You missed a crucial part when Gabriel was talking to David.
"You were so close David. You had it all figured out. The Stage was set for you." but there's 1 crucial line after that clarifies what you think is entirely wrong.
"Yet you still managed to follow the Shepard." David was someone important that would've figured out crucial details with Thatcher that would solve everything. Yet, he fell to O'Brien, he fell to the shepard, and now he can no longer fulfill that purpose.
"With contorted flesh and broken bones I made myself known" might be referring to the fact that one of the first public contacts with Intruder was when Ruth and Davis set up the camera in Murray household and as a result they got photos of unseen force tampering with Jude Murray's body that was disfigured (and censored for us). He literally made his existance be known by puppeteering a broken corpse around.
That was my first thought. Don't know if it's thr right one, but it's what I was thinking.

For clarity and stuff:
1. yep, jonah's dead. Alex confirmed he was killed offscreen (not sure by what tho)
2. In a deleted tweet, Spidey (Evelin's actress) showed a screenshot of Eve being accepted for a desk job with the police department so that's likely why she's walking around asking for Thatcher. (Dave mentioned he had a good friend from the police department in the first part)
3. The whole event of Vol. 333 (when Ruth died and Thatcher got his alternate) was 1992. that would place Dave and Thatcher's phone call in 2009.
4. According to Alex, Dave's brain just kinda exploded

seeing them animated makes it less creepy in my opinion. The unsettling feeling of the still image, like it could move anytime and you wouldn't notice it it's what makes it horrorfying. But it still pretty well made, the animations are sick

it is absolutely my worst nightmare, it absolutely terrifies me, but I can't look away from this series as the story keeps drawing me in

I didn't notice that until my third watch, it's fascinating how many little details like that Vol 4 has that you don't always see right away

If the intruder is supposed to be a representation or similiar in role to God then Jonah running away from him and getting punished (albeit in slightly different ways) is an interesting parallel to the biblical story of Jonah
Intruder is not god he is Satan he says to Adam do you remember my face and it shows the show Adams was watching when he was a kid and make imaginary friend aka a alternate probably Satan takes real Adam and replaces him with a alternate Adam that doesn't realize he's a alternate version of Adam like sleeper agents that's why when the intruder say when you look in the mirror you see the same monsters in your bedroom still confused go to wendigang channel and go to live and scroll down to find wendigoon actually be good at theorizing unlike matpat.

I agree with the concept of technology being presented as god. I think Stanly might be from the first face studio and then the impostor is Stanly in face studio 2 and his ai is evolving enough to use technology to leave the digital world and come into the real world.

The way I view this, the alternates look for whatever way is easiest to reach the largest amount of people most effectively. First they used religion, then they used television, and now with Face Studio they’re moving onto computer programs. My guess is the next step is video games or VR. Just my guess

Yeah that's a pretty good analysis. I also thought like with the face studio that that the alternates were now utilizing this relatively new technology (seeing as we've seemed to have progressed in time) to 'convert' more people. They were using widespread software as a mass-consumption medium that's sure to grab a whole boatload more people, so that analysis that if they were using this modern pc software around the 2000's and that before they used television and religion as those mass-consumption or mass mediums of communication to transmit their bad vibes is pretty cool.

17 years ago Ruth and thatcher went to Adams house, Adam created an alternate and it killed his mother and father and then killed Ruth, that same alternate followed Thatcher to the police station and seemingly copied his appearance.
Not only did it copy Thatcher's appearance at the station, but just after Thatcher escaped and abandoned Ruth it copied his voice, got into the phone lines, and called off the backup Thatcher called that would've saved her.
@@MythicRanger2401 No thatcher was calling for back up to the mandela police station because every single cop was just gone and he was racing back to HQ fleeing from the Murray house.
@@tgreaux5027 The alternate already copied his voice when they arrived at Adam’s house to investigate. There’s also a possibility that jude on the phone line with davis was probably an alternate instead back in vol.333 which means he copied his voice before the visit to the murray home.
@@tgreaux5027 It's not entirely clear who was operating the radios. It could have been the real Thatcher or the alternate trying to lure police to the station as well. It copied his voice at the investigation at the Murray house

Would like to add that A: you can hear the original TTS voice underneath his current voice (use headphones and listen very carefully); B: he’s still got the voice of O’Brian so he hasn’t fully gone into full Gabriel mode yet.

