Thank you for posting this. I’m not sure the exact game of this series but an 8 year old me was flipping through the channels of my tv when I found I had SNY and one of these games was on. I was instantly hooked. This series made me a Mets fan.

Piazza was with the Athletics in 2007, so many were excited to see Piazza play in Shea again in his final MLB season, but Piazza was on the DL while this series happened.
Mets-Athletics also did face each other in 2005 in Oakland in a 3 game series, for the first time they have ever faced each other since the 1973 World Series that our beloved Mets almost won
But this is the first time that Oakland visits Shea Stadium since games 3-4-5 in the 1973 WS
