the last 2 printers in Chicago. I have over 100 sheets of instax film. I carry my X100F and printer with me all the time in my small sling. While the square SP3 is OK. I don’t want my images cropped spuare. I don’t feel like selling my 100 F just to get the100V which has Bluetooth and will work with the instax MiniLink printer which is Bluetooth only, no WiFi 😩
Fascinating video. Just watched your Cuba video on the Fuji channel where you print out portraits to people. It’s the modern equivalent of a Polaroid print, as you pointed out. I wasn’t sure if it was film or just an inkjet printer; if it’s film, that makes it more interesting. I can see how it would be a winner at a wedding, for instance. Could very quickly become expensive, though.
You’re simply the best Z!
Thx for the reupload 👍👍😎
Yeah, I couldn’t have that last video on my channel. I still don’t really know what happened other than a glitch in the Matrix. It just never got fully processed. Thank you for watching again!
Excellent video! The Cuba video has had me thinking about getting an Instax for the sole reason of giving the photos away to people you've taken a picture of
I forgot to mention in this video but another nice thing about handing out prints is it absolves you from having to email a photo to someone later. I’m the worst at getting a photo back to someone via email. Hand them a print and everyone is happy!
I can personally attest to this. I was shooting a graduation party and handed out prints from an sp-2. People were thrilled.
I saw your Cuba video and saw that very point you made here. I have actually planned a project based on this exact idea as a segway device. Thank you for this in depth video explaining all of this!!! 👍📸
Glad to be of service. Thank you, David!
Zack Arias Thank YOU! 👍📸😉
wow. thank you for the tip. awesome video.
Awesome story to share! Must of been a fun night getting back at 4 am, thanks to your printer!
Great Tools!
Ah! That’s much better Zack, thank you. Great video...
Thanks, Mac. I don’t know what happened. The source video was fine. I think it just got stuck in processing hell and never came out the other side.
Fuji should sponsor you, cracking sales job, thought about it before now you've made my mind up for me and I can see a project coming on. Cheers Zack.
That's perfect for my street portraits project! Thanks Zack!
It’s awesome for street portraits!
I think it’ll be a game changer because I usually take the portraits and people leave me their email or they follow me and dm me after a few days asking for their pictures but this way I think it’ll be awesome because they already have something tangible. And the business card sticker idea on the back is even better!
I like the OG one and I liked the update!
They definitely made improvements from the SP1.
Never thought Zack will say "Where I am kind of like the lowest person on the call sheet" .. .. can not imagine that world... Thank you - I have been tempted to buy one of these for a long time, and I think I should pick up the Square Format
Welcome to the real world of Zack. I ain’t all that. 😂
@@ZackAriasATL it indeed is not.. this was so good for my ego ....
Thanks again for sharing
Brilliant!
Great review! Just got the white one from your Amazon link.
This video got me thinking.... So I now have an Instax film back for my RB67! I'm going to try it out today for the first time! I hope to take it out into the public and use it as that "Door opener" you spoke of. I have high hopes! Thank you!
Just imagine.... Street photography, with an RB67.... 😳😂😂😂
The RB67 as a door opener? It sure makes a good door stop if you need to keep that door open for awhile! 😂 I do love the RB and RZ cameras. Absolute tanks. That satisifing film advance sound.
@@ZackAriasATL It would be an awesome door stop.... 🤔 😂
I am falling in love with this camera and system. The film back was... Lets just say.... The same price as the camera and possibly two additional lenses, but if all goes well, the money will make itself back soon enough. 🙂
Just purchased one after first learning about this from @christurner and then you! Thank you!!
Thanks, it’s clear these should be standard issue for every street, travel and bar-hopping 😉photographer.
Absolutely! Well... when we get to travel and bar hop again. Cheers to the return of those days.
The 4am story is great!!
Great video! I am a somewhat new fujifilm user, and have had a instax mini 90 for a while now. I love the idea of printing from my X-100V or X-t4! Do you get more use out of your square or mini printer?
That was great Thank you.
Thank you!
a "like" for you .. mate!
well I found your video searching for something completely different from your topic, i don't know how you did I was searching something for motorcycle traveling, etc ..... well what I would like to mention is, how correct you are, while you are describing your experience at that bar.......simply we all have "Terras" (TB) of memories unprinted, lost, or "saved" and well archived somewhere in our pc folders, old memory cards, anyways where ever we have them just forgotten, and we have never watched them again.... Really i will get one of those "boxes" for sure... CHEERS MATE! p.k.
1080!!!!! I know it’s tough to re-upload but thank you!
I knew it.
Live and learn!
Thank you for sharing that empty cartidge to frame idea. I was about to throw that away.
LOL your SP2 print Amazon link takes me to Wireless Earbuds ;)
I plan on playing with an instax mini 40 for similar reasons as you gave.
Awesome!
We have the 3 main inxtax printers and a Polaroid Lab... I absolutely love the things. I love taking people's pictures and handing them a print.
We bust them out at our wedding and had tons of prints at the end of the day to slap up on our living room wall.
I tried using an instant camera and hated it (Polaroid & Fijimax), but the printers are the perfect solution for me. I can take/edit good pictures with my phone, and print them on instant film.
Commenting because you re-uploaded. Gotta help get your statistics back up!
