  • After a 3+ hour rain delay, the Mets (24-14) take on the Cubs (18-19) at a soaked Shea Stadium. Jorge Sosa gets the start for the Mets. Sosa pitches effectively through seven innings, surrendering only 1 hit. The Mets are led by Damion Easley's 2 run homer. Carlos Gomez chips in with 2 hits and his first major league RBI. The Cubs' only run scores courtesy of a single by former Met Cliff Floyd.
The game ends a few minutes shy of 1am. Due to the quick turnover of a 1pm start scheduled that same day, Willie Randolph will rest a number of his regulars in the closing game of the series.
18:14 for the start of the game for those who want to skip some of the booth commentary during the rain delay

Hey, do you have the game from 2005 where Pedro Martinez hit Jose Guillen and the benches cleared? Would love to see that game again!
