It’s possible there’s an association that he might be subconsciously avoiding situations potentially threatening sobriety such as a toxic relationship. Relationships going bad could certainly act as a trigger. Just throwing out that as a possibility. Something else could be since he’s self employed, and accustomed to doing his work his way without the threat of distractions. Seems like in general there isn’t many found memories of relationships/sexual experiences providing any positive influence to his life.