Hahaha! Thank you! Yeah. It really killed the stats for sure having to reupload but I just couldn’t have that one on my channel. Not sure what happened to it.
I also have similar experience that till date I haven’t find any issue with Instax films that passed through the scanner at airports.
Classic Zac! :)
Seems like Fuji has a new version of this coming out next week. Hope to hear your thoughts on it
Hey Zack! Which lens hood is that on your X100?
I have a SP-3, but I have the impression the colors are always off. It’s a nice little printer, and you can really use it to break the ice, but you should never expect color fidelity from it.
Yeah. It’s not a portfolio printer but it does the job. I’ve never handed one to someone and they then got upset that the color was off! 😂
Reposting the comment as well. I could not agree more, only problem, as noted, they print too dark. I used to use up all my 6xx format Polas after my shoots with my Mamiya RZ walking the streets around the location shooting strangers. It was always something really cool.
nice idea the framing with the empty packs. A pity i throw so many to the trash, ahahah
Wondering for the small prints would you recommend the share sp2 vs the mini link for the photo quality?
I bought an SP3 after I saw its potential in your Cuba video. I can send people their portraits via mobile phone but Instax leaves them with something physical, which has far more value.
Agreed!
I miss printed photos, I am going to save up for that.
Cool stuff Zak; so it's akin to reimagined "Polaroid" film? I still have 4x5 Polaroids in empty 'roid boxes....from the 80's-early 2000's. Sometimes "new" tricks....are old. How's the Quality? Do you use it as a "tool"...for composition, or novelty...FOR clients, yourself, etc.?
It’s very similar to Polaroid. Fuji made instant film packs for years but could not get into the US market due to Polaroid having a fairly air tight patent on instant pack film here in the US. At least that’s what I understand. They couldn’t really start selling and marketing it here until Polaroid stopped producing film but that was near the end of the era where pack film was already dying. The quality isn’t portfolio print quality but it’s 100% acceptable for what it is. Everyone loves them. Clients. People. Myself. Kids. Everyone thinks they are cool.
Thank you for sharing your experience with INSTAX printers. Very welcome.
I would have paid you a drink on meeting without a print. ;)
Hahaha! Thanks!
We missed you Zack.
Thanks, Nube! It’s good to be back.
@@ZackAriasATL please don't leave us anymore. When are you bringing the strobist photography back?
For those who can't afford a good photo printer (like an Epson or a Canon Pixma Pro) I think the Instax printers are probably the next best, affordable, thing. I mean there's something to be said about holding a print in your hand versus just looking at a picture on a screen. With a print, you have something tangible you can touch and feel and hang on the wall. And to clients, that's also an important thing too, especially with weddings. It's one thing to have digital pictures of a wedding, but to have physical prints you can put into a photo album, that's something different, and something tangible. I think that's one thing we (As a society) have lost with digital cameras and the Internet. Most things are posted to social media or online galleries, but fewer things are being printed these days. Of course, the printing trend, I feel, might be coming back (hence the Instax and Canon mini printers).
Thanks for the recommendation! I noticed the price dropping on the SP-3 and wondering if it's a great time to grab one or if the square format is about to be discontinued. Any Fujifilm insights?
I noticed this as well! Any info anyone?
IMO the square format is here to stay. Looks like fujifilm is retaining the square due to the popularity of instagram format. At least thats what i can say for the trend in my country. I see fujifilm is bringing in square films in other varieties, as they have in minis.
I just got the instax wide. Loving it more than the square though.
Zack: Thinking of ordering one. Do you find the version 2 or 3 is more popular?
Hey Zack, do you know how you would possibly make these little printers Airprint compatible? These things would be AWESOME if I could just get them to print without having to go through the fuji app itself.
Hi Zack, I'm noticing the SP2 has been replaced by the Instax Mini-link or some such name. Anyway, wondering if you've tried the new one? If so, any quick thoughts?
I haven’t seen it or tried it yet.
The iPhone app update released two weeks ago has ruined the print quality of the Mini Link, which is similar to the SP2. I’m curious if printing direct from camera is still functioning well for you?
Cool to have the direct print option if you're using a Fuji, just wondering if anyone's got any insights into how well the competition compares to the instax printers for this type of usage.. canon Selphy or Polaroid mint? they seem to have larger, cheaper, better quality prints ?
I have the Canon 1200 something or another printer that makes 4x6 inch prints. It does a pretty good job but it’s slower, can’t print from camera directly, and the one I have doesn’t have a battery. I think one is available as an accessory. Even then, it’s not super portable.
The new Canon QX10 does look to be a direct competitor with the SP-3, similar size prints & built in [weak ] battery. Had a look at some reviews of the Polaroid Mint and it seems to produce poor quality prints, shame as it's small & cheap.
How long does the battery last? I have the canon tiny printer, the cp1000, had it for a few years, the battery is bulky, and doesn’t last all too long. When I originally got it, that was my experience. I do have the instax camera, so I’ve been taking that with me.....
I think the battery will last for about ten packs of film if I remember correctly. So, about 100 prints. I don’t print THAT much any given day. When I was in Cuba I printed about 2 packs a day as I was out and about and I maybe charged it twice for the week I was there.
hello just wanna ask what fuji cameras are compatible to sp2 and sp3? thank youuu :)
