  • Gregg Renfrew (Founder & CEO, Beautycounter) spoke at the 2014 Nantucket Project.
    About The Nantucket Project
    The Nantucket Project is one of the world’s great gatherings, each year hosting preeminent thinkers, leaders and innovators in a wide range of fields.
    We focus on the intersection of art and commerce - one fueled by passion, the other by reason. In every organization - whether it’s a business, a philanthropy or a creative endeavor - those two forces jostle to achieve the right balance.
    In the process, values are determined. We believe TNP is the only event of its kind that rigorously examines those values.

    I've known this for years but am in shock that the government doesn't care about us at all

    I want to become a professional makeup artist but the amount of toxicity and lies that has been spread in cosmetic brands is far more than I can fathom. I am sick of not knowing what's actually in my products and it hurts me even more knowing that it's harming us, human beings and animals. I don't want to become a part of an industry that has no care in the world but to sell there recycled garbage of chemical based materials. We need to redefine was true beauty is, we are the people who need to make the change happen. It will not come from the government. It will not come from authority. It has to come from us.

      Tony - you should definitely become more familiar with the Beautycounter brand. We are one of the only companies taking safety and performance of products to the extent that we are. Every single ingredient in our products is listed and we created a list of over 1500 ingredients that we will never use in our products. Check our NEVER LIST against the ingredients in what you're currently using. www.beautycounter.com/en-ca/the-never-list/
      Christy Coleman was one of the first make-up artists in the US who wanted to "green" up her kit. She is an amazing asset to Beautycounter as our Head of Innovation so you can rest assured that our products are not only safe, but extremely high performing. :)

    What do you expect? I don't mean to be pessimistic, but if you did tell people the truth how many would honestly stop using the toxic stuff? Some people would rationalize it by stating that they don't feel any physical harm from it. As a nation we like certain things, sometimes cheap but often times fast. By the time some people learn the consequences it is too late to reverse the damage.

    • @aseriouslollygagger5734
      @aseriouslollygagger5734 Před 6 lety +3

      Taura Helms You are right, people prioritize looks over healthy practices. However I heard about this in the 90's and only wear makeup a couple times a year. People think I'm weird but they also think I'm 10 years younger than I really am. It does not pay to be vain, in fact why pay to give yourself wrinkles then pay for a product to smooth them out later? It may be socially acceptable but it doesn't mean that I have to join in. Some people listen to the warnings, but many women are insecure and feel the need to interact with the world from behind a mask of toxic chemicals.

    Is there any stage of your production that your products are tested on animals...not only the finished product?

    • @ashleytejada5395
      @ashleytejada5395 Před 6 lety +1

      Hi. Figured I would answer your questions. Here is from the FAQ on the Beautycounter website. Beautycounter does not test any of our products on animals, nor do we ask others to do so. We do not have our own manufacturing facility; we contract with several independent formulators. These formulators also do not conduct animal testing.

    Misleading, you don't need a new law for the regulatory agencies to ban ingredients. Not saying the FDA is doing a great job, but a new law is not the issue. Science requires more than anecdotal examples. This is a marketing video
