I have a tip regarding the Portugal focus (restore the Iberian union) to make this even more effective:
- Don't start the focus early on
- Declare war on Portugal the traditional way when you can (world tension over 50%)
- Puppet them after your victory
- Choose the focus (restore the Iberian union) now
- Since they are your Puppet they will accept the Union and you get Portugal as core territory

I think that a guide to the kingdom of Franco-Spain would be a fine adition to this video
Its really easy tbh, just rush the correct monarchy and choose Intervention in Spanish civil war. You must be in Legitimist Alliance with Carlists before choosing to intervene in there tho. Then just beat rest of Spain down with ease and wait for Carlists to start coring their terrritory and after that you can pick the focus to annex Spain.
Its buggy, i tried and i couldnt do the focus, because carlist spain never rose up. You need the 4 way civil war to realy utilize the bourbon France tree which is realy annoying. And you get no cores on Spain or any bonuses. Britain invites you to the allies, but kicks you out randomly. Its fun, because you get a better eco then the republican France but still too weak to realy hold off the Germans if you are unlucky.
@@sososgosmacko not really buggy. Carlists didn’t revolt irl so historical focuses must be off. Also the cores come only when the carlists core all of Spain with the compliance requirements. Britain likely kicks you out because of the world tension you have generated.
@@sososgosmacko cores come in when the leader of carlist Spain is also Alphonse, who should also be the leader of France.
You can only core Spain as France only if Carlist Spain spawns. They will not spawn in historical most of the time because Spain always goes Franco. The only way to get them to spawn is if you are very lucky and manage to send some volunteers early and prevent the Nationalists from capturing Pais Vasco or Burgos before they can take the focus Fuse the Parties, and they are usually able to secure Pais Vasco early because the Republicans usually do a very poor job at defending it.
If they indeed spawn, you cannot join in the fun too early either. If you join in the war (not send volunteers) before you switch ideology, you will be joining the Republicans instead.
excellent video. The carlist civil war went completely different from how I did it a while back. I almost feel like trying it again ;-) Spain is a very interesting nation, after all
I very much enjoy playing Spain, I just wish the Republican path had more options to deal with Russia
Like 99% of its focus tree is focused on the civil war though, the rest, its very minor stuff, but holy sht, the anarchist Spain is OP if they win, simply because they can get cores on literally every state in the game, EVERY STATE

the rng on the carlist breakaway always hoses me. End up with my army instantly encirled in 5 places scattered across the map. Just can't seem to finish off the republicans fast enough even following this guide.
Don’t accept the volunteers as it’ll be very difficult for you to heat them when you switch to the Carlists

When you start the civil war (anarchist split from republicans, or Carlists from Fangalists) all volunteers you’ve accepted get booted, for some reason.
Hey man I just had this achievement but with slight different strategy. After landing to UK, I rushed the VP's and cut the british army into two but stopped in front of London and let the underequipped British army bash against my army. They suffered massive casualties and therefore I had like %33-34 warscore by the time I decided to end the war. In the peace deal I took all the coastal provinces of France + provinces which borders Germany and therefore preventing the AI from taking whats left in between. After that I took out Vichy France 1 vs 1 and got the achievement. It all ended in May 1940.
This brings back nostalgia to when I stumbled across your first carlist Spain video on reddit awhile back. This channel has grown so much since then

Awesome videos, you've helped me get a couple of challenging achievements by now!
An idea for coastal encirclements; the ai quite often will try to escape pockets by sea, I let them and set up localised and temporary early submarine 'bathtub' spam to catch the troops out, saves good combat equipment (hurts supply even if they don't attempt to relocate also)

The so-called "Central River" is actually called Tajo.
And it even means Central River in Spanish!
I wish hoi4 showed river names, would make it easier to coordinate in MP, and it'd just be great for immersion

I hate spanish civil wars rng when you play as off-shoot factions that have rng to their spawning like Falangists and Carlists. Anarchists are fine since they always spawn to coast to specific place.
I had so many games fail because half my army was encircled upon spawning in.
idk I just used the Army of Africa to make a breakthrough state by state after removing debuff unplaned offensive and you'll never get encircled

Just did New Spain -> Spain in rt56 Honduras today and fighting anywhere in that damn peninsula is pure suffering, this video looks like suffering x10 and now i've found what i'm gonna sink my next weekend into
I used your guide along with HatlessSpider's guide and, after a few failures, managed to get the achievement in January 1940. Thanks for the effort you put in on this.