I think that bit of talking during the video Adam sent Sarah wasn't Jonah, but instead Adam himself sending out a cry for help. You hear him talking about how the computer is messing with his words. This seems to be confirmed later when he listens to the intruder, who ends their conversation with "Your skin is not your own. You're not the real you." Only to be interrupted by a distraught Sarah, asking who Adam was talking to and begging him to call her back so she can have answers. Also forgive me if this ends up being what was said in the video I'm writing this about 12 minutes before it ends because I couldn't restrain myself any longer lmao!
The fact that the line about the computer messing with his words is right before the Face Studio section seems important

I think that Adam is a special kind of Alternate where a Alternate and a human mind can coexist in the same body.
I theorize that Face Studio 2 is a new way of assimilating Alternates into human bodies, where the uploading of your face is counted as a invitation, since they can access your personal data and all that through the program. This is supported through the scene where Adam goes “PLEASE JUST GET THE F*CK OUT OF MY HEAD”, since it’s implied that a Alternate is taking the things that Adam intends on doing and sort of pops in and changes that, thus creating the effect of Adam’s words being manipulated in the online messages with Sarah.
Much like the Biblical Adam being the one to introduce sin in this universe, the Mandela Adam is the one to introduce a new race of Alternates. Alternates can now coexist with people in their minds, and they can take over whenever they want.

I think what may have happened is Thatcher brought that Face Studio 2 into the police station. It found a way to access all the mugshots taken (all usually three photos from the front and each side) and from there ran rampant. It would explain why it's only a local phenomenon, and why the police department and the police in general play a big role in this story

Conversely, having “their prayers” may be a more straightforward way to imply that Adam, being the “prophet”, has provided enough chaos and evil for the false biblical members to take receive the hopeless prayers of sufferers.
Thought: Davis is a British name derived from the name David. If we have Adam, Eve(lyn), Mark, Sarah, Ruth and Jonah (all biblical names) is it too farfetched that Thatcher Davis is David? David, a man thrown into a den of hungry lions but was saved by God passifying the lions? In this case, Davis is thrown into a world of Alternates and not only trying to survive but wanting to stop the Alternates from hurting others.
Daniel was thrown in the Lion's den. David killed Goliath, formed a band of giant slayers, then ultimately became king.

the fact that Adam was an alternate the whole entire time was the best damn twist ever, it really just makes certain parts insanely cool. Like how Adam didnt react to the toddler assessment test, how he's so uncaring to Jonah, his attraction to all things alternate, the fact that the alternates didn't kill him but just asked "you don't remember me"? IT'S ALL SO GOOD

That being said if you think about it, i feel like its kinda implied the tampering of the corpse is stanly taking her body to use to cone to life

36:00 - I just believe this is the alternates trying to get peoples information, and asking them for 3 photo's gives them enough to try and manipulate their forms to match whoever it is

to me, the "we have their prayers" means that in this world, God isnt in control. Like with Mark, in vol 3 when he says "who have i been praying to all this time?" The God that these people are praying to isnt in control anymore and cant help people. Satan and Gabriel and The alternates literally have their prayers.
My first thought with the Face 2.0 thingy is that it asks for all of your personal information and a picture of different perspectives of your face. In a way, it's stealing your personhood under the guide of a fun little tool.
A more advanced way to steal away people.

I think something very interesting is that the alternate that appears during the Intruder’s monologue looks suspiciously like Adam, specifically the forward facing picture that appears at the end. Accompanied by the line “when you look in the mirror and see the same monsters in your room” (not an exact quote but you get the idea). I’m not sure what it could suggest, but I find it to be an odd detail.
I believe that is Adam's true form as an alternate, it's shown as an "overdriven assimilation" which I believe means that it went beyond assimilating its prey and forgot it was an alternate to begin with.

It could be that they threw the real Adam back to this world at some point while his alternate was already here. The theories that I am currently agreeing with think this story is very based in religion with the alternates being demons and "Gabriel" in this world tricking humans into worshipping him instead of true gods. You see in Mark's journal "Who have I been praying to"

For Stanley, I think the contorted flesh and bones bit is him describing the agony of trying to make himself appear human. He started as a 2d smiley face and transformed into a photo of a man, that had to hurt! then this new version is him trying to go from a photo of a man into a 3d version using the software. but as we saw earlier, this program isn't very good so it distorted his face further.

