  • Have you ever had a NEAR DEATH experience? I did just the other morning when I reached in to a barrel and found FURRY DEATH waiting!! Actually it was just a little opossum and he was pretty frightened. We decided to let him go and I will tell you why in this video!

    I watched every second of this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially the advice to not leave free food lying about, the UFO light that appeared to want to beam you up, the feral chickens, and that door to nowhere.

    They eat ticks! Very helpful! And also are almost immune to rabies b/c of their low body temperature

    So, you can pick the Opossum up by the tail and put him wherever you want. If they're really little they might climb back up their body. Just shake them and they'll drop. back down. I used to volunteer at emergency wildlife rehab.

    Great job! Possums are so ugly that they are cute :) We don't kill them around here either. They get into my greenhouse and eat the cat food we leave out for the yard cats. They aren't scared of us. We can be in the greenhouse with them and they don't really mind us much. I love how you explained that once an opossum got into your coop, that you secured the coop! I wish that was the consensus with chicken owners. Secure coops save so much time, effort, money, and lives

    Possums scare me! Kids came in one day saying there was a mean cat under their slide. Went out to scare it away and got scared instead! It was a mama possum and her babies. Yikes!

    Brian I need prayer!! We have had 2 snakes in our house over the last 3 days!!! I think I may need a snake handler come here if this keeps up. Thankfully they were both chicken snakes and (before PETA attacks me) we released them "alive" back outside. Whew! I am not young enough for this kind of stuff. LOL

    Click bait title, but hey Brian, I also love critters, and the thumbnail pic of your video just told me to click on the video!😂Seeing a Possum playing dead, probably thought: I've been discovered by the human intruder, well, I'll just play dead and he'll go away. They make good eating, but you being so busy with farm chores, and Mrs. Flannel Farms would probably not want the hassle of skinning, cleaning the 'possum even if it means eating ya'll's grits without any possum innards. 😉As for the warehouse light, WOW, a big total difference and then ya got photobombed by a pair of crazy chickens who were stubbornly wanting to lay an egg in your workshop! 😂 👍

    The brushtail possums that someone foolishly introduced from Australia into NZ, spread to invasive numbers all through out our country, making a huge impact on the forests and bird population. New Zealand was a land of birds and lizards prior to human inhabitance, with 2 species of bats and an extinct mouse being the only mammals, prior to arrival. The extinction of an estimated 42% of NZ's endemic bird species has been caused by humans. From hunting, deforestation, and the introduction of predators. It is said that it would take 50 million years to regain the diversity. While wild cats, stoats, wessels and rats have played their fair part, the possum has been a major contributor next to humans deforestation. Ironically the same possums are protected in Australia.

      @russellstraker8040 Před 2 měsíci +1

      They're quite different to those American possums which to me resemble large rats. Some countries rescue weasels stoats ferrets and the likes totally absurd to a nature loving Kiwi eh?

      I think as long as the lights are 5000 lumens it should be good for grow lights. I use led shop lights that some are 5000 and some are 2500 I usually use 2 together for the lower lumens. Place the seed trays as close as possible to your lights and raise as the seeds start sprouting. I have successfully used them for the last 3 years. Hope this helps