Truly remarkable method. I did it in 1.9 and only managed to do it by non-historical (UK not involved) and paradrop France.
Could you also do a video on reforming the Spanish empire? I know it’s not an achievement or formable nation or anything but it would be amazing
A way to prevent war with the axis is to rush down to retake the spanish netherlands and then attack france from there giving you war score, occupation and casualties.
The Italians get Victor as their king due to the “Assassinate Mussolini” focus, when Paradox designed that, they made it simple for themselves and just made Victor the default for Non-Aligned Italy. While the German Non-Aligned leaders are all event spawned, (most likely due to their rather insane buffs, while with Victor, you get his stuff regardless)

Pro tip- to get the Munich disagreement u just want to spam fighters and some transport planes, research paratroopers first and then drop them in Munich when they declare war (also build up ur forts)

You don't need to assign troops to a naval invasion order for it to start preparing. In fact, you can prepare more naval invasions than you can assign units to. You could have 1,000 naval invasion orders all prepared at once if you wanted. I use that all of the time.

Im watching because im my game im Portugal with 2 tank divisions of 180 light tanks and 1 battalion of heavy tanks each. All divisions both armor and infantry have a battalion of anti air. I have tier 2 strat bombers, heavy fighters and fighters so i can gain complete airsuperiority. My navy has dozens of t2 submarines with about 6 destroyers and a heavy cruiser or two. Wish me luck

How do you invade the UK? Those zones are full of the royal navy when i play
Wtf....I did my best civil war win as Carlistas by Dec 37. Took Portugal and finished the focus tree as you suggested. Declared war on France to help Germany. Had my Army of 24 shock divisions ready to invade UK....and nothin until August 41. Could not get naval supremacy until then so sent an Army in late 39 to help Italy secure Suez and down to Ethiopia, even managing to get up to 14% war score. But invasion of UK was so late could not capitulate them (surrender limit was down to 25%) and USA joined Allies after Japan attacked Philippines. Thus UK troops got worn down and beaten back. So frustrating thanks to RNG. Dammit.

you should of started the justification on vichy france right before you finished off the allies, when you are at war with a major all justifications take significantly less time
He could have also simply kept destroying the UKs divisions they deploy in London and avoid war with the axis altogether
took me until 1952 to defeat Germany and 1954 to defeat italy (second time) and italian russia and german russia...75 million axis casualties later....went to peace conference, i own practically all of europe but no achievement yet?? i released north african countries as pupppets so i didn't have to fight axis there...i'll try annexing them again

The British dlc introduces the puppet system Wich is really useful along with a really good focus tree for the UK. La resistance Introduces a spy agency Which is required for most guides. No step back is also very good because of the tree.
for the useless desert puppets I like sending them a few hundred spare airplanes. sometimes they end up giving air sup in some forgotten corner of the war.

I tried this on non historical, Mexico declared war on everyone in Central America and also the United States, the United States joined the allies, I managed to take Gibraltar after invading facist Britain and getting a peace deal. It’s currently 1950 and I have to cross the Atlantic to peace out America

They join eventually, if left alone. At the end of their focus tree, they can become a full axis member and ask Germany for their old land. Or they join the Axis when the USA declares on them (Operation Torch). Their land in Africa is handled with border war mechanics with the UK since LAR

Trying this now...it took me 3 more months to conquer England bc I didnt encircle London enough and they made a hell of a line. Now its 1942 June and Soviets are about to fall. My divisions blow because i've been stockpiling to annex UK. Im about to get UK...praying my green divisions can hold the line while my elites blitzkrieg Italy. This is one of the most fun games I've had in terms of a challenge but the civil war is SO SO SO tedious. I beat each at/before the date in this video but you have to micro every single unit individually... After UK fell Germany instantly declared on Soviets and has been raping them since 1940. The one thing I wanted to try but didn't was taking out the USA after puppeting Canada. I would be ok waiting to attack until after soviets fell if I had USA manpower and factories behind me, but I feel like this is going to be one of the few achievements I lose after going so deep into it. I think Switzerland might also be good to take for the sake of bleeding German lines in the mountains for this strategy and allowing even swifter conquest of Italy.

Instead of facing the french head on, I naval invaded around the Pyrenees and paradropped on Paris. France surrendered to me instead of the germans. I still had to do the encircle London and wait the British to deploy divisions there, kill them and repeat a bunch of times to get my war participation and actually get France in the peace deal.
Later, when I declared on Germany, it was really hard to push into the Benelux until my industry catched up and I was able to put some medium tanks in the field.