"With contorted flesh and bone i made myself known" I think relates to the fact that Stanley literally twisted Adam's mother's corpse and desecrated her body, "making himself known" on the police video feeds from the beginning of Mandela Catalogue where it warns you of having technology in your home/TVs alone with children because of an *intruder*.
Pretty sure it refers to: "body is being tampered with by an invisible force" from intruder alert
This witty banter brought back my childhood. My grandma always had the classic Christmas songs on so I grew up listening to Burl Ives, Bing Crosby, Elvis, etc. Thanks for the nostalgia Matt Pat.

@@tobysinbad I get that. I feel like the pacing/immersion really got broken in this one since it’s been a month since the first half. (Like the opening w/ Thatcher’s alternate. That’s a lot more jarring/unsettling when you watch vol4 in one go)
Between that and the joke cracking I’ll admit it did feel like too many key story details got missed entirely or talked over.

It’s interesting to watch MatPat react and theorize after watching Wendigoon react. I feel Wendigoon will have a more accurate take on TMC because he actively talks to Alex, the creator. MatPat however is working with what he has.

Adam could be the Mandela Prophet. He's been corrupting his friends by introducing them to alternates, and is the person who is shown immediately after the intro of a prophet. The intruder is also talking to him like a son, and he seems to have given them a means of digital screen access, as opposed to the tapes. Analog tape dies with Dave and lives again in the computer.

An interesting thing with the guy that gets interrupted by Sarah's voicemail is that it could also be Adam. They both look very similar, and afterwards we see the 3 pictures needed for Face Studio 2. It could also imply that the unknown user was the app.

@@Sidgirl5 It’s the Intruder, or “Stanley.” It’s implied that Stanley replaced the real Adam with the alternate we’ve gotten to know throughout the series. Adam looking like Stanley is meant to be symbolic because Stanley brought alternate Adam into reality, so in a sense Stanley is Adam’s “father.”

It's what Adam sees when he looks in the mirror and why he's so interested in finding alternates. You can even see the resemblances at this time stamp between them. 1:07:59

interesting point about adam's behaivor about jonnah's death adam as a kid didn't respond at all to the stress test right? maybe he never really got better at responding to stress?

He also didn't seem to notice the correlation Thatchers alternate made calling Thatcher a "scared boy with a gun" and the circled window of what seems to be the room where Mark Heathcliff fell prey to the alternates
The face studio 2 thing (I think) is explaining how Alternates clone people. Those who use face studio get put into the database, so 6 can access their faces so he can clone and replace them in the real world. Gabriel cannot do this. (He 'wakes' more distorted Alternates, such as Preacher, in vol 2. he says this) You can also warp your face, so that would explain Type 3 (from the T.H.I.N.K. Principle), which have warped and distorted faces.

The "17 years ago, might I add." thing was from when the Alternate attacks started happening more often, when Adam was kidnapped as a baby, when 6 [Aka Stanley] went rogue. So, yes, I think that's when Ruth was killed, as the one who called Thatcher saying there was a man in corner and his wife was hurt was Adam's father. Ruth and Thatcher arrived right after he called the police; In exhibition, the police officer who chickened out was presumably the one Ruth was talking about when she called Thatcher. They seemed to have arrived after the camera was taken away and after 6 was tampering with Lynn's body. it's actually so interesting to follow this series and hear mat's theory/logic brain work these things out. specifically because, me being someone who works with the metaphysical, i can see how stuff like MAD and being immune to it plays into real life too. if you are not mentally strong enough to handle working with the metaphysical, it CAN be terrifying and drive you to insanity. there are people who we call upon to aid us with metaphysical happenings, priests, mediums, exorcists, etc. this series is so fun to follow along because of the monotheist religion imagery but also metaphysical happenings that don't appear to be tied to monotheism.
Theory, the intruder is impersonating Adam's father, since the 2 look similar but he's not copying Adam since he's been like for a long time, maybe Adam's father to comfort the baby Adam, also Adam could been a alternate that feels human emotion but is deep down, an alternate

