Wow, that's a lot of meat! I'm glad you raised the cows mostly on grass. Wow, Angus cattle. I like how you included all the things you needed to raise the two cows! That meat looks great! We've only raised pigs so you are way ahead of us! Great job Flannel family! Have a wonderful July 4th!
Thank you! You too!
We get a quarter of beef every year, one cow split between 4 family members as part of crop share payment, haven't bought grocery store beef in 2 decades. We drive 16 hours round trip for ours 😂 and several years we've purchased an extra quarter just to keep the freezer stocked.
Fantastic
Great job, I'm happy for you.
Nice! one day it would be cool to do this myself.
Very nice....it also let me know I got a great deal as well. We paid $6 a pound across the board for a mostly grass fed cow from a Mennonite dairy farm. They were Jersey's but they still taste great and buttery yellow fat instead of that white stuff from the store. My wife and I would still love a milking cow but need to get a field cleared out first. We have 32acres of mostly palmettos and scrub oaks but our pigs are starting to put a dent in it. Love the videos.
Sounds like you're down south! And that is a great deal! I'm sure you guys will get a lot done on 32 acres! We have 15 but most needs clearing and thinning.
that's some pretty high quality and I would say affordable, especially with knowing all the inputs into your meat. Looking forward to being able to raise my own beef, non-grass fed beef goes straight through me 😬.
😊😊👍👍💕💕
Very nice! Great price & you know what went into your cows!
Exactly!
Nice! great price when you talk about those select cuts that are pricey at a store.
Very true!
We have freezer alarms on all our freezers. We also lock the upright freezers every time we get something out. We had a door left ajar and lost a compressor once. Caught both in time, but we have the alarms now as a safety.
Can you send me a link to the alarm types you bought?
I tried, but it keeps getting deleted. We got the AcuRite Wireless Digital Fridge and Freezer Thermometer with Alarm
Copy, thank you. I'm not sure why it deleted. Maybe youtube doesn't allow links
It doesn't get better than that.
Job well done! I would be so pleased with that price breakdown and take home. Out of all the animals I hear that cows are the easiest to raise vs sheep/pig/turkey- would you agree?
Niiiiiice! Well done, Flannel Fam! 👍😊🙏♥️
"Millenial city dorks trying to do country things"-
Is the slogan of the 2024 national homesteading convention 😂
The gangs all here! 👋
Haha, I should add this to my shirts.
How many acres were the cows on? Did you rotate them through multiple paddocks?
Two acres and no, we had planned on it, but we had too many cows on the acreage. Six in total. We are downsizing the herd and adding acreage so we can rotate them. We currently have the fields broken up into three sections, but it is all open because it isn't big enough.
I didn't think you should add the cost of the trailer & fencing. They are not a 1 use item. You will use them multiple times & possible for other things besides beef. They will be around for years to come.
You're right, however I could not have done the cows without putting those in, so it is a cost, however that won't count next time. That's why I did it both ways.
