No, I haven't had any issues with Ole Betsie since I bought her 07 other than replace the chains which imo weren't bad when I changed them out. Your problem is probably the DESS under that rubber key or the relay under bonnet. They used to have a problem with that I know. Did you go on DOOTALK and check for some of that type issues. Great bunch on there. Keep in touch.
didnt replace the top sproket just chains and guides. didnt know there was a recall on the sproket!

How did you get the front guide out mine id stuck as a buck
Never had any trouble. one small screw to remember I think and it came right off