Currently sitting around 37:10 - maybe the new element of computer/AI/face generator/etc is the alternates adapting to the phasing out of tvs in response to them. We saw in earlier videos a particular scene where a voice in a video (instructional/industrial looking video?) was speaking to the viewer saying that they just have to think of what they want in a best friend and their perfect best friend will appear (insinuation being that the alternates are formed based on the original’s thoughts/imagination/etc) - the elongated alternate appears not long after and kills someone. What if the programme - which asks for details and input to create an imagining of a new/ideal face - is gathering data in a similar way? The old videos can’t be seen anymore since they’re tv videos but computers have remained and are becoming more advanced and reaching even more people. The alternates are adapting.
I think Wendigoon mentioned this in his video, but the alternate with the vertically stretched face looks very similar to Adam's pictures he uploaded to face studio
As MatPat was commentating on the interesting aspects of the avatar in Face Studio 2 claiming "digital technology has come and saved us all" around 37:54, his voice started glitching and my computer crashed. I know this was a complete coincidence, but sitting in the dark with my blanket while watching this at night I was suddenly terrified.

You can tell Alex put his heart into this one because the quality on it is amazing. It amazes me how well he keeps us on our toes when watching his videos. I can't wait to see where this goes because there's so many elements he has set the stage for that it leaves many ideas for videos. I hope he keeps at it and people like Matt can react to it and enjoy it together

I used to bartend at an Arena and always worked the TSO Christmas Concert every year. It was the highlight of my year, something I always looked forward to working there. "ItsameWario" (Kyle DeNigris) is the VA for Boozoo in The Walten Files! Also, Firecat Productions assisted with Shipwrecked 64, a game you DEFINITELY should play. The scares in that are top notch. I'm assuming they assisted with those amazing scenes of the Intruder speaking, because they have that same unsettling vibe as the hidden monsters from Shipwrecked.
I really love Mandela's new style. It is both beautifully composed and very unsettling. As you said, that newfound strangeness works highly in its favor.

I've been waiting for this for awhile FINALLY
These are all my observations and interpretations of the video and the series so far
1. I think alternates are shape-shifting creatures( that could be aliens )who were mistaken for angels by early man while somewhere in the 1900s they were recognized for what they actually are and they probably can also faze in and out of reality or maybe just the greater angelic ones can. and that's where MAD disorder comes in and I think MAD disorder is how we see Dave die in the video (he clawed his eyes out).
2. And for the intruder it seems that he is related to everything technology based in the series (except possibly face studio 2)
3. the point where we see a woman hung in the video (Adam's mom)I think we're watching from the prospective of Adam after the intruder got done remaking him and we're thrown out beside the TV then we were looking around getting our bearings and then we see our mom hanging and then a glitching face even though it seems like we are in the prospective of a person .because the intruder has just remade us. and we're encountering this glitch because our mom's death is messing with us and that's how its being expressed in our robotic mind as a scary glitch. And that's also why Adam has a cold demeanor towards stuff like Jonah's death. And is very non empathetic and tested zero on the stress assessment test. Sorry Matt but I'm afraid I beat you to the robot kid theory
4.I'm not sure yet if the intruder and the angelic alternates are opposing forces. Because face studio 2 seems like a ploy for the alternates to get people that they can mimic and could be what the red text meant by ''records''as in digital records. But it has a strong emphasis on being a digital technology. which has always been a thing associated with the intruder. So maybe the intruder and the angelic alternates are on the same side. And what the intruder does to kids is how new alternates are made. and Adam is a new alternate that doesn't know he is an alternate. or maybe ALL alternates start out not knowing that they're alternates. and have to get told by the intruder. the same way Adam was. but If that was true. where did the angelic alternates that have been around since before the intruder come from?

The alternates is probably like what mat said. They are some kind of satan. My theory is... I think this story is about what happened if lucifer and their followers win when they were going against god.
Since they said "We have their prayers" like they don't have it before and it meant it used to be gods thing. So god is not in control anymore the corrupted angels are. If they are actually aliens. That doesn't really made sense since they appear since the creation of adam and eve or it could be that the aliens created humans.
That's just my theory of mandela catalogue so I'm not sure myself.

3:00 it’s odd that people forget that Christmas has always been spooky, it’s always had story’s of ghosts and monsters, people used to gather around a toasty fire and tell ghost story’s but in modern years that tradition has fallen off as advertises just try to sell you more and more junk you don’t really need or want but someone in the family will end up buying anyway.
