  • Hello and Welcome to epsiode 64 of Trash to Track.
In this episode we take a look at a Hornby HST power car upgraded from the ex-Lima power car.
These models are known for dodgy soldering joints so lets take a look and see if we can rectify the issues
    Thanks for looking.

If memory serves me correct, the Lima HST lighting was the same as it is in this model with the power car lighting in both directions and no light in the dummy car. I agree that a lighting system similar to Hornby's original tooling should be the least to expect.

Thanks for sharing this video Dan, I've got quite a lot of Triang/Hornby locos but when its stamped made in China I'm very wary, my old HST Hornby Swallow design looks a far better loco, i know its old now but for me older models made better only my opinion thanks John

I purchased one of these sets when I first started getting back into model railways and was surprised how cheaply it was put together and the lack of lights in the dummy end, the coach is not much better as aftermarket ones dont match it at all and it has a off putting bright red plastic interior which does not look great, have since added directional leds both ends and lighting in the coach, will have to paint that interior to make it look a little better one day.

so many people sing hornbys praises saying they produce a quality product and hound me for calling it what it is cheap chinese tat sold at quality goods prices , i have scrapped chinese chassis for minor but unrepairable problems you could fix in a few minutes on the old british products

Not buying anything made in China this year; if I still had my model railway it would be vintage pre China models. Made in Hong Kong when it was British would be allowed though...
